  1. Actually you are right, what story line/play feature could there be for a bank that is child like enough to warrant it. There is already a bank heist set in the city line modeled after a bank in Arizona, the bank for Gringott's has the Harry Potter story already, there is a bank in the Lone Ranger series which of course has that story (horrible movie by the way, Lego really did not need to produce this line, must have been a "have to do" to get the Disney line for princesses) so a modular bank with a full 3 story building would have what kind of story for kids? Barney Fife standing guard while a Brinks trucks arrives to unload? The more I think about all this, there is virtually no kiddie story line to go along with a bank...scratch that one from the buildings to come. The Museum at least could have a kiddie story. Jamie could really spin a yarn with that one.
  2. no new ones at my Target either (St Louis, Missouri)
  3. since it is Dec 19, I really doubt it, what's the point of letting VIP's have it 11 days early? I would have hoped they would do it around Black Friday, but this is not really any different than last year with the PR.
  4. I love the bank ideas, especially since I work for one, but only in the back office...personally I hope the Museum on lego Ideas gets a go, but if not, the bank would be sweet and yes, have to have the launcher, talk about a story, since this is AFOL territory, shouldn't we get an AFOL story? GE, I liked it, thought the lower floor was fun and sure the escalator/stairs were repetitive, but it's a modular building, going to be repetitive as you say. Anyone who has ever put up walls knows you have studs every 16 inches (here in the US anyway, old time it used to be 12) and there is nothing more repetitive than putting 2x4's into framing. Then the electrical/plumbing and sheetrock on top, tape, mud, sand, paint, trim...not exactly New Year's Eve drop the ball stuff there.
  5. I do not have MS, PR or CC, but I like the outside look of both of them so my list is not as complete as others and will only be for the ones I have: 1. Fire Brigade: I just have an affinity for the firehouses, this was also my first one, so it's my top of list 2. Green Grocer: holy moly this I got off of ebay, cost me way more than I wanted, but it was a great one to put together and a lot of fun 3. Haunted House: Not a true Modular I guess, but I love this one and will have to go with 3rd on this one 4. Pet Shop/Grand Emporium: liked both a lot, for me they tie for 4th 5. Palace Cinema: love the Chinese Mann's Theater look of this one, it's unique, but only good enough to round out the top 5 since it has the goofy car 6. Town Hall: It's a giant building, I like it but not enough to put it higher 7. Simpsons House: I don't have PR or DA (obviously) so while this is also not a true modular, it was a lot of fun to put together, I like the way it opens and the feel of it matching the show...however, if someone said trade you for CC or MS or heck even PR, I would do it. I will actually pick up both PR and DA come tax return time, easier to justify in my mind after you get a big check back, it's not logical I know, but my brain is warped. Merry Christmas all, fun thread.
  6. I agree with you, just yesterday one of my yahoo stories was the Lego calendar for the first quarter of 2015, it was a German link but showed all the sets in the catalog. I would think you would want to drum up press and buzz for your product...if it leaks, it leaks, you could control those leaks as well. I don't know the Dane mindset though, maybe they are just secretive by nature.
  7. I like the one more level to fit in with the current offerings, but 2 more, while cool looking, would seem skyscraper to the current buildings. I do agree, if you are going to leave the blue, the skinny works, but the expanded across does not seem to work together with the light blue, darker blue maybe, I just see this offering as something that needs dark colors myself.
  8. On my recent visit to the Store I chatted with the manager, she mentioned Bank, I told her about what we were all saying on the bank and other modular buildings here. She knew about the site from my previous visits and talks with her but she did confirm that TLG is trying to tighten any leaks of info getting out. So unless someone knows someone at TLG it is going to be hard to figure these out in the future.
  9. Great house, the exterior really makes it for me as I am not as much of an interior guy, but I like your toilet and your kitchen sink...I too thought hmm...piano in the bedroom? but to each their own, sounds like you are musically gifted so if that is what you want, go for it! Thanks for sharing.
  10. sweet, this is what I really like, great job, I really like the "royal" boxes there, thanks for sharing
  11. Now this is the DO I wish they would have made, even if you didn't expand it sideways, going up a floor and switching to brown makes it look way better, thanks for the photo shop pictures...and for consistency, I also got CUT, but something else first. I wonder if you could just go BARBER across there instead.
  12. I don't think folks in the US get an email, it is on the S@H website and facebook pages, I have my cart loaded and just need to hit checkout on Sunday now... And of course as soon as I said this, I get an email...so they did send it out to US as well.
  13. Honestly yes, she is spot on...seems weird that you would not make the Lincoln close to the same size as the White House, it is so small, it is almost a why bother, then you go and make an office building twice the size, makes no sense at all. I hope that whomever is in charge of the line at TLG starts to get more of a world view and do landmarks that are across the board, then get back to finishing off the FLW buildings, Taliesin, etc.
  14. thanks to OTW for letting me know, but I agree, too bad not on Jan 1, and Vincent, you might be right, the notice I posted was from the US Lego S@H, so the Netherlands one could be a different date...later in January would be preferable too if you ask me but given this is more than normal, guess we will take it.

  16. Nice looking park Robin Lego, I like it, very botanical On the auction since it came with 3 MS, not a bad price, if you could get it down, it would be a good buy for someone who has no modular buildings and then resell the other 2 MS to get some money back...$5000 would be a good price if you could get it. AFOL1970, good thoughts, that makes sense for a bank, I like it. No one else watched Scrubs and the toilet on the roof episode?
  17. When folks have shared their city blocks, often I see a MOC'd park in there. Makes me wonder how hard it would be for TLG to make an official one, would be a lot less pieces, and something in the $50 US range I think, but would be a welcome addition to the line, maybe this could the 2nd "Modular" one year. I was thinking of how to do a bank, the first floor would be easy, lobby, maybe a vault, a manager office...I am still not sure what the 2nd and 3rd floors would be. Office cubes maybe on 2nd floor taking care of incoming checks? I really don't know what the 3rd floor would be other than offices as well...or you could do a 2 floor lobby maybe with vaulted ceiling, but then it would still likely have a stairwell or elevator to a 3rd floor which is offices. I think folks would find that rather plain. A hospital is kind of likewise, that is a first floor lobby/emergency room with then patient rooms and maybe a doctor's office/nurses station on floors 2 and 3. If they do a hospital, I am putting a toilet on the roof in honor of Scrubs and that whole episode arc with Michael J Fox. And have to find a Dr Cox for it. I am still going to hope for a museum at this point. I like these other two but a museum or library or hardware store is more my desire...we do have a good long time to discuss and have fun with it all though.
  18. On the arcade, how far back do pinball games go back? Certainly can't see them do the stand up games like pacman or something like that but since we got a pool hall with DO I am not sure they would do an arcade. Bank does sound intriguing, especially 30's style, MOC some gangsters and a big vault, Al Capone and all that, the only thing on a bank is the upper floors, you certainly would not have an apartment or a studio up there, maybe just offices, so a cool first floor bank, but the other two floors as offices? Kind of boring there.
  19. Talos I think you are right, the vaulted roof (I guess that is what I will call it since I am not sure of the right architectural term and it isn't truly an arch, it's actually more of a barn roof if you want to get into it) is such that I think if you went out too far, you wouldn't be able to support it and it would collapse. I still think it could have been at least 8 to 12 studs wider and been ok though. I could be wrong, am most likely wrong since I am sure someone MOD'd it up with a bigger roof that stretched it as far as other modular buildings, but I think Glendo's pictures really show what my issue with PR was, just looks puny next to the others so this meant I paid for the accessory pieces and not really the building pieces...at least that is how I see it. PR is growing on me though.
  20. I guess if you want to MOD a bank you could pic up the Harry Potter Gringott's bank and finish it off since I think the back is open...the base model would be a start anyway.
  21. well I will try to get back on topic...it's hard to know the parameters for a discussion thread though, it's really just speculation and guesses so on topic is kind of subjective to the moderator, so if we get off topic again, please let us know the "yellow lines" for what on topic is...understand on the opinion thing though That said holy smokes we have a bunch of ideas thrown out and supposedly the next 5 are planned out with 1 possible on the Ideas list: Museum, Bookstore, Hardware Store, Police Station, Hospital, Library, straight up Apartment Building or residence, School, Meat Market/Butcher/Grocery Store, Automobile/Mechanic, and more...and with the DO we know that TLG is not above combinations now so could be more than one business in the building. Did I miss any or are there more to add to the list? There is also a pattern that seems to take place which suggests a corner building.
  22. hoo boy, well I was being facetious there, but wow, I can't imagine
  23. oh wow, thanks for posting, that was my laugh of the day on the video, very fun to see and glad you are getting recognition for it, might have to look up the instructions and build this one... And Colossus, you had me rolling with that post as well
  24. good job poindexter, have never been to Baltimore, but I like that Blue Moon Café...still don't like the color scheme on the DO but at least there is obvious pics for the blue..now find neon green Oh did I mention, it really doesn't matter I guess in the end, we are all going to buy it. I will just buy it and enjoy it for what I want and ignore the rest as mentioned. In the grand scheme of life, it's not huge, just something to converse about in this discussion. I will just hope the Museum gets built as is and other modular buildings in the next of the series goes back to the style I like.
  25. very true and that was basically my point too, some folks just like to argue I guess, if I was super busy I wouldn't be on here and see the silliness but it's a good quick break, let's just say I will pick it up, I do not care for the color combination, I don't mind that blue per se, but the color combination is what got me and others as well as the need for a story to the building. I will just be me, which is the best thing I can be and let the haters hate, they have nothing else to do I guess
