Nice job, are you building a holiday special cantina? You probably already know this but the fez is available in dark red.

Suggestion to reduce the number of old topics being bumped
TheBear replied to TheBear's topic in Forum Information and Help
My point is that people are not realising that the topic is old, maybe they are coming in from a search and not noticing the date. I don't think topics should be closed after a certain date but if you put a little message above the reply box to say that the topic is old it might reduce the number of people making a mistake. -
That's really cool, you've done a great job both inside and out. All you need are a couple of Jawas sitting out the front to finish it off but, like me, you are probably waiting for the price of them to go down. I really like the way it all still folds out at that size, it makes a great playset and also good for photographing all the different sections at good angles. Thanks for the mention, I am glad you found my thread useful. Unfortunately I haven't made much progress at all on mine but I haven't given up and will get there in the end. The Tonika Twins are very difficult, I have not found any suitable hair piece. This is the best I have come up with so far: The hair is a string with studs on the ends twisted up. It kind of captures the top of the hair style but it still needs hair at the sides so it isn't that great. The face is Barriss Offee with the tattoo carefully removed with a pencil eraser. Dark blue torso and tan hands. Ideally the torso should have a custom decal on it. Of course the other sister is in green, and her face should have green lips but there are no suitable faces for her that I have found. Here are a few more of the obscure characters from the movie that I've done: 1. Ariq Joanson 2. Lirin Car'n 3. BoShek 4. Cantina Dude 5. Leesub Sirin 6. Yerka Mig 7. Hrcheck Kal Fas / Sai'torr Kal Fas (their heads should be tan, but that's the closest we've got) You could also make the two Duros with this head.

Quite often really old topics get bumped by people who don't even notice the date on them, and you see people continuing years old conversations without realising. A really simple way to reduce this would be to write a message just below "Reply to this topic" if the last reply was more than 3 months ago. Something like, "This topic has not been active for more than 3 months, please only reply if you have something meaningful to add." I'm sure people are doing this by mistake so just making them aware that the topic is old should reduce the number of topics being bumped.

[MOC] The GHOST from Star Wars: Rebels
TheBear replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This ship has an interesting shape which TLG's version just doesn't capture properly at all, and the other big problem with TLG's is the size and position of the engines to accommodate the Phantom at that scale. Your version on the other hand does a really good job of capturing the essence of the ship and at the larger scale you have been able to put the engines in a much better place. Overall it could maybe be a bit wider and flatter, but you've done a great job. -
Regardless of who made the stormtroopers different and why, it still sucks for anyone wanting to build an OT stormtrooper army that they made them different. Once this new wave comes out the droopy mouthed one will cost at least 4 times less than the more accurate OT one. I really don't think this was necessary since they haven't stylised the other figures in a cartoony way.

It's this guy I think they screwed up making the helmet grey. OK, the helmets are all dirty, but now it doesn't match any of the others which are all white.

I really wanted this to be true but looking at the Ninjago set in high res it is very clearly the 12x6 windscreen from the UCS X-Wing, which has already been re-used in trans yellow for Benny's Spaceship.

Thanks Kristel, it is an honour to be featured on your blog!

Great build, I really like the purple lighting in the alcoves. The only thing I would change would be to drop the ceiling lights and just have the light coming from the bar and alcoves as overall I think it is a bit too light. This is just a minor thing though as the lighting as you have done it looks really good.

Thanks again everyone for the comments, it really means a lot to get such lovely feedback. Thanks a lot ER0L, your slot cars are really impressive. I would love to do something like that if I ever get enough space. The pavement is built separately and connected with technic pins. I don't have any kind of standard, I just thought this would be more flexible. I also wanted to sink the drain into the pavement so having it raised allowed for that. Where I live the ground is not at all flat so I would like to experiment with elevation changes in the future and having the pavement separate will make that easier.

Great concept, I really like the front of the building. You have managed to do a lot with the parts available. It's interesting how you put that AC in out of necessity but it ended up adding something to the realism of the result.

kreimkoek did a really good one a while ago. You can find it here

Thanks for the comments everyone, I really appreciate it. This is how they are done: Top level: 4x1 plate offset to the wall by half a stud by connecting to the jumpers. The guttering is attached directly to these Middle level: 4x1 tile connected to the top level via the headlights to give them that small offset Bottom level: 2x1 tile connected directly to the wall and pushed out slightly When I started this the 4x1 tiles were very rare in dark orange. I thought I would have to pay £1 each for them, but luckily Lego just started making them again and they were in a recent Friends set so the price came down. Similarly when I started this there were no jumpers in dark orange. Half way through the build they became available and I was able to simplify this part a bit :)

Hi everyone, I've been working on this simple little building for months but I have finally finished it. Rows of these Victorian terraced houses can be found in towns and cities all over Britain and date from a big housing boom around the 1870's. The thing that I find beautiful about them is the patina of the bricks that has slowly aged over all these years. Of course this isn't possible to reproduce in Lego but I wanted to at least try to hint at it. I found it very difficult to get a brick pattern that worked but in the end I'm happy with it. The thing that I am least happy with is the windows, I would have much preferred to use the newer style window frames but of course there are no 1-wide and 3-wide frames available. I have only built the front half of the building with no interior as this is intended as a background building as part of a street. Anyway, the inside looks like this so it would be hard to do anything with it. Thanks for looking. IMG_8380 by thebearlego, on Flickr IMG_8390 by thebearlego, on Flickr

Looking at the art on the top of the snowspeeder box I am guessing it is this guy. I don't actually know who he is but the helmet is reused from one of the trench run Y-Wing pilots in ANH. This isn't one of the three helmets you are talking about but as far as I know it is another one that has never been done before by Lego.
-
Wes Janson would be even better since he has a great helmet that hasn't been done yet and we can already make an updated Wedge using his existing helmet.
-
I said the same thing two pages ago and no one noticed, but glad to see someone else thinks we might be getting a new Wedge :)
-
I'm hoping that the microfighters snowspeeder will give us an updated Wedge Antilles. Although the preliminary has Luke's helmet, the fact that it has orange markings and that we got the obscure Red 10 in the X-Wing gives me hope that it will be Wedge.

[LDD MOC] 71,000 piece, 13-foot Super Star Destroyer
TheBear replied to Fox Hound's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If the Lego Group won't fund this they should at least give you the parts at cost price, after all it will get a lot of press coverage for them. -
Anyone else a little disappointed with 75050?
TheBear replied to SWAT Strachan's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It is not too big or heavy, I don't see why an 8 year old wouldn't be able to swoosh it. -
That's because the 1x2x3 window wasn't available in 2007 but you can buy them now and fix it. Although I'm sure there will be a lot of purists that won't want to.
-
Great job. It's a shame that the other building in the set will still have missing glass due to the use of panels. I really wish that Lego not only had glass for those rounded windows, but produced 1-wide windows like they used to in the old days.
-
Amazing progress, I can't believe how fast you are doing it. Wouldn't tan be closer to the right colour than dark tan for the padding on the walls?

The lack of a Lando could be a good thing if he is being saved for a cloud city set
