I'm getting cracks in the bows and holders
tkatt replied to Prince Manic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This could be a possibility. This past winter we had almost 50 days of below 0ºF, with temps reaching -40ºF more than once. It's possible that the Toys'R'us store I bought these sets from left them on a truck overnight. If they brought them straight to the shelves from the extreme cold that would be an over 100º temp change. Although it doesn't exactly explain why only some parts cracked. I still think Lego's overall quality is very good. These are the only bad parts I've ever had after thousands of bricks over 30 years. The only other pieces I've had damaged have been due to a dog, a vacuum, and my teeth. Oh and the time I thought I would make the 2x4 plate I needed out of a 2x8 plate. -

Everything is Awesome! I wish I could view this in person.

Lego has been notified. A had five of the plates with 3 teeth crack, but only 1 was sent. Thanks to this thread I'm finally emailing Lego to try and get 4 more. -
When my Mother in Law visits from out of state we look for fun things to do. This summer included two trips to the Mall of America. We arrived early so there were plenty of horses in stock. There were no limits on what you could buy. I watched one guy fill 3 or 4 large cups with horses, packing the rest of the space with gems and flowers. I'd say he fit about 20 horses per cup- maybe more. The horses lowered my usual part count. But it was worth it, because Horses! I need to find a good way to use all the yellow jumpers-

Lego sent me the replacement parts. I've not gotten around to rebuilding the sets with the new parts yet. I didn't realize I could send them pictures. When I was requesting new pieces I just described what was wrong. I wonder if it would still be of intrest to them to see pictures of the bad parts? -

I found the best light over my stovetop- so please ignore the dirty background. But I think I managed to get good pictures of the cracked pieces. All of these cracks formed within a week of building the sets. I didn't notice them when I was building. I had them on a shelf after building them, they were never played with. I had planned to get more of the sets because I wanted to use some of the new teeth parts as architectural details on a MOC. As I was looking at the sets trying to decide which to get more of I noticed all the cracks that had formed. I also have the Lion and the Gorilla, neither one of them seems to have any bad parts. Hairline crack in the olive cheese slope, I've heard of this happening so I wasn't shocked to see it Here you can see the 1x2 olive plate and the tan plate with the teeth have cracks on the sides The plates on the other front leg are also cracked And on the back leg Cracked cheese slope, cracked profile brick, cracked 1x2 slope The profile brick is cracked on both sides, you can faintly see the crack in the 1x2 slope here as well Cracks in the teeth plate and the 1x2 next to it, and that 1x2 slope Another shot of the slope and that 1x2 Here you can see the teeth plates with cracks and the 1x2's These are the worst, they've pretty much lost thier clutch power- they don't hold that 1x3 plate very well, If I was a kid playing with this it would be falling apart all the time -
I stopped by the Mall of America last week. I should have gone earlier in the day. It was crazy there. Very loud. Tons of People. Kids everywhere. Tourists taking pictures. But I ignored the distractions, maintained my focus, and packed the parts as tight as possible... There are over 800 pieces here. 428 bricks- I was thrilled to get the Tan 1x3 bricks and clear 1x2's 350+ 1x1 plates, cheese slopes, and studs 50 pink tiles that filled the voids in the cup very well, though I'd have prefered an earth tone. 25 gems 6 wheel guards 4 brackets this is why I'm excited to get the 1x3 bricks in tan- I can "finish" The M.O.M.A. (Museum of Minifig Art)

An employee of the Mall of America Lego store told me they would be getting horses soon.

I've had several pieces in the Chima legends beasts sets that cracked along the bottom edges. The parts included the bricks with bows, the new 1x2 plates with teeth, and some of the 1x2 plates. I was pretty surprised as this had never happened to me before with 100+ sets. I ordered replacements for them. I received almost everything but I was shorted a few of the pieces. I could try to post some photos of the bad parts if anyone is interested. -
There is a wonderful book by David Macaulay that might give you some ideas and inspiration. http://www.google.com/search?q=castle+david+macaulay+book&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=TiWuU_GoNcSgqAaCvoL4Aw&ved=0CIcBELAE&biw=1276&bih=676

You have done a good job in making the house bigger, but I think the garage door is too prominent. Perhaps you could swap the locations of the garage door and the front door. The front entrance would look very nice under the centrally placed gable roof.

Your use of technic and system is seamless and inspiring. I like how you made it possible for two minifigs to fit in the cab.

Another thread has said that it will be $19.95. I'd like the brick built dino skeleton for the modular style museum I've been working on. http://www.eurobrick...arch +institute

This has always been the first thing I think of when I think about classic layouts. My brother liberated this ad from a train, in Germany, back in the 80's. It's cardboard backed and laminated so it's held up well over the past 20 years. I couldn't get a great picture of it though.

I'll check it out. Brickmania is only a ten minute walk from my house. I'm hoping to get a chance to help out on that mosaic.

There are still 2 days on this auction as I type this. The high bid is $7.50, I'd guess it will sell for for at least $20. It's hard to put a value on it though since we don't yet know what the availabilty/rarity of it will be. -

ReBrick "Name the Ship" Contest - and the WINNER IS...
tkatt replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Maybe I'm just sour that my suggestion didn't win, but this name seems unimaginative, unoriginal, and boring. It's basically Brickbeards Bounty without the beard. -
This set confuses me. Why does Spiderman need a vehicle? And why is the official set called a trike when it has four wheels? Your MOC looks good though. I can see Spiderman entering it in some sort of offroad drag race.
