  1. FedEx tracking is just wacko. Yesterday, it said it would arrive by the end of the day, but the only status update was "label created" in Illinois. This morning, it updated to show it was in transit, and it says it will be here tomorrow. I would definitely prefer them to use a different shipping service. I made several orders in June. One of them came looking like it had been run over by a truck. Thankfully, the contents weren't majorly damaged. Another one arrived in a trash bag. I don't really trust FedEx with this package, but oh well. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to buy one in the store and pick out a nice box to put on my shelf. Speaking of displaying the boxes, I saw people talking about how they use the shipper boxes to prevent gravity from making the boxes collapse. I was thinking I could just fill the box with shipping paper and hold the flaps together with scotch tape over the original tape.
  2. Good. I do see them now looking at the instructions. It would have been a major oversight if they hadn't included them.
  3. Does the new set really not have red lights on the wings, or are they hidden in the photo?
  4. I watched that channel for a long time before I discovered he's the CEO of a video game company. I still can't wrap my head around that. I just can't picture him talking about modern technology.
  5. Jason Kingsley made a great video on the different types of medieval swords. His entire channel is golden. Everyone should check it out.
  6. Oh, I see now. It said limit exceeded because I had added one to my cart for some reason. I wonder if they'd cancel my order if I bought a second one. I'll wait a month or two before I buy another one though.
  7. This is amazing. It really looks like it just came out of the ground. The face looks like a system of tree roots. This has to be one of my favorite MOCs of all time.
  8. I also realize there's a lot of irony in the fact that those of us whining about the limit of one would be super upset if we missed out because they didn't implement limits. I'm just chomping at the bit for this thing. I haven't been able to think about anything else since this set was first rumored.
  9. I hope you're right. I just looked at the other large sets, and they have limits of 3-5. Hopefully they'll increase this one eventually also. It's also interesting that the website tells me I've "exceeded" the limit (which actually means I met the limit). It tells me that for 10305, but not for the Galaxy Explorer, which I also met the limit on when I ordered. Hopefully 10305 is getting special treatment for a short period of time simply because they want to make sure everyone gets a copy the first time around. As long as they open it up later on for more purchases, that seems fair to me. (I just wish I had some assurances.)
  10. Well, I'm specifically thinking of collecting the VIP points. It would be really crappy if you had to forgo the VIP points on such a large purchase just because they don't allow you to buy more than one of this set. I totally get why they're limiting it now, but I really hope they don't maintain this limit after the demand has leveled off. That would be super crappy.
  11. That looks great. I love it! I know exactly which model from the book you're referring to. That's a great book.
  12. I'd like to see you go back to the store and try to buy a second one. I wonder if they'd stop you.
  13. Don't go using logic when I'm trying to vent! I'm sure I'll get my castles eventually. Hopefully at some point, the demand will level off like you said, and I can just go to the store and pick them up.
  14. If they produced enough of them to keep up with the demand, the scalpers wouldn't be able to make a profit. Problem solved.
  15. Cool. I guess I'll just have to wait then until they're able to keep them in stock in the store. I imagine they crack down harder on online sales because it's more difficult to determine if someone is buying them to resell, which we know Lego hates. Personally, my thought is, if people are willing to hand you the cash, take it, then make more. Make enough sets so that you don't sell out, even when scalpers are taken into account. They're just printing money over there.
  16. How long do they impose these limits? I'm ok with the initial limit so everyone can get one, but I hope they don't impose that limit forever. I'd like to get about four of these castles eventually so I can build my own castles. I could ask family members to order them for me, but I'd also like to claim those VIP points.
  17. Not every AFOL is on Eurobricks. I don't know how far this is from you, but there is a Florida LUG.
  18. If you're in a LUG (Lego User Group), once a year, you get to place an order for discounted parts in bulk. It's a great way to buy rare parts in huge quantities, like say if you wanted to buy 1000 of the cloth flags from 10305. Instead of paying $20 a piece on Bricklink, you might be them at 15 cents a piece instead. (That's just a made up example - but that's the kind of thing LUGBulk is great for.)
  19. I've always loved that piece, but I've only ever owned two. I got one with my first set, Black Monarch's Ghost. Then several years ago I bought another copy of that set that was in like new condition. That's all I have... Hopefully I'll be able to stock up on them through PAB or LUGBulk. But I definitely prefer the old dark gray ones. I've never been able to get used to those metallic colors. Light bley doesn't really look right either. Old gray armor and helmets (and black) are the best in my opinion.
  20. Would anyone else prefer for the internals to match the exterior color scheme? It would add up a lot more possibilities for MOCs without having to incorporate parts from different sets.
  21. Right. Just the presence of a rare part in bulk isn't necessarily a red flag. There have been times I've bought something in bulk when it was available, then unloaded it a decade later when I was the only person who had them in large quantities. I recently bought 30 brand new bullet helmets from a seller who said he had about 1000 left that weren't added to his stock yet. I was suspicious, so I asked him how he got them. It turns out he had bought hundreds of the black falcons sets when they were rereleased and he's only just now getting around to selling these parts 20 years later. It does happen. They might care because it could damage their brand if the counterfeits are inferior quality.
  22. Brciklink should start including photos of the insides of parts along with measurements of things like the thickness of a torso's wall. For example, the 1980s Lion Knights torsos were 1.4mm thick, and the torsos in Benny's Space Squad are 0.9mm thick (which is why they crack so easily!). It would be difficult, albeit not impossible, for sellers to obtain period correct torsos for desirable minifigures. This would be an easy way to weed out many counterfeits. Honestly, I'm really on the fence about the plume thing. It bothers me that it's a rare part to begin with. I wish Lego would just produce parts like that in bulk so people don't have to pay those ridiculous prices. I don't really blame people for using reproductions. I probably wouldn't do it myself just because I'm a purist. But it's such a small part that's easily lost - I wish Lego gave us the opportunity to by them by the hundreds so we can just forget about it and move on with our lives, not living under the stress of losing an expensive plume the size of a fingernail clipping. The existence of reproductions don't bother me either. I don't buy Legos because of the exclusivity of it. I just enjoy the parts. I hate it when pieces are valuable because it adds unnecessary stress to my life to take extra good care of them. The only thing that bothers me is the prospect of sellers passing them off as legitimate. This obviously has to be nipped in the bud, and I think there need to be immediate and severe consequences for any seller that's knowingly deceiving their customers.
  23. It does look similar to Richard I's arms: The new one is closer to this one with the staggered legs. The new one is good, but I really wish the red part went into its mouth so it would actually look like a tongue. Of course, I would probably never have given it this much thought if I didn't have so much time analyzing the photos waiting to actually get a copy of this thing.
  24. That's really interesting. It seems too similar to be a coincidence. Maybe that's what it was based off of.
