  1. Meh… I don't think that tram has anything to do with the train theme. It doesn't look like it would even fit on the tracks. It's ok for a City set, though.
  2. The current average is 0.63 USD. The white ones I bought were a third of that price and I was able to buy them in a large quantity.
  3. Unfortunately, they're ridiculously expensive right now (as I learned this afternoon). So I'm going to suck it up and wait however long it takes for them to make them in red again. Then I'll buy them in bulk.
  4. Since the earliest photos, something about those bluecoats has seemed off to me. Today, I finally realized what it is. Their epaulets are the wrong color. They should be red. I'll probably order a bunch of red epaulets to replace them.
  5. It works fine if you haven't spent a lot of time on the site. It may also be related to being logged in. I'm not sure. But I've had a lot of problems with it that all went away after I cleared the cookies.
  6. I too have ordered 10 of the torsos from this "Internet" of which you speak. I also bought a captain, the pirates, five of the swordfish, and some other items. They made one in 2009, but it was a bloody mess. http://brickset.com/sets/6253-1/Shipwreck-Hideout That's the kind of thing that really only works if you have a good baseplate to go with it. The fort is suffering from the same problem. We especially need those raised baseplates back. Even if they add $5 or $10 to the price of the set, they're worth it. They make a HUGE difference.
  7. Clear your cookies or browse in incognito mode. S@H's cookies destroy their website over time. That website is really crappy.
  8. They're not lime, but bright green. But you're right; the S@H stock image is the wrong color. I even told them a couple weeks ago, and they never responded or fixed it. The product description says it's "Classic Green." That's blatant false advertising, and I think a lot of people are going to be upset when they receive their S@H orders.
  9. I sure hope not. Regular Pirates is a million times better.
  10. Gotta build like crazy!
  11. Gotta build like crazy!
  12. I think the came in space sets, but BrickLink doesn't allow alternate parts in minifigure inventories.
  13. I do agree completely with that. My point is just that Lego is supposed to be neutral in everything, like not religious sets and so on. But I agree it's up to the parents to decide how to raise their kids.
  14. This is something I've never understood. Why does primetime mean a show doesn't need to be wholesome? It's the time when kids are home from school and probably have already finished their homework. It's probably the time when the most kids are watching. If adults want to watch something like TBBT, that's fine. Adults are mature enough to handle the material in an appropriate way. Kids aren't as discerning. If a five year old kid sees people having sex on TV, he may not understand that it's only appropriate in certain contexts and may act out what he saw in the show in an inappropriate setting, like school. I think it's the same reason people don't want their kids to watch violent movies. I used to work with a guy who had a three year old boy (and the mother was out of the picture). When he was home from work, he and his son did nothing but play violent, M-rated video games, normally between midnight and the early morning. Not surprisingly, his son often behaved violently because he wasn't old enough to understand what is or is not appropriate. I once saw him throw a pool ball at his dad's head. Anyway, I don't mean to be argumentative. I'm just voicing my concern.
  15. I love this. It looks just like Harrison Ford!
  16. Flex track isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It is NOT a replacement for straight or curves, and it is very loud and might slow the train a little, but used in moderation, it can be a great tool. You can use jumper plates to mount flex track to baseplates to keep them from moving.
  17. That's what he keeps telling his wife anyway.
  18. It depends on what you mean by a "bad thing." No one can argue that this smut is good for business. I have no doubt that this set will sell very well, and it may even have some interesting printed parts I might want to buy. But personally, I find it disappointing that Lego no longer has the philosophy that they should only produce things that are wholesome. Sure, this set is geared toward adults and teenagers, but at the same time, it seems they're encouraging kids to go watch this show, and it's completely inappropriate for Lego's main target age group. As far as the licensing thing goes, I'm not sure whether it hinders creativity. Never underestimate a child's imagination. ;) They come up with the most random things. They don't care what something is supposed to look like in a movie. They're often just excited to play with their favorite characters in more bizarre ways than we adults could ever come up with. I would agree if there was a separate Ideas store, but these are being sold in the Lego Stores and even places like Target right along other sets for children. Personally, I'm not hating on the show itself. I'm just very disappointed that TLG is making a set for a show that's practically completely based on adult humor. I don't think a Community set would be as exciting as people are making it out to be. There's really nothing special about the environment or the appearance of the characters. The show is driven by the story and the humor. That doesn't translate well into Lego. Now, having said all that, it's quite possible that I will buy one myself. I would be interested in the rubik's cube tiles and possibly Sheldon's torso, depending on which one they choose. I'll probably just part it out on BrickLink and keep a few random things. I will create my own bedroom using some of these parts.
  19. I grew up with the redcoats and armada soldiers. But looking back on these as an adult, there's no question in my mind that the bluecoats were the best. They not only have the best appearance, but with the exception of the trading post, the bluecoat sets were far superior to all of the other waves. By the way, this debate reminds me of the Star Trek episode, "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield."
  20. The S@H website really sucks. There are a lot of bugs. Example: Go to http://shop.lego.com and do a search for, say, "baseplate." It will just reload the homepage, but with a slightly different URL. Now do your search again and it will work. Another bug is that the star ratings are often displayed incorrectly on the search page, but will show correctly on the product page. They will either be grayed out or 5 stars, when they may in fact be 2 stars, like that new green baseplate. The crazy thing is that these bugs have been around for a VERY long time. I don't know what the deal is. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if this issue is due to the poor web management.
  21. If the cannon is powerful enough to knock it over, that's probably the best play feature I've ever seen in a small set like this.
  22. This page says the studs are too high to attach Lego plates.
  23. The thing that's really pissing me off about this is that I was going to order 30 more of these for Brickworld in March. I put it off because I was hoping to buy them on a double VIP points day. I didn't know about the price increase until it was too late. But now I can't even buy the color I need for my layout because they don't make green baseplates anymore. I knew for months that the packaging was changing, but TLG still hasn't even acknowledged the fact the color is different. I've never bought a clone brand in my life, but if I knew of an alternative for these baseplates, I would buy them in a heartbeat.
  24. Lego's quality and customer service seems to be going down the tubes these days. Anyway, you can order those sets off BrickLink. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=70404-1
  25. Yeah, I noticed the skeleton in the instructions. I think that goes to show you that this wave really is geared toward the younger kids. That's not something they would have done before. (That particular is a good thing, of course.)
