Yeah, I'm not impressed with any of these sets. I'm especially not impressed with the ship after seeing the instructions. I think this will go down in history as the worst pirate ship ever (from the main theme). This entire wave reeks of juniorization. I could forgive this if the minifigures were spared. But these new minifigures have a very non-Lego like, cartoony air about them. I'm not a fan. I would love them very much if each of these was done in the older style. I will probably buy the torsos in bulk and buy the old faces and bandanas. I might not even buy the sets. I'll just buy a few of the parts in bulk. Strange. I greatly prefer the old dark gray cannons. I especially like the ones with the emblems on them. I don't like the pearl dark gray. It doesn't look like a Lego color to me. I have dozens of the new one. I would gladly trade all of them with you for old dark gray. jodawill1989 at gmail dot com I can host it from my server.

I found a cool easter egg in the Brick Bounty instructions. The skeleton on the front of the ship doesn't have legs, but there are two skeleton legs in the treasure chest. ;)

It's not available in the US store. It's not even listed.

I love the "POOP LOL!" My students would love that too. They get such a kick out of potty words. Great review! Nice photos, etc. I'm excited to buy those reddish brown baseplates. They will be a great addition to my farm. I will be able to use my reddish brown plates to add texture to the ground instead of just laying them flat. I've never bought a modular building before. I'm tempted to buy this one. It looks great, has lots of play features, and has some nice parts.

Is the Juniors pirate set supposed to be out right now? I thought I heard it was supposed to be out on January 1st. I can't find it on S@H. I called the store yesterday, and they said they had it on Monday, but it sold out. But I'm not convinced the kid knew what he was talking about because when I first asked him, he thought I was talking about the Duplo sets.

I'm the only Lego fan in my family. My cousin used to like them a little when he was younger, but he's embarrassed by them now. We went to the grand opening of the Indianapolis store a few years ago, and he was too embarrassed to take my picture in front of the giant Buzz Lightyear. Hopefully, someday I will have kids who are huge Lego fans.

What is your favorite miniature accessory?

I like cannons. I have dozens of them. -
I think it's hilarious how every extra in those movies was eventually given a name. They really know how to milk a franchise.

I probably won't be able to display in Chicago this year. If I just stop by for one day, which day would be the best?

I think the problem with Lego System bridges is that the motor can't handle a very large grade. I think it can only handle a slope of about one tile per baseplate (32 studs, or two straight tracks). I had two bridges on my layout at Brickworld Fort Wayne, and it was obviously too steep. I tried doing one brick across one baseplate. It put a lot of strain on the motor and it was hard on the tracks. So if you want to do hills, you'll have to invest in a ton of straight tracks. Duplo trains must run on a cog system.

Lego Baseplate Price increasing.
jodawill replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Wow. That's completely ridiculous. I can tell you right now I won't be buying baseplates at retail price ever again. I don't understand why they think they could raise the price that high without losing sales. They're being rebranded under the "Classics" theme. I don't think they're new molds (although that would be nice because the current ones have very little clutch power). They're being sold with a different label, so the number is changing. Here are some high resolution pictures: http://cache.lego.com/r/dynamic/is/image/LEGO/10699?hei=10000&wid=10000&fit=constrain,0&fmt=png http://cache.lego.com/r/dynamic/is/image/LEGO/10699_alt1?hei=10000&wid=10000&fit=constrain,0&fmt=png http://cache.lego.com/r/dynamic/is/image/LEGO/10700?hei=10000&wid=10000&fit=constrain,0&fmt=png http://cache.lego.com/r/dynamic/is/image/LEGO/10700_alt1?hei=10000&wid=10000&fit=constrain,0&fmt=png -
Lego Baseplate Price increasing.
jodawill replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Yeah, there's no way I'm paying $8 for baseplates. If this is true, I won't be buying them from the Lego Store or S@H anymore. This doesn't sound right to me. The 2015 48x48 baseplates are listed at $15. -
It seems to me that they're just piggybacking on the success of Lego CUUSOO, and they're hoping people searching for "Lego CUUSOO" will stumble upon their page. They already have the (unwanted) MOCShop. I don't see how this actually adds to the service in any way.

I should note, however, that the blue baseplates have been discontinued. -

They're being rebranded as another set number. They'll be back up soon. No worries. -
It looks like the same mold to me.
-
Are you talking about these? They're very nice molds in their own right, but they look absolutely nothing like Lego pieces. They look like Playmobil, not Lego. If TLG made something like this, I would just sell off all of them and replace them with the originals.
-
Not I. Redesigns are a risky business. They rarely work out. The new horse is one of the few exceptions where the new mold was actually an improvement. The Lone Ranger guns looked like Playmobil.
-
I've seen your stuff. It looks really good. Unfortunately, I've sworn myself to being a purist, so I must wait for TLG to produce the tracks I need.

This set is very nicely made. If I saw this at Brickworld, I would be very impressed and would talk to whomever made it. But I won't be buying it because there aren't any interesting parts in the set, and I don't buy sets just to set on a shelf.
-
I would much rather have an option to buy curves with a larger radius than have this flex stuff on the market. I never use mine.
