Really like this, lots of things to admire. Using that white racing torso is a nice futuristic touch!

Nice work. The bus is sweet. I like that newsstand. Best of luck!

I hope they don't go for full CGI and still make the effort to use animatronics like the first film. I would like to see them return to the original island especially if its overrun with dinosaurs and without power

Any bricks lying alone on the floor must be pawed and sniffed. Funny when there is a load of bricks on my desk their not interested. However when I get the white paper out when photographing my builds, its an invitation for them as this pic shows; As for the cat in the box video, it is an all too familiar scene in my flat!

Welcome! I have seen some of your builds before on flickr. I look forward to seeing what else you have in store for the future

I spent quite a bit on lego the last few years. But i did buy a few sets to sell later on. There wasn't much i bought last year except the town hall. Not much has caught my eye this year either unfortunately. I echo the feast or famine sentiment. However i hope for some decent exclusives later in the year whatever they may be!

For some reason the designer video doesn't come across as very enthusiastic as the previous town hall one. Guess there wasn't much to talk about regarding the interior. It's so dreary. I like dark tan, but never as the predominant colour. The interior walls are crying out to be broken up, with either texture or colour. The movie posters are really good. I would have one as my desktop wallpaper if I could get a pic! Don't see the point of the stairs onto the roof. Wasted space me thinks. I suppose the price is ok for the piece count. Cant help wondering what could have been done with another 500 pieces like the town hall, but I guess TLG wants a variety of modulars at different prices.

[MOC] Jurassic Park vehicles - Jeep & Tour vehicle
snaillad replied to ramjarjamjar's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The grey jeep looks great. As for the other one studI think perhaps moving the windscreen forward one stud might even it out. But i can seen that would mean maybe spoiling that smooth roof. Otherwise these are both very good replicas. Well done. Maybe there will be some new vehicles from jurrasic park 4! -
Lovely build. I like the use of the round window plane for the back of the chair. Is it sturdy?
-
Great job. I echo what the others have said. I especially like the lamp and wood burner.

Meh. Feel quite flat after seeing the interior. Can't get excited about the base plate. I usually cover mine in tiles. I almost feel that's what is missing from this set. For all the piece budget they spent on the vehicle they could have spent on at least tiling the ground floor interior aswell. The pavement area is actually quite nice. I like the stars! Alot of the cinema's from this time have a patterned carpet. I think this set needs some colour on the inside badly. Perhaps realistically on the ground floor. Cinema interior's have motif's, patterns and splendor. This is splen-dour! Whether its a true homage to the interior of Graumans I don't know but it doesn't seem very special or interesting. I cant particularly see any interesting pieces on the inside. We got a few nice touches in the grand emporium like goblets, plates, balls etc but nothing of similar interest here. On the positive I do like the overhang and palace sign. Definitely not my favorite modular in the series so far from what I see - its a shame because when I read it was going to be a cinema I was thrilled but now I just feel flat

I think Lego could have done something with a predominantly white facade with splashes colour and texture through offsetting. I've done it on several of my modular builds and think the effect works well. The colour combination on the town plan cinema was excellent. I think this would have been a great opportunity to incorporate some of the colours used in recent friends sets to make a decent art deco build in a similar way to the town plan. Slightly off topic. I found this pic a little while ago, thought it might be worth sharing I wonder if the town plan was based on it? Anyway..... To be fair to TLG I have alot of respect for being bold and not 'playing it safe'. I'm still not convinced that this will go with my other modulars but maybe it isn't supposed to. No street goes on forever, maybe this is the first in a new line of bolder more expressive buildings. Lets face it, there is so many people whom build modulars, myself included that it makes it more difficult for TLG to give us something we have not seen before. Jamie Berald says it at the end of the petshop video that the greatest challenge is 'trying to keep us surprised'. This new cinema certainly does that!

Not blown away like i thought id be. The colours do work well. But i do feel a bit short changed on the second floor. Perhaps a bit more texture would have been nice. Some 'brick' bricks in tan would of looked good. I like the roof. I think unfortunately it will look out of place next to the previous modulars. Minigfigures look meh compared to the standard set by the town hall. And as for that car like others have said its awful. So many vehicle moc'ers have made excellent limo's. Maybe lego should have looked there for design ideas first. I suppose i might warm to it in time providing the interior is decent and contains a selection of decent and rare pieces. Here's hoping...

Nice work! I like the the way the colours work together. The fountain is nicely done and I love the small vehicle! Best of luck!

Maybe we will get a building and a half. Perhaps 3 x 16x32 baseplates. The petshop mixed things up a bit by halfing the traditional square. We have just had a very tall building in the town hall. Maybe it'll be wider this time round?

Nice build! I like the upper floor details. The owls are a nice touch. also some very interesting interior details!

Thanks! I was going to use decorative arches originally but they are a little too short. I am especially happy how the bed turned out! Perhaps I should! however I've done a few bars already and one quite recently. I can't remember who, but someone made a great pub for the modular madness contest. It would be hard to top that! Thank you very much! Usually the attics were used only for storage, mine still is! Also it would have been difficult to hide the underside of the roof tiles without losing alot of space!

Thanks! I sadly don't have any plans to expand it yet, I used most of the reddish brown bricks I have on this project so it might have to wait a little while Thanks! The exterior is definitely simple with not much by the way of aesthetics, they were build in mass for the working classes, particularly miners. Well built, functional houses were the norm. Thank you! Most of the interiors came about quite quickly. Its much easily to get a perspective with the open backed design. The TV only took 5 minutes! The van is a similar style to some of my other streamlined effect ones. I tried using tubing but it had a slight curve and I had to really force on the 1x1 round bricks. At the moment it is hollow and many times it has smashed on the floor into many pieces driving me mad!

B-RM-10C Hi everyone, I've been working on this for some time but due to other projects etc I have only been able to complete it recently. I wanted to have it open-backed for better pics inside. Anyway, its a Victorian terrace street scene based in the UK. Its set in the 1950's period. I wanted to have it done for the same time as the Queens diamond jubilee as its based in that time but other things got in the way. There are two different terraces which is not what you would usually find as opposite terraces mostly match. I.e both sides shops or both sides houses. I figured it would be a little dull having both the same so decided to add some shops to one side and vary them slightly to make the scene more interesting. There is a barbers and a florist with flats above on one side and the other side has full houses. I live in an upstairs flat in a Victorian terrace and have wanted to do something similar in minifg scale for quite some time. The houses are reasonably reflected in style as the layout is pretty similar. The upstairs bedrooms really can be tiny! More pics can be found here http://www.flickr.co...s/52656812@N04/ Comments welcome and appreciated.

Actually I went to Orlando. I got some ideas from Disneys hollywood studios and universal. The Ground floor from this building inspired me. But the upper floor was just mashed together from various Miami hotels etc. I have many books! I didn't get to goto Miami this time so most of my research was from the web. Googlemaps Thanks! I got alot of inspiration from Miami hotels. Probably not this time, I've got a couple more smaller open backed buildings in similar style to come but someday I will build a large full scale modular hotel in a similar style to what you see here! Thanks! I made several designs before I chose this one. I use alot of cladding so the central column is easily interchangeable. I think I picked the most effective one! Cheers! Perhaps without the window canopies it would be more streamlined. Gotta have some curves though! Thank you! Much appreciated. I was originally going to use windows in the centre column as its a staircase in alot of the time but thought maybe I should make something more decorative out of it! You can use my vertical cheeses if I can borrow the side-on inter-colored cheeses from the cinema! Thanks! Its probably more fitting for a commercial or utilies building lobby but figured I need a slightly different color to mix it up a bit! I have been making a much bigger MOC over the past few months which is open backed on two sides so I figured see how it goes with this one. It was much easier for photos for a change! Thanks to the other very positive responses! I am always grateful for opinions!

Lovely facade! Nice to use a good mix of textures. Whom is the tennis player getting treatment?

Hi everyone! Here is a quick build I made after returning from the US in the summer where I got a little inspiration. It gave me a chance to use some techniques which I wanted to use a long time ago. I wanted to use lots of classic streamline moderne elements and styles. Its a shop selling clothes for ladies. I mainly wanted to concentrate on the fascia of the building so didn't bother making it completely modular like previous builds. There is a few more pics on here http://www.flickr.co...s/52656812@N04/ Comments welcome!

Good colour choices. I would perhaps increase the height of the windows or maybe add something decorative above the current ones. The fire brigade has feature im talking about. It may balance out the brick bricks in bley. As for what the building should be im still undecided! :)

A very charming moc! I like the overgrown trail and the lighting is also well done.
