  2. Here's the description- Thanks to Anio from techlug The facades so. 2 levels, basically. Ground floor: a beautiful entry into 8L, glazed with beautiful ornaments above (angel wings, micro fig, Wolverine claws).Shop windows left and right of the entrance. The posts are covered with gray bars to give a cut stone effect. Lamps on the wall, flowers outside the windows. A tree not too ridiculous on the sidewalk. The other side (90 of the first), there are 2 windows (4L + 3 pillars each 2L or 14L), and the rest of the length is used for laundry . A bench and a street light on that part of the sidewalk. The upper level: the great columns (2x2 ribbed round), large glass sand green, rounded been rounded up with new window 4L (need ref). And all the cornice on top, very detailed. I will not list you the parts used for the details (coughed lazy), but it's pretty. On the roof, a "porch" so the Green Grocer bow window that can see inside the bank. An office is pretty standard (lamp, typewriter), the director is much more refined (table, dark green walls, beautiful office). In the same style as the Detective Office billiard room say, but it's a desktop. Note: the use of shields Nexo Knights to make more detailed tiles (peaks at 45 °).
  3. Thanks for checking out my build and the nice comments. I really wanted to use dark green 1x3x2 curved top bricks for the entire roof line, but the part is actually somewhat rare. No seller on Bricklink currently has more than 6 in stock and Lego B&P is sold out. I'd have to order from 5 or 6 different stores to get the amount I need. If I find them at a resonable price someday I'll swap the green for the black. Nighthawks by Edward Hopper is what I thought of the first time I saw the curved glass panel. I used the painting as a reference for my build. I was hoping someone would see a similarity.
  4. I was inspired by a curved glass panel. Thanks for looking, sorry about the phone camera picture quality.
  5. Very impressive build. The technic easy chairs are great.
  6. This is at the Mall of America store. The manager told me they were not allowed to fill the PAM bins with any other parts. They proabably aren't too concerned about sales, the store is always busy, and I mean crazy busy. I only go on Wednesdays or Thursdays right when they open or it is too crowded and noisy for me to be comfortable spending time on a PAB.
  7. Pick a brick has dissapointed me for the past couple months. It was sort of ruined by the pick-a-model. They were constantly sold out of certain elements and not allowed to refill those spots with other elements. This made for a rather dismal selection. Here is a picture I took last month trying to show how many empty bins there were. It looked like this pretty much all summer. But today the new pick-a-model parts showed up. The Panda provides some nice parts. The truck didn't have much that interested me, the chairs were white not brown.
  8. Not sure about this one. I searched under modified plate and modified tile but I couldn't find it on Bricklink.
  9. You've got so many great scenes in this build. The roasted parrot is pretty amusing. Dread Pirate Roberts is a cool addition to the Captain collection. It's hilarious to see Isaac the bartender.
  10. F. Post Office G.Bus Station Nearly all the modulars have a mailbox or bus bench, but there is no source of mail or buses.
  11. I agree that the skirts don't seem to fit quite right. But my least favorite are the skirts that some of the Star Wars Snowtroopers wear, they just look bad to me. I never though much about the scimitar until I got the zombie pirate. It was the worst accessory in the latest CMF's. I think they missed the chance to make a zombie parrot.
  12. Thanks for the comments everyone. I would have a hard time determining the cost. Most of the parts came from a couple of bulk buys from a thrift store, the rest are from PAB walls. This is exactly what I was planning to do. The building next to it will be 14 wide, so the alley will be 5 studs wide.
  13. I was intrigued when I found out the Detctives Office would have an alley. Well it wasn't exactly what I expected, so over the past few months I've been experimenting with my own take on a modular with an alley. I settled on a 13 stud wide building with a 3 stud wide alley. Going with a 13 wide building presented some challenges but also allowed for nice symmetry on the front. I do feel I may have gone a bit overboard with the decoration on the front, but I had fun putting it together so I stuck with it. The 13 Building I may add more interior details- or I may not. The top floor is furnished but impossible to take a picture of, I intended for the roof to be removable... The Gargoyle fits pretty well right there, but it does seem a bit out of place to me Some day I hope to have a decent camera and lighting. When/if that ever happens I'd like to update all my posts with better quality pictures. But for now I'll close with the obligatory "sorry about the poor quality photos" line. Thanks for checking it out.
  14. I couldn't log into my VIP account yesterday at all. I tried both Chrome and Safari. I figured it was due to high traffic since several new sets and the monster CMF's became available. I tried today and logged in without a problem.
  15. Great looking furniture- very inspiring
  16. I used medium blue, I had a lot from the pick-a-brick wall and a couple of the seaside house. Also although I followed the instuctions at first I decided to make several changes as I was building. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=99439&hl=
  17. I read your post and thought "lanesteele240 thinks they're going to get someone to figure out how much it will cost to bricklink the Haunted House for them! Psshh make em do their own work!" But then I got curious and ended up looking in to it. Brickowl has a nice feature where it will break down the set by its inventory and then show the lowest price for each part. Of course there is no way one seller will have all the parts at the lowest price. But I think it is useful for gettting an idea of the cost. http://www.brickowl....10228/inventory My quick estimation is that if you buy all the parts used in good condition (minus the minifigs) you could probably build it for around $250- of course shipping will add to that. Also having to make multiple orders due to no store having everything you need will push that cost up too. If you want all new parts and the minfigs it appears as though it'll cost nearly as much as a new set from eBay so it probably isn't worth your time to bricklink it with all new parts. Bricklinking it with used parts is going to be your lowest cost option- I just don't see this set ever going below $400 on the aftermarket, unless you have a super lucky garage sale/craigslist/thrift store find. I have this set and loved building it. In fact almost immediately after finishing it I started collecting bricks to build a recolored non-haunted version, just so I could experience it again. And even though the original set is selling for $400+ I'd never sell mine- so I'm saying don't skip it. Oh and I had a very similar experience as you. Black Friday 3 years ago at Target. I see they have the POTC Black Pearl for $70. I pick it up. My wife has our cart in another aisle. I put the set back on the shelf and go to ask her if I should get it. She says sure. I went back for it and of course it was gone.
  18. Great color combination. The rest of your buildings are very nice too.
  19. Glass for those windows would be great. It is odd to have them as empty frames. I find it even odder (and unrealistic) that the Palace Cinema used them at all. Who builds a movie theater with windows to the outside?
  20. Every time I've Bricklinked a set I've only used the parts list from Brickset. If I wasn't sure I had a particular part I'd check what other sets it came in to see if I own them. I'm now wondering how many parts I bought that I didn't actually need. I'll be crosschecking against Bricklink and Peeron from now on. This is why it's nice to have this thread. Just when I think I know it all- I learn something new.
  21. Ninjago itself is a realm so all the other realms are not existing in Ninjago but are more like parallel universes. I was interpreting this to mean all other Lego themes could potentialy be realms as well. If licensed themes are not included then all I suppose Bionacle and Duplo could be realms. What do you think?
  22. Just fininshed watching the 6th season. I was intrigued by the 16 realms. The fact that Chima was one of them made me think that other Lego themes could be the other realms. I made a list and here is what I came up with. 1.Ninjago 2.Underworld 3.Cursed Realm 4.Cloud Kingdom 5.Chima 6.Heartlake City 7.City 8.Castle 9.Star Wars 10. Pirates 11. Fabuland 12. Space. 13. Superheroes 14. Western 15. Agents/Clutch Powers 16. Other licensed themes(Harry Potter, Speed racer, Prince of Persia, Sponge Bob, etc.) Just speculation
  23. Interesting- apparently Bricklink has more complete info than Brickset. http://brickset.com/parts?query=3688
  24. Looks good RogerSmith. I'll be following this thread as I also want to modify this set. I hadn't thought of seperating the buildings, it's a great idea. Rather than a booth maybe try a couple of tall tables, (the exact name escapes me, pub table? cafe table? 2x2 round plate on 2 1x1 round bricks). Some smaller bars/cafes I've been in have the type of table that you stand at rather than sit, and I feel like the Highlander is that type of bar.
