Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
jodawill replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I just looked at my order and it looks like you're right. After you buy it, it shows all three have the same SKU and the description lists all three items. It's still pretty steep, but it's low enough that I'm willing to pay the price to stock up on them. I have three packs ordered so far (plus ten for a friend). I'll probably get a few more whenever the space torsos are available. I also ordered a couple different capes to see if I get more than one. I got one black spongey cape and one black starched one. -

Did you get a confirmation of this somewhere, or is this just speculation? I ordered one of each today just to see what I actually receive. I hope each is a three pack. -

It seems the limit only applies to a few parts, such as the new shields. It doesn't even apply to the Black Falcons. I'm guessing this will only ever apply to parts they're having trouble keeping in stock. I'm completely fine with this. And I'm also guessing the limit only applies per order. I would guess that if someone places 10 orders of the same items though, they'll probably be flagged for abusing the system. But I think 35 is fair as long as people can come back later for more. If someone wants to order 35 every week, I think that's fair as long as Lego can keep up with the demand. I was fortunate enough to order everything I wanted when they first became available. I had my order placed within a few minutes. The only parts I'm waiting for now are the flags from 10305 and the classic space torsos. Hopefully those flags are a box of three parts, not just single pieces. I'm going to order one of each first and see what I end up with. $9 for each one is ludicrous. If it's $9 for three pieces, that's still expensive, but tolerable since I only need to buy a few. -

Exactly. The Black Falcon minifigures used to sell out within minutes. Since PAB was restocked a few days ago in the US, they haven't sold out. It can be very frustrating early on, but at some point, demand does taper off and it becomes easier to get them. Now, I can't say the same thing about the Build A Minifigure stations. I'm still really frustrated about the white falcon (or whatever we're calling them) fiasco. I had to drive an hour to get to the store, and they'd always be sold out within an hour of them putting them out. I hope they're available through PAB at some point, but I have no reason to believe they will be. Thankfully, I was able to get some by just being in the right place at the right time while I was traveling. But if I had been there five minutes later, I wouldn't have gotten any. Someone was already there buying literally the entire stock - hundreds, if not thousands of them. -

The US Pick a Brick was available for ordering, but nothing was restocked during that period and orders weren't being fulfilled. I can't explain why the new parts dropped here first. If it was a mistake, they probably would have taken them down, but they're still available. But I'm sure they will have plenty of new stock to go around when they open up worldwide. You just have to be patient. There's a lot of whining in this thread. Keep in mind there was a time when nothing like this was available at all. I would have killed to have a service like this in the '90s. It's not perfect, but with the exception of a few absurdly priced parts, we get pretty much everything we want eventually. If you want parts immediately, you have to go to Bricklink. This is just one of those things where you will get it eventually. You just have to think on a longer time scale. I've been waiting for these parts ever since 10305 and 10497 were rumored over a year ago. Waiting a couple extra months isn't a big deal. And we go through this every year. They always close or slow down PAB/B&P this time of year. And people always whine and moan when things go out of stock, but no one thanks Lego when those prices eventually come back in stock for over a week after demand settles. -

Yeah, what's up with this? The Forest Hideout was especially bad for some reason. It looked like all of the pieces had already been used. I don't remember having issues with this until recently. It's s big problem now. -

Green legs were also added. It's hard to really know what's new because a lot of parts are old but reappear under the old date. -
A Classic Space Piece Pack would work for Classic Space fans?
jodawill replied to Operacion Saturno's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I would definitely buy a classic space parts pack if it was available. But most of these parts are a much larger scale than I build and the curves don't really fit into the classic space style. I prefer parts like that windshield that came in 70821. That part really should be brought back in more sets. I would also like to see that printed slope produced in light bley. If I were choosing the parts for a pack, I would also choose a lot of trans yellow plates, as well as trans green windshields and canopies.- 22 replies

I have a really sad story. My local Meijer had a dozen copies of Helm's Deep after the theme was discontinued. I kept going in every day hoping they'd be discounted. I walked in one day and found a couple Hobbit sets for 75% off. I couldn't find the Helm's Deep. I asked an employee and she was like, "Oh, yeah. Some lady just came in and bought all of them." 75% off!!! So sad that I missed out on that deal.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
jodawill replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is funny. I know some people hate the forestmen shields because it doesn't make any sense for them to have their own heraldry. Somehow, I love those shields because I grew up seeing them. But barding just seems completely over the top to me. I do agree that barding for the raven knight would be amazing. I would pay out the nose for that. Imagine if we could get a new jousting set with FOUR barding designs, each in different colors, and they included the raven knight!- 2,976 replies

The Bricklink designer program doesn't appeal to me for two reasons. First, they're really just selling people's MOCs. A lot of MOCs look great but don't stand up to Lego's design standards in terms of things like stability and ease of building. The other thing is that I mainly buy sets for the parts, and a set based 100% on parts that are already in production doesn't appeal to me unless it's just simply a good deal. For instance, if I saw a set on clearance that's a good parts pack, I'd buy it even if I'm not very interested in the set. It's kind of strange that they have two programs that are kind of competing with each other -- Bricklink designer program and Lego Ideas. I love the idea of fan submitted ideas, and I think Lego Ideas gets it right because they do have professionals redesign the models and they even produce brand new parts for them. I wish we could get more historical sets through Ideas, but I think the general format of the program is a good one. It's not clear to me what advantage the Bricklink program has over Ideas. I only see downsides: limited part availability, substandard designs, limited production runs, higher prices, etc. Is there something I'm missing? Why do they still have two separate programs? -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
jodawill replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I've waited several days to chime in here so I could take some time to mull it over. The original Blacktron subtheme was always a bit too plain for my taste, so I was looking forward to seeing them do a modern refresh. So I was somewhat taken aback when I saw these images. To me, when it comes to these re-releases of classic sets, there are really only two ways it could appeal to me. The first is to be a 100% reproduction of the original, like the re-releases they did in the early 2000s. That obviously wasn't going to happen here because so many of the parts are no longer in production. The other way it would appeal to me is if they improve upon the original design in some way. That's what they did with the Forest Hideout, and that was a smashing success. This set falls into some weird gray area between those two options. It's not a faithful reproduction of the original, but it also doesn't improve upon the original in any meaningful way. What's even more confounding is that the original is only $50, and the minifigure is only $5. So if I really wanted this set, it makes more sense to me to buy the original. There are several issues I have with this set as they're releasing it. First, the stickers are a huge turnoff to me, especially on a textured part. I wouldn't have expected them to print several parts, but they could have at the very least printed a single tile and used it in multiple locations. I'm mainly just confused by how closely they tried to stick to the original design, yet failing in such strange ways due to their limited part selection I had really been hoping they would re-release the half-octagon plate in trans red, or at least use a substitute in the same color. To me, the 1x2 tiles make it look really cheap. Actually, my overall impression is that it looks like Lepin tried to re-release the Invader -- not Lego. If this was a set that was dearer to me, I might have a more positive impression. I also expect I'll be more excited about it once I have one in my hands. But if I had been involved in the decision for this GWP, I would have either asked them to come up with a fresh redesign. But I also would have suggested they go another route entirely. Since they already have the Galaxy Explorer in production, I would have suggested they re-release another classic space set. I would have gone with one of these: 891 Two Seater Space Scooter I think this one would be trivial to re-design with modern parts. The tail piece isn't in production anymore, but if they increased the scale of the set by about 20%, they could use the 1x4x3 tail instead. Since the minifigure is already in production, they could have used that frame they spent on the torso on the printed gray 1x3 slope instead. Getting that part in bley would be a huge win for classic space fans. 6872 Xenon X-Craft Granted, the yellow minifigure isn't currently in production. If they couldn't get the budget to put it back into production, then they could just as well use the white minifigure. They would have to make it a bit longer than the original since the canopies currently in production are larger. But I think that would be ok. They could turn this small set into something more similar to the size of the Blacktron GWP, and it would be pretty cool. The Galaxy Explorer will still be on shelves for at least another year, I'm sure. So it's also entirely possible that they actually are planning a classic space GWP and we just don't know about it yet. Who knows. This Blacktron set is okay. I'm glad we're getting it, but I think I'm struggling to adjust after setting my expectations so high when this set was rumored. Hopefully the minifigure shows up on Pick a Brick so all of the Blacktron fans can stock up on them at a good price. -

The problem is that none of the out of stock parts are showing right now, even if you check the box. I don't think they're actually gone. They're just out of stock. -
I may have gone a little overboard on the Galaxy Explorers. I bought two from Lego when they were first released and I got the Forest Hideout. Then I bought another one at Walmart when it was $75 and I had a $10 off coupon. Then I bought another one when it was $75 and I got $17.50 off with promos. Then I bought two more this morning when I saw they were $50. Then I bought one more after that when I realized I could use the DISCOVER promo code to get $10 off. So I have seven Galaxy Explorers now, and I haven't opened a single one yet. I was originally planning to give one to my son for Christmas, so I was hiding them. But then Walmart ruined the surprise by delivering one without packaging and my son saw them deliver it. And he decided he's more interested in Mario anyway. So I guess there's no reason not to open one now, except I'm in the middle of moving at the moment. So once things settle down with the move, I'm going to have a lot of building to do...

I just saw that the CMF 24 series includes a female Black Falcon archer. I wish it was a faction we haven't already seen recently, but it might be cool... IF they abandon the stupid blind boxes. -
Some thoughts after YEARS without a castle theme
jodawill replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I see no reason they couldn't do quality and quantity. Occasional large sets like 10305 are nice. But I would also enjoy being able to walk into a local store and buy a little battle pack of some kind. I want to see sets that extend the larger sets in a modular way. I like the impulse purchase price point. I've bought a lot more of the yellow castle knights than I would have online because it's just fun to pick them up s couple at a time when I'm at the store. -
Latest CMF series impact on Historic themes
jodawill replied to SirBlake's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
True, but I guess the difference this time is that the new one actually appeals to me, especially being an established faction. I have some of those black knights, and they're pretty lame. Judging by the Bricklink price, I'd guess I'm not alone in that opinion. The white knight is too much gray for me. The fright knight is ok, but it wouldn't fit into anything I build personally. I'd love to see old factions return through the CMF series in this way. Imagine them bringing back Dragon Masters through a CMF minifigure that can be split into two knights. That would be pretty cool. Not as cool as a real set, but it would be a great substitute. Edit: Actually, the black and white knights both had generic torsos. They were also released a pretty long time ago. So hopefully we see some more in upcoming series. -

I would love to see another minifigure in the same vein as the series 23 knight. I basically want the exact same thing of another faction. Imagine if they gave us something like the knight from Black Monarch's Ghost. I love the fact you can separate the torso and the breastplate to make two different knights of the same faction, and it even includes two swords. The minifigure from Black Monarch's Ghost was essentially the same thing. I remember wondering as a kid why he had armor underneath his armor. We could do some real army building if they keep giving us things like this. -

Did the price of the cow also go down? I thought it was over $11 before, but it's $9.52 today. I hope the prices in general are going down as they're able to keep up with demand. -
