  1. That looks very good. For anyone wanting to do something similar, you can usually pick up sets like these for less than half price without the minifigs on Ebay. It is a good way to expand an existing set without having to pay full price.
  2. I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out, but in the end it looks really good. You have done really well to keep going with it over 43 nights!
  3. Having made the change to the wedges and tested it on my 5 year old son, I can say it is sturdy enough so the reason has to be down to cost. Also children (the target market for this set) are are lot less sensitive to things like gaps in the hull than we are as adults, so to them it doesn't really matter.
  4. Of course, I assumed you would have but thought I would mention it anyway. It looks really accurate, I look forward to seeing the brick built version.
  5. That looks very good. I have tried to do something a similar size myself based around the 4 wide engine intake, but I never managed to get anything I was happy with. Have you considered using 2x4x4 half cylinders behind the engine intakes?
  6. I think you've gone a bit overboard with the red tiles, but apart from that it is looking good.
  7. In case any of you are not aware, Mike made detailed breakdown photos of his X-Wing available on Brickshelf. I built mine using those.
  8. I think this hair piece has a fault as it falls off much more easily than normal. I have noticed the problem with the same hair piece in a different colour on another figure.
  9. Good job, I am working on something very similar myself, except that I'm using two arches at 180 degrees to create the window. Mounting can be done in many ways, I am trying to make mine slide in and out so that my son has easy access.
  10. I don't think there is a definitive best version at the moment. Jerac's is great, but the lack of a cockpit is a deal breaker for me. The best thing you can probably do is to start from the Tie Advanced that you already have and work that into a standard tie fighter. That way the two ships will look good together.
  11. Great job on building it from scratch. I am modifying my son's 75105 at the moment and the single biggest improvement was filling in the gaps in the hull plating using different wedge plates to the standard ones. There are more details in this thread if you haven't seen it.
  12. Just leave them raised slightly higher than before and they fit just fine.
  13. The ugnaught looks great but the lack of Willrow Hood really is unforgivable
  14. Thanks for the close up. I was sceptical that you could pull it off but they have come out great.
  15. It looks like Spooky Girl from Series 12 of the Minifigures. It works really well for Aurra Sing!
  16. I have been watching your Iron Builder with awe. I don't know how you guys build so many amazing models so quickly. It would take me about a year just to produce an X-Wing, let alone all the other things you made over a period of 3 weeks!
  17. Great job, they have come out very well. Can you do a close up on the air vent?
  18. Ever since seeing Psiaki's unfinished version I have liked the idea of scaling a Millennium Falcon around the size of the windscreen piece, and thought if he ever finished his it would blow the UCS version away. You have gone and done exactly that. Your model looks absolutely perfect to me, I can't see how it could be any better. Not only are the proportions spot on, but the detailing too. Most people seem to put too many greebles and too much dark grey in the mix, but yours has the perfect balance. Congratulations, I am sure it was a huge amount of work.
  19. You can also do this with a simple pencil eraser. There was no doubt that those two bigger marks could be removed, but the real question is whether you can remove the one on the air vent (not a mouth). If that one won't come off cleanly then they won't be good replacements for the normal stormtrooper. Also the torso looks a bit more difficult.
  20. Your best bet is to buy one second hand and then Bricklink any missing parts. I've never had a problem with Bricklink in over 50 orders.
  21. I wasn't talking about the overall number of studs, because obviously mine is incomplete, but the scale of everything. If you want it to be minifigure scale then the bar and corridors either side need to be wider. But honestly it looks great as it is so if I were you I would just leave it.
  22. Really great build, I can see that you have put a lot of work into both the cantina and the characters. It is certainly confusing trying to figure everything out from the movie scenes but you have done a great job. I have done a fair bit of work on trying to scale a cantina to roughly minifigure scale. I found that I had to scale it up several times to get it to match the movie. If you are interested check out my flickr for the dimensions that I have settled on.
  23. Good thought, but I think the hunter orc hair from 79016 is already better than that for Lurtz, although neither are perfect. Incidentally, it is really annoying that they left it right until the end to release that hairpiece, so it is rare and expensive.
  24. This makes a huge amount of sense. If the death star has been popular enough to make it an evergreen set for 7 years there is no reason why they wouldn't just keep going with it with updated minifigures and a few changes. I imagine there will be a huge wave of new people coming into it for the first time with the new movie coming out that will have nostalgia for the original trilogy. Also people like me who have been holding off buying this set for years because the figures are too old.
  25. This is definitely a great version of the A-Wing. Jerac's version is more accurate but falls apart very easily and this one looks like the perfect trade off between accuracy and stability if you want something that can be played with. Unfortunately I don't think there is an LDD for this model though.
