  1. Nice! This looks a lot like the blockhouses at Fort Vancouver down the river from me. Photowise, do you have some paper you could place behind it when taking photos? It might make the unedited ones look better. Also, we Oleanders don't make treaties with baby killing natives... we "pacify" them. One way or another.
  2. Very nice! My favorite details would be the pipe and the inkwell.
  3. I really like the premise, and I hope you continue with it. I hate to be the one to bring it up but - we can only have six photos per entry. Do you think you could edit a few of those photos into a single one? Then you'd still be eligible.
  4. Thank you! This was my inspiration for the gun carriage. Extra wadding is used to keep the ball in the cannon, and the carriage stays pretty much in place as the gun recoil up the slot. Thanks, I was worried I'd built the background for naught, since it was so unfocused. I think next time I'll work on setting up the shot so it's all in focus.
  5. Father, I have to write to you about this wonderful invention a local carpenter has! We were having trouble siting our batteries along the cliff, since the guns cannot fire below the horizontal much. He made this carriage, upon which we have mounted 9-pounder guns, that hinges at the front. In this fashion, we could site the guns at the cliff edge and still protect the beach. Your Son, Lieutenant Jean-Luc Sarrazin
  6. Thank you! It's natural sunlight, but there weren't any clouds out to cut the harshness down, which I think made it a little bright.
  7. I was having trouble with my touch screen and Swift's form got submitted as a Class 4 something. It should be a 1F, could someone fix that in the ship registry? Thanks.
  8. Thanks! I had the opportunity to use some natural sunshine in a clear sky today for photos - very rare in March here! I'm glad it worked out ok, I was a little worried about the shadows. I'll see what I can do about an overview during my next photo session. Thanks! I had fun setting up the poses - the bowman with the nocked arrow has a little piece of flex tube inside his hand, slit along the face to grab the feathers. That took me a good 20 minutes to manipulate into place. And of course we didn't start it! Don't believe that other propaganda, we're not savages.
  9. Thank you both! I wanted to match the colors to KB's big merchant ships, as if they were all owned by the same company.
  10. A fitting fort for the Île de Zeus! The whole thing is great, but little spikes atop each cone are the best detail I think. Great photo setup too.
  11. That's a sharp reminder of reality there! His next ship ought to be named the "Honeydew"... honey do this, honey do that...
  12. I love it! The story is great, although that captain was very irresponsible - leaving then with only three days of freshwater before they'd found a place to replenish! The crows nest above the house reminds me of that old "Gunsmoke" episode - absolutely wonderful.
  13. The Swift is a small catamaran used mainly for unloading larger vessels in the harbor of Breshaun. Licenced as a 1F.

  15. Storming the Fort So all this started over a hat. Poseidon had guided our expedition to this tiny island, where we encountered the natives. We found they were able to speak a smattering of our language, learnt from traders passing through. Everything was going well until Private Gaulle decided to try on a hat that he found. Turns out it was holy to them, and putting it on "desecrated" it. Well, this morning they snuck into camp and killed Gaulle. We pursued them to... this. The stonework is old, maybe older than the tribe, but the palisade looks fresh. Yeah, they built that in a night, with stone axes no less. Storming the Fort Even their women picked up arms to repel us. Due to the walls, we had to storm across the clearing and take the fort at close quarters. Cpl Gribeauval shot one of them just as the savage loosed an arrow into Pvt Vallière. Ouch! Breaching the Wall Our attached engineers breached the wall, and we routed the natives with no further casualties on our side. I can't help but think what a waste this was father, loosing two good men over a hat. Lieutenant Jean-Luc Sarrazin
  16. Welcome aboard Sir Admiral Duke!
  17. Very nice! With the amount of rock in that hole, he's going to need a pick soon - and hopefully a smelter not long after that!
  18. Very nice! Twins are always better... Just one question - what's in the lanterns!?
  19. Thank you! @Captain Genaro, those are Brickarms U-clips. You can see them in use on the mast as well.
  20. Thanks! Why are you worried? Ponytails were the standard haircut of soldiers and naval sailors at the time, and fairly common among the general populace for men as well!
  21. That's an excellent application for that technique in the water! I've always seen it used for sandbags oe circular walls. Everything else is very nice as well.
  22. Absolutely beautiful! The tree stumps are a nice touch.
