  1. This would be my preference too. Something like BaronSat's version based on the Kenner Micro Collection playsets. Considering the fact that the Ewok Village was based on the Kenner set it is a possibility.
  2. The version you are talking about is the current best original trilogy stormtrooper. They used to be very expensive, but the price has come down quite a lot since it is in the current advent calendar. As La Chupacabra says the best way to buy them in bulk is on Bricklink.
  3. I forgot about that, it is an old print but better than nothing. I hope one day we get Jir, Praji or Tanbris though. These are supposedly non-commissioned officers and pop up lots of times in the movies in charge of stormtroopers and guards. Another use for the black cap is with the Imperial Security Bureau officers such as Admiral Yularen. He is seen wearing his in the corridor:
  4. It is great to see the black cap on the imperial crewman, hopefully we will get a black uniformed officer one day soon. The torso on these ones is the same as the one in 75055. The grey capped ones are the Star Destroyer helmsmen, and the black capped ones are technical crew such as the scanning crew that boarded the Millennium Falcon.
  5. Great progress, it is looking excellent. Did you use Krispy's LDD as a starting point or did you figure out the internals yourself? It looks quite different in places to Krispys.
  6. Obviously this (being based largely on Jerac's A-Wing) is far more accurate than any official set is going to be, but it is also far too fragile to be something that children can play with. All the most accurate models (for example Psiaki's X-Wing) are like this because to get that kind of accuracy you have to trade robustness. For this reason I think it is unfair to compare these kinds of models with the official sets because they have totally different goals.

Great build, the brickwork is excellent. I particularly like the way you have done the bricking around the windows on the second floor. The open back is great and I love the way you have made the sides open out for easy access.
  8. Great job, I am doing exactly the same thing myself and have had it sitting half finished for months. The only difference is that mine is mostly light grey instead of white to match the McQuarrie prototype colours.
  9. The lack of windows in various sizes is one of the major frustrations in building any kind of realistic building in Lego. I would love to see some 1 stud and 3 stud wide windows in modern frames, but I guess with every new window they add, they have to have a corresponding glass part, so each one requires two new parts.
  10. I always love your MOCs, you pack in so much detail and realism
  11. You can also just use a pencil eraser. You won't be able to turn them into standard OT stormtroopers though because the printing isn't the same and it looks like the marks on the torso would probably be impossible to remove without leaving gaps in the normal printing. Thankfully the price of OT stormtroopers is going down since the advent calendar came out, but it would have been a big help if they were in this battlepack too.
  12. The solutions to the gap problem look great, it looks so much better and makes me wonder why TLG didn't do it. Having such huge holes in a space ship just looks really wrong. I suppose it would be more expensive with lots of little parts and maybe make it more fragile for play. Those are the only reasons I can think of.
  13. Bo Shek Hair 92081 Black Head 3626cpb0955 Torso Blacktron 973p52c01 Trandoshan Head Boskk 87570pb01 (should be tan or dark tan with black eyes, but this is all we have without painting) Should have a dark tan torso, with green arms and dark grey legs. The torso I have used is 973pb1170c01 with arms swapped out, I am not really happy with it except that it is dark tan.
  14. Incredible build, one of the best I have ever seen.
  15. Agreed, and ironically the 6x2 arches are the solution to the problem on the UCS version, but here they are far too big.
  16. Very impressive work, they look great!
  17. Great concept, build and photography. My only gripe would be that rebel hanger floors should be grey rather than black, which should be reserved for imperial hangers, but maybe you made it black to match your TV :) I don't see what you've got against A-Wings, they can take down Super Star Destroyers single handedly!
  18. That's looking excellent. What did you use for the Ponda Baba, Snaggletooth and Nabrun Leids heads?
  19. There is an LXF file on page 2 of the thread and PDF instructions on page 3, provided by ScottishDave.
  20. The band are never seen clearly in the actual movie so you can largely do whatever you want. I do think their alcove should be the same size as the others though, otherwise you have a holiday special Cantina which is nothing like the movie. There are actually 7 players in the band, but because they are never all seen together you can use anything from 4 to 7 and most people wouldn't know the difference. Modifying the set, I would expand the width of all alcoves slightly so that 3 band members can stand side by side and then expand the depth so that the others can be put behind. Here is a production still from the movie set (you can just make out the arch of the alcove at the edges of the image):
  21. Great job, that looks really good. I have been put off attempting one of these due to there being no suitable part for the semi-circular engine intakes, but your solution is pretty decent. The windscreen placement is from Psiaki's X-Wing, even if you came up with it independently.
  22. Thanks, that is useful. It looks more like the handle is straight on the faulty one when it should curve up slightly. Edit: Sorry, I got them the wrong way around, the one on the right is the good one. Buying these on Bricklink and other places is going to be annoying as there will be no way of telling whether you will get a good one until it arrives.
  23. Thanks for that info, I will hold off buying my Duros until then.
  24. Thanks Brickwright, I am really looking forward to seeing your AT-AT. After owning this Y-Wing for a couple of years now I still really love it. It is certainly not a model that my 5 year old son can play with though, as I have found out through several rebuildings. Unfortunately the cockpit and the way the engines connect to the body are just too weak for play, but that doesn't matter because it is such a great model. The Psiaki X-Wing has exactly the same problem, and I now appreciate why Lego makes the sets in the way it does.
  25. Brickwright has done an updated version now which can be downloaded here. I will update the first post in this thread with the new link.
