Hah. At least Stringer gets some love, even if they screw up his name.

They would, essentially, be breeding stock; a six-to-one male to female ratio does not lend itself to a sustainable population.

Yeah, only one tribe being female would have some horrific implications. I think "father to son" is probably meant to be taken literally, but they just copied and pasted the description and only changed the element terms and not anything else, so it'll change in future updates. Another interesting thing to note is that Lewa's mask is STILL called "Jungle Mask" not "Mask of Jungle" (when it's not improperly labeled as "Lewa-Master of Jungle"), and the Protector's mask is ALSO labeled as "Jungle Mask" not "Mask of Jungle". It's a very bizarre outlier.

Comics feature more Skull Spider colors like red, so I'm sure we'll be seeing those in the future. Cool. Well, we always knew that they were newly arrived on the island. I wonder how long it's going to take for the rumors of it being a continuation to go away...

It's basically been like that since the site opened =P. I'll take it as a Thanksgiving treat and be done with it.

Just one, but two Disks of Time, at least that's how my tub went. They were also included in some winter promo Vahki sets, used to clear out stock. These days, whenever they're actually available, around ten bucks is what I've seen them go for. I just got one recently... but it was a gift =P (very bendable, those Vahi).

Oh, right, I saw that they were doing some tweaking yesterday. Good to know it wasn't just some glitches! There's some good stuff (the Protectors DO seem to have elemental masks too...) but not much about the protectors as individuals... they wouldn't make the villager characters generic, would they? Would be quite an interesting choice. Anyway, I'm sure we'll see some more updates in the coming days. Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

I wouldn't be surprised to see some retailers break street date some time in December, but November tends to be pushing it. They can't actually advertise these things for the holiday shopping season (such as Black Friday), so it's somewhat pointless anyway.

A little random, but I noticed that B6's account here has the LEGO Ambassador tag; mind if I get one of those too? My sig right now is pretty garish otherwise =P. Deevs should get one too, assuming he wants it.

Well, part of the thinking was always that the underdog needs to win; it's a lot more heroic if you come out of a fight against someone that much bigger than you. So even when you have a larger hero figure for the sets (08 Takanuva, Rockal XL, etc) they don't get to do anything meaningful with their size, and the big bads are taken down by smaller beings. I'll give it to you that the LOSS is an odd first wave villain, but as a non-humanoid, it makes more sense. Ultimately, I think it will be nice to see some larger villain humanoids in the summer.

I'm still not seeing what the problem with 2008 Takanuva is; his size was never used as anything story-breaking, it fit with a pre-established canonical explanation (why the Av-Matoran are of a larger size than most others), and I very much doubt Greg had anything to do with deciding what type of set Takanuva would be. It was just used as a counterpoint to the large villain sets of the previous half of the year.

Actually, he was enlarged by the energies of Karda Nui, so the size was canon too. I thought Witch Doctor's size was a little silly, since he then gets his butt handed to him by minuscule Heroes, but it's something they tweaked for future designs by changing up the sizes of all heroes and villains (now, in BIONICLE, we're seeing the opposite problem!). I'm totally down for larger figures like that, though, those are always the most interesting to me.

Because it's more than just the six specifically who would be called Protectors, not that it's just the six who exist at all. Reading the BS01 page for yourself would have made that fairly apparent, but next time I'll shove some links in my post. Loving the snark, though. I actually really like Islanders as the term, even if it is a bit generic. I'm assuming that the Protectors we know of get named at some point, which I think will probably help with the distinction. Much like the reboot/Vahi issue, I'm taking the comparison of the Protectors as "Turaga" with a grain of salt.

Magic, duh. I'm not really seeing what would lead you to that assumption... do you mean in terms of questing, like they have to find him? I doubt Ekimu is secretly one of the Protectors all along; it's not exactly a fresh trope, and something they've specifically done in multiple LEGO stories. There's no mention of any particular worship, aside from general reverence of the Mask Makers (collectively) as providers of useful things. On BS01 we're calling them collectively the Protectors, because some of the shop descriptions make it sound like there are more than just the six we've seen, but it's all up in the air at this point. Could very easily be something different that we'll find out in the story. Which won't be for a bit yet.

I think it's a fun little collectible, I didn't mind shelling out nearly twice that for it. Given the new head molds, I think it'll be neat to see what people can come up with in the future; maybe use some trans shell pieces from HF to make an all-transparent figure? That kind of thing. If you're tapped into BZP's goings on, they'll probably be giving away plenty over the next few years, so you can always wait for that. (I think the Trans-orange Haus would probably fit a Tahu figure better, but DV is hoarding those the lucky bugger)

(I don't think people give the Inika nearly enough credit, but anyway) That's the beauty of CCBS. They can all share the same core strength but diversify in appearance.

I'll still give LOSS a shot. Could be one of those things everybody loathes but that I end up loving (see: Icarax).

I don't necessarily want to see any old character back (Takanuva excepted) and I thought Makuta was pushing it a little bit. But I liked that they weren't bringing back Teridax, the character, and rather Makuta, the representation of darkness (not that I had any problems with Teridax's post-2001 characterization!). If we are going to get old characters or terms, I'd like to see more broad strokes concepts; a thief calling themselves "Piraka", or "The Dark Hunter" or something like that. Something that's a fun nod to the original series without going overboard.

I still kinda wish we'd save some of the reviews for the actual year they're released, but I understand they want to be up in time for the holiday season, just in case. LOSS is definitely one I'm looking forward to, though.

Way to be an alarmist, VBBN, gosh. No but seriously it's good to know that their revision to the masks is working. (also BS01 also has a Twitter account you guys should go follow that too)
