News LEGO CREATOR 2014 News & Discussion
parksroad replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Best image of the bike shop I've seen, in case anybody hasn't: http://www.thebrickfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/12212441044_27033fd433_o.jpg I really, really like the looks of this. -
Can I say that this set looks soo much better "in person" than it does on the box image, even adjusting for the graininess/glare-y-ness of that one.

I think a lot of it is about balance. If you're going out and having fun, displaying your personal style in other areas of life, pursuing your work and relationships, managing your finances, keeping your living space relatively disaster-free, then nobody will blink if they see a modular building or a UCS model at your place. Conversation is a lost art, so you don't want your hobbies to dominate it anyway. If Lego comes up just mention it along with your other hobbies and don't blink or think twice; if you act like it's weird people will sense that you're uncomfortable with yourself. Didn't some thread on Brickset out David Beckham and Brad Pitt as Lego fans? Remember to curate the rest of your life and Lego will just become one of the many cool bits of trivia about you.

Getting more and more curious about these new sets! Where is Grogall when you need him? -
Thanks It's actually my first modular, and since I'm still a student it may have to stay that way for a while. But I'm very tempted seeing the cities others have built...

Ok that is an impressive set for figures. I didn't think this year would be challenging my resolution to spend less on Lego this year, and yet...- 2,626 replies

Bricks cracking... just from being connected to one another?
parksroad replied to Endgame's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Same problem bricks as others--noticed a lot of the cheese and curved bricks in my Blue Roadster were showing tiny cracks at the ends, and I've had it less than a year. -
Isn't it supposed to be like a futuristic, robo-big-brother style "behave and do what you're told" pop anthem? So it's like, already a parody, going along with what we know of the movie's plot? In one of the tv spots all the robots are singing it, for example.

Changing themes. Who has done it?
parksroad replied to Paul B Technic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I can definitely relate to the posters who have said they keep it down to a few themes for space/money constraints. MF is a great theme; one of my favorite in a long time and I'd recommend the Vampyre Castle as well--lots of surprises in the build, tons of attractive details, although the wheel with the moonstones annoys me so I take it off and build a crazy scientist lab there instead. But as others have said, that theme is not long for this world... -
Oh my. Latent brickaddiction has resurfaced.

Incredible! Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know the approximate piece count so far?

This is really interesting. Particularly since price per part can vary up to $0.05 USD (from 8 to 13 cents) but the lowest to highest price per gram is only a one cent range. I guess price per part is still somewhat meaningful for AFOLs who tend to dislike larger specialized pieces (so a lower price per part implies more pieces and a possibly more interesting/detailed build). However the price per gram sample certainly suggests that LEGO is much more consistent in its pricing than they are perceived to be. Thanks for this!

Yeah, unless the new movie flops, I feel that Star Wars may be with us for a while. On the other hand, maybe the constant rate of new films will lead to overexposure, although Star Wars may be immune. Back on topic, is it odd that the Red Team never got a flagship? Could this mean some kind of exclusive to come?

I really like that camper van. It may be similar to the last one but I missed the last one.
