I don't think those two sets really go well together. But that's ok because I won't be buying it for the official build anyway.

Is it possible to run two IR receivers so that they function together, but just receive a signal from two different angles? I had kids playing with my train at Brickworld this weekend, and it was a bit of an annoyance for the kids that the IR receiver was only on one end of the train. Is there a way I could use a receiver at both ends of the car without making one subject to the other?

I'm in school right now. This is my last year of undergraduate. I'm hoping to get a PhD in math and become a professor. I tutor math students and do research in theoretical astrophysics.

Join a LUG. Go to shows.

I was there too. Who are you?

I haven't posted my photos to Flickr yet. I need to weed out the crappy ones first. But I will post them here as soon as I can. Wow, I didn't realize you were an administrator. When I showed you the e-mail today, I didn't recognize your username, but I recognize your avatar. It was nice meeting you today! Your Fabuland display was really cool. I couldn't find you on Facebook. If you'd like to be my friend, click here. Are you going to Brickworld Indy?

By the number of displays, I think Fort Wayne is the smallest Brickworld show. I've been to the Indianapolis show several times and it's much bigger. But we do have a variety of displays that weren't in Indianapolis. Matt De Lanoy (PepaQuin) is here from Chicago. He's one of my favorite builders. I was really excited to meet him.

Using Duplo bricks as structure elements?
jodawill replied to Andy D's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If you're not in a hurry, you should look for some Duplo bricks at garage sales. I've gotten a lot of them that way. I love Duplo bricks in their own right, but I've been using them as support also. I even store my display using Duplo bricks to create pillars to stack baseplates on top of baseplates. -
Awesome! I also have a western display, but I'm sure it won't be anywhere near as good as yours. I'm very new to all of this. I actually think my pirate ship is the best MOC I'm taking, but it's going to be in David's display, not mine. I received my Modulex supplies today, including samples of the new bricks! http://imgur.com/a/5Oo75

I just received a small shipment of bricks from the first trial run! http://imgur.com/a/5Oo75

Hey guys! Brickworld Fort Wayne is this weekend. I'm really excited about this event for a couple reasons. First, it's going to be my first time displaying my own layout. (I have an entire display to myself!) Secondly, Modulex Bricks has asked me to promote their upcoming products at the show. If you're in the area, come check out the show, and be sure to stop by my table and say introduce yourself! You can contact me by e-mail: jodawill AT iuk dot edu. - Josh

That's actually not true. If you stack to of them, they'll fit into a clip (like a minifigure hand).

Where did you see the hi-res pictures? Is it something you're not allowed to share?

One of my friends (crazylegoman) said that white bandana looks like a diaper. I think he's right.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I really want to see a closeup of Redbeard's torso to see if there's any difference. It looks like his hook is a different color.

Not Imgur, but here are the photos. http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-pirates-2015-official-images-revealed/

I like the fact that there are so many soldiers in these sets. I think it's pretty common for us AFOLs to have more pirates than we know what to do with, and far too few soldiers. This will help me balance out my collection.

I do like the fact that they're using the large plastic flags again. I'm not sure how I feel about the minifigures. I definitely do not like the new bandana. The minifigures do have a more classic look than the last wave, except for the dark blue. The dark blue seems out of place to me. The soldier's fort looks cool, but way too small. It desperately needs a baseplate. It's weird that the sails on this ship are basically the exact same as the last one. I'm glad we're getting a new swordfish. The palm trees wouldn't look as bad if they were in classic green.

Eeek! The new pirate bandana looks horrible! Why? Why did they change that?
-
Nice find, Nathan! I would be really excited if something like that became an official set. Maybe one of us should work on something like this for Brickworld Indy. - Josh

That's awesome. I've always wondered why they weren't made that way to begin with. The old mechanism doesn't seem particularly useful in any way.

Are those crappy Technic palm trees in the final sets? Please tell me they were stand-ins.
