I'm on board! Although I do quite love the new sets so far. And the rapid shooter is tight.

Just by the way, Tahu looks INCREDIBLY cool with the NYCC mask.

Got my first 2015 sets! Protector of Fire and Tahu. Haven't built Tahu yet; POF is super cool looking, although lacking in playability. Those stubby arms are pretty ridiculous =P

But we're still getting five (six?) titan sets, as far as we understand; in terms of set releases, this is a pretty unprecedented move for BIONICLE, and I can easily see them including the masks across these sets. Not necessarily all at once, or (as I mentioned) maybe this skull-face we see is the MOUP, but it's not being released until later (which is exactly what happened with the Mask of Creation, even assuming we get THAT one!). Haha, I was actually thinking the MoCr is functioning like the Avohkii, and the Mask Maker isn't actually Ekimu, but the "Takanuva" of sorts. But regardless, it is hard to tell; we haven't actually seen the Mask of Control in set form either, so the only thing we have to base this on are the other masks, which can look fairly different from their set incarnations (partly due to the expressiveness the creative team is trying to imbue). Right, but why wouldn't you make it their endgoal? The Toa have been explicitly instructed to collect all of the masks; winter is collecting the six Golden masks (and the GMOSS fits in there somewhere), but the other part of their task is retrieving the ones lost to the wilderness. We see them going after the MoCr, which isn't a set piece yet, so why would they not continue on? Some mid-game shift will tell us the answer, likely, but they're in play for a reason. Besides, owning or retrieving the mask doesn't automatically make them win everything; look at the Vahi.

I've... always done bold =P. Some people do colors, I use bold as a posting mechanism. Makes me look distinguished. I think. I'm not really seeing where the "three years=three masks" idea is coming from. Numbers seem coincidental to me; not to mention we have the scary face in the corner of the 2015 teasers (which looks nothing like the skull-face teaser), so why would they drag those sorts of things out? We don't have much context, granted, but even in BIONICLE's heyday, there wasn't much of a specific tease like that (barring the Ignika, which I'll mention below). The Ignika is basically the counterpoint to that. That thing went through so many design changes, and even once it had been finalized, we didn't see it in that specific form until the next year. Besides, the animations show a pointedly obscured image that could end up being anything. It has six points and is deliberately enshrouded. The skull-face has six points and is deliberately obfuscated by shadows. There's not much to go on, but it's not a far-fetched intuitive leap. Again, something that could be coincidental. If we hadn't seen any leaked information, we'd totally think this was the MOUP. Not to mention the "skull" imagery looks markedly different from our current interpretation of skulls, the Skull Spiders. I mean, it totally could be one of the skull villains and might very well be. But there's a lot of room for interpretation. Well now that you say it like that I do! Then again we basically had that in 2013 with Brain Attack, so I can't really complain. Knight Furno was awesome.

I don't see why we wouldn't get the MOUP, necessarily. I mean, there's always a chance that this is the MOUP but it won't actually be in a set until the next wave, since that seems to be what's going on with the Mask of Creation. Lots of variables there.

YES. YES IT WOULD BE. That's what I personally was hoping it would be, since there's not much explanation for its prevalence otherwise. We'll see.

The website is still technically listed as a "sneak peak"... people have been forgetting that it isn't January since, well, October. There will be some form of game at some point, but what kind is up for debate. A horde shooter mobile/browser game is likely, since that's what worked (well enough) with Hero Factor, and the Skull Spiders clearly lend themselves to swarm villains. But considering that they're pulling out a lot of stops for this relaunch, I could see something bigger. Also, got the magazine in; not expecting many more, so it's nice to get the one with the BIONICLE pamphlet.

Huh, never occurred to me that they could be created with the mask; always seemed a sci-fi taboo, magically creating life without due process. We know the LOSS uses the Golden Mask of Skull Spiders (GMOSS? Blech) to control them, but I always figured that Makuta was controlling the LOSS using his own Mask of Creation.

Thousands of years, specifically, if that's indeed the order of events (according to the booklet, anyway). Anyway, I can dig that as the timeline.

This is what I keep asking! Anyway, not to derail the Time conversation, but on a tangent, I'm having a bit of difficulty reconciling the timeline (NO PUN INTENDED) of what happens with Ekimu. I had assumed it went: Fight -> Knocked unconscious for thousands of years -> found by Protectors -> Toa summoned. Now it's being pointed out to me that it could have been something more like: Fight -> Knocked unconscious -> Found by Protectors -> Entombed for thousands of years -> Toa summoned. Any thoughts?

I guess I'm just used to cheesy artbooks that come with video games, which contain a foreward and not much else =P. A proper artbook would be super, although I quite liked Faber's random uploads, which as you mentioned often contained some background on what he was thinking at the time.

The CEE team has mentioned that they're going to make the subscription exclusive to kids under 13; a few regions have the restriction in place by now, but it's supposed to be global by 2015. As I mentioned, there's bound to be a ton of logistical errors because their magazine service can get complicated, but I wouldn't count on more issues. Maybe this one, since it's the start of the new system. Talk which has been all but debunked as confusion and misinterpretation, no? Obviously there's some kind of reference to time, but it still doesn't have anything to do with G1; it's not an "alternate timeline" for G1, unless you meant they're introducing that concept into G2, in which case maybe =P. But we've seen one wave of villains so far that bear a passing resemblance to previous ones, so I wouldn't say they're "based on".

I think people more meant just figuring out in what capacity it will appear, and how the Gen1 Vahi connects if at all (beyond just being an easter egg). It's an exciting prospect regardless! That... sounds more like a weird glitch than anything regional or otherwise =P. But yeah, it's not a particularly exciting combiner, just novel in that it's different from the "power up" mode.

Anybody can use the LEGO Club site, even if you're not eligible for the magazine. Even if you don't have an account, you can access the webpage. Try changing your region if you're still having issues.

Huh, a bit strange that they'd include an alternate like that. Then again, we don't really know what the story significance (if any) there is behind them, so maybe they can power up multiple ways?

Possibly a logistical error, since those happen a LOT. Or maybe he lied about his age. (or maybe it's for his kid![/depressing]) Anyway, might be one of the skull guys, or might be the MOUP, since we've barely seen anything of it (and besides, remember the Ignika?). We'll find out, since it's almost January!

I mean... we have the Mask of Creation, which likely won't appear until the summer, and it's been the focal point of the relaunch; makes sense they'd introduce us a counterpart as well even if we don't get to it for a while =P.

Perhaps Ekimu's spirit is detached from the body somehow (why else would he be described as "lifeless"?), something like Mata Nui? His body is obviously entombed, unless something happened to it.
