I just wish we could corroborate that somehow. BZP is being mum on the issue other than having previously said it was a reboot; surely they interviewed the panelists? I imagine it will be made clearer in the next few days, either online or from statements at NYCC, but it's two competing sources against each other otherwise.

Well, the Vahi was carved from the Disk of Time, which in turn was made from the six great disks. We knew all that from the main story. Greg said at one point that the Great Disks were made by Artakha, but that hasn't been reinforced anywhere else in the story, per se. So if we retcon the "made by Artakha" thing, the six disks could have at one point been a part of the Disk of Time itself before being split, and maybe the DoT was also a counterpart to something... etc. Or maybe the Mask of Creation has to do with the Vahi. Who knows? I'm not worried about them making the story fit, as it were. With a bit of hoop jumping, there's plenty of plausible scenarios that can be made. I just wanted a fresh start so we wouldn't have to belabor any of these points. And I'm still hoping for it.

Well, in a more general sense, the twist would have been similar. Either way, the Toa didn't fully realize the scope of their undertaking, nor did they actually realize what Mata Nui represented. Mata Nui not existing at all would have paved the way for something different, to be sure, but I think the implications on the story are similar.

Well, the jury is apparently still out on it being a reboot (I'm going to treat it as one until we get some confirmation), but I fail to see how the barebones fragments we've been presented with are anything less than what we got in 2001. It's not like they can telegraph a major plot twist ahead of time, so... seems a bit unfair to judge a day's worth of prelease information against the entirety of ten years of a story.

I think they're slightly different pieces, but if they are, that makes customizing a lot easier. Either way, them heads are sweet looking. Natch that they aren't compatible with anything else, though.

I wish. It's just the masks in the colors we know them as. Silver Skull Spider from Kopaka, green from Onua/Tahu, and the rest are the Toa masks.

I think he gets blamed unfairly for that. I mean, aside from MNOG (and MNOG2), there never was any romance type things. Seems much more a decision by the story team.

But... if it branches off from the original, is it "completely new"? This is the problem I have with the varying definitions =P. If TTV is right in their information, then it would seem so. I had gotten my hopes up when they said they'd reduce the terminology to make it more accessible, so I don't see why they'd pull something like this...

Honestly, the Start Trek reboot is a horrible example because it is an alternate universe. We've already had those, and they're supposed to be pretty different. If we want to shuffle around some definitions, fine, but I much prefer the idea of a brand new continuity. The fact that there's any doubt at all shows how messy it'll be anyway, since people define "reboot" in five million different ways...

So TTV is reporting that this could be a soft reboot? Enthusiasm, I hardly knew ye. (hopefully they're wrong)

I wouldn't mind an allusion of some kind, but a cameo basically opens up the floodgates for all sorts of alternate universe kabbitzing.

I'm personally more excited for Makuta's mask, and I pray they have a gold version of it.

I'm sure somebody has mentioned this in the pages I skipped, but... The way the Masters are listed on the site are in their old Kaita combinations. It's probably a coincidence, but I'll hope that somebody was paying attention here =P.

This is what I'm hoping for. I don't want them to be the rarest of the rare, but a bit of challenge would be nice. If only the set packaging was see through...

So we have the OG6 Toa fighting against Makuta and searching for masks, and that's NOT enough callbacks? I appreciate new names, as long as they're restrained (which it sounds like they're going to be!).

The Dorek is always right! The Dorek is also dealing with high volumes of traffic on BS01's crappy server. No but seriously I think Lewa's is the second most diverged from the original (Gali's excepted) so I get how some people might find it off. With Gali, it's pretty clear cut "like it or hate it". Overall, I'm supremely stoked.

See, this is exactly why I said it being a reboot would make sense. If these bios were legit AND this is a continuation, they've already broken the point.
