This is a set which just makes no sense to me, almost no features for £45, no real unique parts. I don't see this any better than the set you get when you combine two pull back racers, which it basically is and then you pay a premium. Worse than that, 3 desperate people on ebay UK have paid £49.90 for a £45 set just to get their hands on it in December.......what were they thinking?

Usually which Amazon sells Lego the cheapest on average?
paul_delahaye replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You can pretty much guarantee a 33% saving on amazon uk at some point. i have been closely watching as I’m waiting to pick up the roller coaster (which I’m yet to see under a 16.5% discount) and I’m also waiting for the two technic sets 42100 and 42110. Best I’ve seen so far on these is 25% off, but at some point I’m sure they will drop. I’ve noticed amazons prices tend to reflect their stock levels. The other day they had. 12 of 42100 in stock and in the UK they were down to approx £325 but when they had just 1 left in stock they were nearer £375 the other consideration is surely local market list price? -
Specialized pieces are no big deal! Or are they?
paul_delahaye replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I agree imagination is everything, but where times have changed, when specialised pieces are involved, and if you don't own many other sets, I can see how a large specialised piece could prevent you building anything other than what the original set was. Take the City Airplanes. We could make a good topic out of this if people suggest a part and someone else suggests an alternative use which others might not have thought of. Here would be a good starting piece. Part 93541 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=93541&name=Wing Plate 20 x 56 with 6 x 10 Cutout and 4 Holes&category=[Wing]#T=C -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I agree, in the past these sets have offered some rarer colours of baseplates. Green is a tad safe. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
paul_delahaye replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Might have already been said but it’s on 2 baseplates just like the old pet shop was so we have two 16 wide modulars again. -
Well I guess that depends technic parts are rarely on the pick a brick walls things like technic panels, even if they were on the wall (which I’ve never seen them) you would not get many in a cup making them quite expensive then you need to factor in your driving and parking time to go to a Lego store (plus if you value your time) and that is if you even have one in your country or within a reasonable distance. I think either bricklink/brick owl is your friend here or punt for a new set on discount when it happens. Amazon had the car transporter with a 3rd off already in the UK

damm I really wish I could be lucky to find the 1x2 brick with brick pattern in the PAB wall. I keep hearing people say they are there and each time I visit a store, there are none to be found. very annoying as they are expensive on the alternative markets. Even the ones I purchased from Lego direct on Bricks and Pieces were pricey.

Liking the little buggy and the Claas, the crane is another crane but looks ok. For me I'm loving the idea of a working sailing yacht. Just need some IP rated control plus elements now so we can make a working remote yacht. Not sure what the designer was smoking on the stunt show.......definately different.......the truck is very US styled, feels like a cross over between city and technic.

42108 - Mobile Crane
paul_delahaye replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I really like this model, does have a flavour of crane trucks from days gone, but its good. I just wish out of all the construction vehicles, they could have picked something else. -
Star Wars will be leaving LEGOLAND in 2020
paul_delahaye replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Star Wars
you could be on to something there. Could also be linked to Lego taking ownership through their family company KIRKBI Invests? maybe Disney felt some kind of threat from this? It woulld almost be sounding like the start of a decline in licencing between Lego and Disney? -
60223, Harvester Transport, glad I picked this one up.

In my opinion, it's one of the gems of this years city sets. I've bought a second in the sale as well. -
Stickers isn't a big deal! Or is it?
paul_delahaye replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I would not mind, if they were of the 1980's quality. Printed on clear vinyl. Those old stickers can still be repositioned even today. Some of those early 2000's sets, the stickers just were terrible. -
New Lego stores opening in 2013
paul_delahaye replied to rubberninja's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So 6 years after it was originally annouced, the Southampton store has opened. Today was the official opening. Well it was a nightmare. Not quite as bad as the opening of the London, Leicester Square store for queue times, but still over an hour+ of queuing to get into the store, and then about another 30 minutes best guess to get through the checkout! The queue outside would have been shorter had the tills been more efficient. Needless to say after a 45 mile drive, there was no way my little boy had the patience to queue. Shame as I was hoping for some pick a brick. Will have to make another trip in a few months once it's calmed down. My 3rd store opening I've atteneded. But the only one I've not gone into. Paul -
42110 - Land Rover Defender
paul_delahaye replied to 1gor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Here is me thinking you'd modded it with air suspension on the rear. On real Range Rovers/Discovery's you sometimes see them leaking when parked and they look like that. -
I can certainly see the business appeal for LEGO, and in reality, they are never going to pass those cost savings onto us the buyers. However for me, the one draw to paper is taking me away from my computer (which I'm on now) and allows me to clear my mind whilst building. Everyone will have their own preffered method, and I can see the nice balance we have today with B models online and A models paper instructions in the box.

There goes my hope of printed parts on a £400 set! but it does look like we have gone back to quality 1980's stickers!

REVIEW: 71025 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 19
paul_delahaye replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yes, that mountain bike being available in the minifigures is a massive plus point. -
set unopened for many years, any problems?
paul_delahaye replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Crumpled sticker sheet/instructions must be high on the list! Depending on the age of the set and how they have been packaged. -
LEGO sets with same numbers but different looks/features
paul_delahaye replied to JoelS's topic in General LEGO Discussion
And you have not considered that someone on ebay has just changed the colour of the flags in the set they are selling? There is no box, no instructions pictured. I don't see how it's anything but a modifcation made by the seller? -
Making LEGO Stickers last longer
paul_delahaye replied to JekPorkchops's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In reality Lego just need to go back to their sticker supplier from the 1980’s all my old sets the stickers are still mint, I’ve even been able to unstick and reposition some of the stickers better than the original owner did. they can only have changed supplier for cost reasons.- 10 replies

Birmingham & Southampton Lego Stores
paul_delahaye replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There is another topic about the opening of new stores. Worth a search. I think all we know is that both stores are due to open before Christmas 2019 i think I read that Southampton was due to get a store about 5 years ago but for one reason or another it never happened. i think I also read that both shopping malls are now owned by the same management company? as for promos when I went to the opening day of Watford a few years ago, they did 3 days of opening offers, I think this was for the first 200 or 400 people who spent £50 day 1 was a T-shirt, day 2 was a lego set of a Lego shop and day 3 was a pack of 3 limited figures which had some connection with the town.
