Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
snaillad replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
The new fence pieces from the elves theme are very art nouveau, I hope to get some myself later this year. Art nouveau is a fantastic style but it tends to be quite organic and lots of round and intricate detail, in particular some cast iron examples. I'm sure the Lego team could make some great architectural prototypes but making them stable for play is another problem. Whatever they come with next I would at hope for rounded clear window inserts and different design for the roof to what we have just seen which was very flat. -
Excellent bus. The smoothness of the back of the bus is especially well done!

Fantastic creation and the scale is very impressive, and also I really like this style of French architecture so it pleases me greatly! Smashing job!

Thanks for all the great comments! I read and appreciate them all. I hope I can find even more material from this era to build other MOC's inspired from 50 odd years ago. I really had to restrain some of my ideas. What I need is for TLG to keep making more large curved trans-clear pieces! As for the bubblecar it wasn't exactly the car I had in mind when I set out to build this MOC but I think it turned out ok even if it would fall to pieces quite easily!

Well done to all who entered, some fantastic entries this year, not surprised it was so close!

Hi everyone! My latest creation is a much more modern concept than what I have previously built. Its inspired by 1950/60's concepts of what architecture might look like in the future. I had many different ideas of what I wanted to do but the scale was just too big so I've settled with something a little more concise but with varying levels of height and depth. I wanted to have to have lots of outside space hence using the balconies and a stepped design for the building. There is a Cafe/Restaurant on the ground floor, a parking garage underground and several apartments on the upper floors. The interiors are minimalist as I would imagine the future would be. Other features are a greenhouse on the roof for growing food, a high wall to keep out rising river levels and a road where wheels are no longer needed! The hovering bubblecar was a great excuse to use the trans-clear dome I've had for ages. There are so many more ideas I had for what I envisage for the future but couldn't fit them all in so perhaps it'll have to wait until another MOC! Anyway on with the pictures, apologies for the quality, I found the white very difficult to work with this time upon editing! The remaining few can be found on the my flickr stream here https://www.flickr.c...th/16176627059/ Any comments or criticisms welcome!

Nice job. The colours work pretty well together. The roof looks a great place to chill!

This looks great. I like the use of engine grills horizontally on the ground floor and that small window on the top floor at the side is simple but very charming. Another fine addition to your already great collection of modulars. Well done!

Excellent work. That Jeep is an awesome update, but my favourite would be the police cruiser as it has a great memories for me as it was one of the first sets I ever got. Really cool update! Looking forward to seeing the rest in the future. Top marks!

Excellent work with the mechanisms. The whack a mole is very cool! Good luck!

This looks so realistic. I particularly like the caved in roof. Well done!

What an interesting and unique creation. I like very much how it is raised off the ground and integrated into a curved roadplate. Great job!

Thanks CityBuilder! Thank you AgentRick57! you can get the Hats in the Artic Icebreaker - 60062. Thanks King Aragorn and bjorkan, sadly a few too many flimsy techniques to make it a real set, but flattering all the same! Thanks Withacee, Captain Braunsfeld, JopieK and agadoijo. It would probably look quite fitting decorated with lights and a festive tree to make a winter scene out of it. Maybe if I get some time at Xmas! Hi ecmo47, these designs have been reverse engineered and instructions created by someone else with my permission. I don't sell the instructions or have any responsibility of advertising them. I only ever freebuild. I'm sure they'll fit into a 1930's-1950's layout. I really love that era for design and style. Cheers

Thanks sonicstarlight! I have made quite a few large Art Deco boxes and wanted to try and work on improving my landscaping, I suppose this satisfied by desire to have a small building and greenery! Thank you danimarroquin, Gongoro73 and lightningtiger it's a nice suprise to be FP'd! Thanks Legogal, Ben C,Hobbythom and The Player Nº1! The platform is a bit messy at the end, I would have liked a much more gradual slope to look much smoother but I ran out of space! Thanks Kristel you're always kind to notice my window details! I spend far too much time faffing on with them on every build! Thanks Tobysan and Zblj! Thank you eurotrash, I looked through far too many imagines of rural stations and took bits I liked from various ones to make this, it was tedious research! Thanks Balthazar, very flattering!

Hi everyone, its been a while since my last build, so here it is my latest project Studdington Station. I don't consider myself a train enthusiast or expert, hence there is no engine in this MOC, but as I enjoy making buildings and a little landscaping I thought this would be a nice way to combine my interests. I figure all towns and cities need a train station so I've put it in here! although the admins may wish to move as appropriate. This has took way much longer than I would of liked to finish but it's eventually been done. It was influenced by many British countryside stations build in the Victorian era. A lot of these buildings are now defunct due to low usage and have been converted in to homes and other business's. Due to my small desk, I've cut the size of the platform considerably so it's not realistic at all! There is no interior this time sadly. I'll save my ideas for another project! There is a few 'untidy' areas which I perhaps could of eventually figured out a better solution for but just wanted to get it finished. Anyway, enough waffle and on with the pics, there is only 5 in total this time and I've posted them all below; If you wish to view them in flickr the link is here: https://www.flickr.c...s/52656812@N04/ Comments welcome in any form! Cheers

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
snaillad replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Looks like it'll be a fun modular to build having varying heights and interiors. I suppose it made sense after the last building was European themed that this is more american styled. Some nice looking techniques on display from what I can see so far. The era of this building is definately right up my alley if you'll excuse the terrible pun! -
Hi there, I live in the local vicinity but as far as I've found there is no local LUG's or groups in the area. More sadly there is next to no MOC representation at the most local Lego store at the Metrocentre. I do agree with L@go that joining Brickish would be a good idea, I seem to remember a while back seeing a post from a member saying something about a small show in Sunderland but can't remember where it was, maybe another site other than EB. I'm attending Brick 2014 in London on the Saturday so maybe ill find more about some local groups down there!

Thanks! The light blue sofa is stable, but was a bit awkward to make. Thankfully you can't see the back of it! Cheers! It was a challenge to myself to work in grey's but I found subtle colour highlighting and varied textures made the facade look more interesting but still realistic. Thanks Wodanis and gazumpty However my collection of bricks is not as large as you think. They all fit in a have to fit in an refrigerator sized Ikea unit I wish I had room for more! Yeah, it is built on a couple of 32x32 baseplates. Thanks Laka I like to recess the windows in most MOC's I build so having double wall thickness lets me place the windows nicely in between for better texture whilst it hides the transition between outer and interior colours nicely. It's been a little while since I did flats so it was great fun to build some new furniture styles. Cheers L@go! The only MOC I have previously made thats intact is the Monde cinema. Usually I dismantle these buildings as they are large, heavy and use most of my brick collection. However I had in mind a grey facade for a while so I didn't need to destroy it, but if I had before I started De Luca's it may of turned out so differently! Maybe ill try and get a shot of them both before I dismantle it! Thank you very much for all the kind comments!!!

Very nice! I like the idea of the mountain range setting on the roof. From what I can see of all the vehicles I like them alot!

Well done, especially for your first modular moc. I really like the signage outside and if Benny and spiderman eat there I want in too!

Hi everyone, here is my latest creation De Luca's menswear! It is a 4 storey building with a store for stylish menswear on the ground floor and several apartments in the floors above. It fits exactly onto two 32x32 baseplates. I wanted to see how interesting I could make a predominantly grey based fascia as I have done mainly white/tan facades most recently. I figured enough texture and occasional colouring could bring it to life. I also wanted to experiment with an idea I had to make a different shape of apartment by hinging the bedrooms for access. It's pretty sturdy with a couple of hinges per wall for reinforcement but it did limit the colour palette slightly. Sadly no bathrooms this time but thought the spacing and shape would allow for kitchens easily enough. The building is based in the early 1960's for reference. I wanted to make furniture from a different era than I usually do. The vehicle is an American style sedan. It took a lot of fiddling to get the rear wheel arch to line up perfectly! I couldn't quite get good light for pics of the bedroom interiors so ill probably post all the furniture separately in the future. Comments and questions welcomed! There's a few more interior shots on my flickr stream here: https://www.flickr.c...57644901364201/ Cheers!
