  1. Great Model, so many details, and that in 6 wide!
  2. Has been a long time, but I have rebuilt the truck and built some other cars. The American car is currently disassembled, so no update on that one, As some of you have pointed out the Truck was to short so here is the new version: I also modified a City car, I think they should use these wheels more often in the newer sets! And last an American school bus (I just built it because I had the parts, not an exact replica): That's all for now!
  3. Hi there! In this thread I will post my newest designs I made in LDD (I will also update the thread with new models at times). First we have the design I am most proud of: It's the world famous AEC Routemaster Bus from London. The model is 7 studs wide and 26 studs long. It has a staircase and the roof and first floor can be detached. Some facts to the real bus: Manufacturer: Associated Equipment Company Built: 1954-68 In service: 1956-2005 Total built: 2,876 Second another British creation: And here a comparison with all the models I created: From left to right: AEC Routemaster bus AEC Bridgemaster bus British Milk Van (just a general design, no specific car) Morris Mail Van 1936 Austin London Taxi More photos on my flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/94645638@N07/ I'm open for suggestions, so just write them !
  4. This truck is simple, but still it has enough detail so you can recognize it! You did a great job om this!
  5. I love the designs! I really wish TLC would produce a series of 'Old City' sets, sets that would contain such kind of cars!
  6. Thank you for your advises. You probably think of the tender looking similar to Bricktrix's (https://www.flickr.c...57633180693172/) right? I want to build a GNR C1: The problem is that the other trailing wheels of the engine are BBB small flanged wheels, so the tender wheels would probably look bigger than the trailing wheels which they shouldn't, however I have to say that Bricktrix's design somehow caught my eyes, maybe I will give it a try. But then the second problem comes: I really wanted to have the Engine powered, not being pushed. Maybe I'll try to use PF on the engine, the tender would be able to hide the battery box and receiver, I just would have to power the large driving wheels, that would be another big problem. This helped a lot thanks!
  7. I'm currently building a steam engine but have problems building the tender That's what the tender is supposed to look like: That's about how far I have gotten: Now to the problem: As you may see I want to make the tender as detailed as possible, the problem is that the tender has 3 axles and it isn't really easy to hide the motor AND make it turn around curves without derailing. I have seen others just using the ordinary motor cover from Lego, but I think that some details get lost with that. So my question to you is if you know how to keep the detail but make it turn around curves. Furthermore I want to know if anyone has an idea how to add these two "rods" on top of the tender (that I assume should keep the coal in the tender if there is more) (sorry I don't know if they have a name) I think I will keep the livery that I have now. Thanks in advance!
  8. I don't usually tend to prefer futuristic stuff, but this train really gets me. It's a really neat design!
  9. Well, your father did a good job, that's about the best what you can build a train with basic parts. As already mentioned above, the fences are a great use and the curved new parts add the realism to the engine, nice job!
  10. I love the amount of detail you put in this model, it's definitely a very good model for a 'beginner'. It also reminds me of some trains that ran along my line decades ago Are you planning to motorize it? Would be fun to see this train running!
  11. Very nice train, I like that you used the small train wheels for that train, makes it look better. also the colour scheme is nice as well!
  12. Wow, the engines really do look great! I didn't like your color scheme at first (as it was in LDD), but now that really does look good in real life! I assume they are not powered? Your brown coaches look very nice as well! I'm glad to see these pictures and am eager to see some more in the future!
  13. I really like how far your idea has gone to. Any thought of buying the Lego Ghostbusters Set and converting it ?
  14. Great engine, sadly Ben Fleske doesn't produce the driving wheels in green. Only the tender seems to have a little bit too less details around the wheels.
  15. Danke sehr :) (or thank you). Yeah, wasn't that easy to get the curves there Thanks! Thanks, I didn't really design them with the PF components in mind, but then realized that it would be possible. There is nearly no room left in the LMS engine because of the PF, so that was really close to not working. Well I just looked at the real engine, and yes now it seems to big to me as well, had it bigger in mind than it actually was, I probably gonna change that. But then I would have to make the engine higher, it already is a little bit lower than the Emerald Night. Sure. I have attached it. One question: does anybody know if you have to gear down an L or M PF motor to use with Lego's large engine wheels (the ones first used in the Emerald Night), and if, how do you do that to get the right speed? I would rather use an L motor because it has much more torque, I'm just not sure yet if it fits. LMS_Ivatt_2MT_PFsmall.lxf
  16. It really depends. 15 holes apart is possible in curves. The real problem are the switches. I just tried it out and it works fine with 10 holes in between, but I have the 9V switches, don't know with the newer ones as they changed something (if anything, it would work better).
  17. Very nice train! IMO The lego engine looks even better than the real one (maybe because it's cleaned ?). Your model captures the look pretty well, although the stripe on the wagons seems to me to be orange in real life?!
  18. I prefer 7 wide. As several times mentioned here 6 wide looks too tall, and 8 wide sometimes too wide. But that also depends on the engine you are building. Probably I would build an American engine 8 wide and an English engine 7 wide because of the loading gauge difference in real life. Also a 7 wide engine could pull 6 wide and 8 wide coaches.
  19. Hey folks! Well, some years ago I designed a model of an LMS (London Midland and Scottish Railway) Ivatt Class 2MT 2-6-2T engine designed in LDD. So one week ago I changed the livery to the one that was really used and reduced bricks (it just has about 580 for that detailed model). Furthermore I tried to incorporate Power Functions. There is enough room for them, the PF Small motor will definitely fit, but I'll try it with the PF Large motor first. Here is the design from LDD: Here is a pic where you see the PF components: I have built some of the model in real bricks, I just don't have all the parts yet( at least in the right color), though I nearly finished one side: The trailing wheels all clear nicely in curves. I also designed a model of the BR 9F 'Evening Star' which could be operated with Power Functions or 9v in the tender, maybe I will try my hands on that one sometime: I hope you enjoyed it, I will update the thread when it's more finished.
  20. Really nice model, some nice details as well!
  21. I really like the color scheme, I would just move the bogies a little bit inwards. It also might look better if you would make the base plates black, just like the original. Despite that great work, it will be nice to see them sometime with your Flying Scotsman!
  22. Very nice model, so many really smooth curves! Looks just perfect.
  23. The trucks look very nice, also the color scheme fits with the time these trucks were seen on the street! I really like the doors on the first one with the window. How do you outline the bricks? I know there is an option on the LDD preferences, but I can't tick it.
  24. That looks co beautiful, all the windows and arches... just perfect! The entrance catches my eye as well!
  25. Looking fantastic, as always!
