The 6141 pieces are good for getting coordinates when done like the pic, but when you attach the part the other way the light will get hidden in the piece its attached to. ldd_6141(array[1]{40},array[1]{0},array[1][12]{{0,0,0.9999997615814209,-0.99999988079071045,0,0,0,-0.99999994039535522,0,-8.0800008773803711,0.39999917149543762,6.7999997138977051}}) Copy all the numbers between the {} brackets Which is:- 0,0,0.9999997615814209,-0.99999988079071045,0,0,0,-0.99999994039535522,0,-8.0800008773803711,0.39999917149543762,6.7999997138977051 And paste between the <> brackets below. light_source {<0,0,0>, color rgb 1 matrix <> fade_distance 1 fade_power 5} Like this:- light_source {<0,0,0>, color rgb 1 matrix <0,0,0.9999997615814209,-0.99999988079071045,0,0,0,-0.99999994039535522,0,-8.0800008773803711,0.39999917149543762,6.7999997138977051> fade_distance 1 fade_power 5} Its a slightly different method but same result. -

Vacuum Cannon
JM1971 replied to JM1971's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
They are also good at squirting water Mythbusters series 13 episode 8 is what to watch for more info, there is a lego vacuum pump on youtube and you would just need a splitter to suck the air out the the top and bottom of a cylinder and to fire just pull the hose on the bottom. and video of it . -
Technique could be used to fire stuff with a Lego pneumatic cylinder, some of these cannons can fire a ping pong ball at mach 1.4 which can make a hole in a table tennis racket, I dont have any pneumatics to test it but you could use one cylinder to pull the air out another and then use a switch to let the air back in to fire a little ball some distance.

Free Wheel and Flex Coupler
JM1971 replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Freewheel would save on batteries because the PF receiver reverses power to engine brake when you let go of forward on the controller, this wastes power and it would be more effeient to freewheel instead, also it would look cool because if your moc has disk brakes then you could see them working a lot better. -
Fiat Panda 4x4
JM1971 replied to piterx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The service truck is 58% of the parts needed, maybe its an idea keep that in mind when redesigning or even make it out 100% out of the 9398+service truck, but if that limits artistic espression then it not a good idea at all and I should wash my mouth out with soap. Anyway the service truck is a must for building this and I dont think it will be discontinued in the near future and one of the cheapest places I've seen it is on amazon. -
LDraw on Dual Boot Win7/Ubuntu?
JM1971 replied to JM1971's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
What I meant was the Linux version is completely different to the windows version, its intuitive and was able to use it without referring to a tutorial because its a lot like LDD. -

LDraw on Dual Boot Win7/Ubuntu?
JM1971 replied to JM1971's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Glad to hear it runs well on 8.1, changing the shortcut properties still gets the prompts in lpub, but I'll look at using a unprotected folder. -
LDraw on Dual Boot Win7/Ubuntu?
JM1971 replied to JM1971's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I fixed it with the task scheduler, its just that lpub takes ages to do anything otherwise. -
LDraw on Dual Boot Win7/Ubuntu?
JM1971 replied to JM1971's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yeah is does but you have to keep clicking the popup loads of times when using Lpub. (when lpub keeps calling ldview when making instructions) Theres a method of bypassing UAC with task scheduler which works a treat, I'll link it because its handy.. http://lifehacker.co...tions-493128966 OOPS I posted this in the wrong forum. -
LDraw work on my pc but there are problems with ldview which can be sorted by turning off uac, its a pain to do this because you have to reboot a lot. An easier way might be to download ubuntu and have a dual boot pc, the ubuntu disk takes care of the hard work for you but will ldraw run on ubuntu ok?

Is this like a Lego roadtrip with movie at the end?
