Yeah, it's the latest episode. Turns out they did recycle some of the character animation stuff, but obviously went more in depth. I'm looking forward to the next episode, where hopefully we can see what the Skull Spiders actually do when they facehug.

Since there seems to be a demand for it, why not? Talk about aspects of the old BIONICLE story here! And a handy link to BIONICLEsector01, the most accurate BIONICLE wiki around, for your reference convenience. (Totally not a shameless plug)

Much like any program, the Matoran needed to serve a purpose. The stuff the Po-Matorans mined went to Ta-Metru, where they made masks, which kept the Matoran alive so that they could work, and the working is what keeps Mata Nui alive. The specifics of how the work kept Mata Nui alive never quite materialized, but it's intended to be a self-sufficient system.

A small percentage of the regular posters said it, with others commenting on the possibility without agreeing to the idea. And people disliking it doesn't mean they're agreeing that it's a tracing, it means they don't like the style (which is totally fine). Assuming that they are traces without any evidence for it was the insulting part. If (giving the benefit of the doubt, which should be done...) this artist created this from scratch, which is what most artists do because that's called working, it's insulting to say he didn't put enough effort into it. It was the inclusion OF its canonicity in the first place that led me to assume you were trying to tie the points together (and since the assumption of it being tracings is what I would call "baseless", it's perhaps not so much of a stretch). Whether or not they're canon shouldn't have an impact on how these are perceived at all. But in terms of BIONICLE, it quite often does, which is a shame. I was just pointing out that we have seen these scenes in multiple different iterations, so a new, stylized take on it shouldn't surprise anyone. I don't follow Ninjago, so I'll admit I won't quite get the reference. But I was more saying that I want a line (in its entirety) that can be free to offer up different impressions without being beholden to this leviathan we call "canon". I want a story; I want a consistent story. But if one artist decides to include some ancient rubble in his depiction, I'm not that enthralled with people insisting (or even assuming) that it has to mean something. It's that kind of holdover from Gen 1 (where if some minor background detail doesn't already mean something, you can MAKE it mean something!) that I don't want to see in the new generation.

First off, only a few people have said this kind of thing. Calling something "trace artwork" is incredibly insulting to the artist who very likely put in a lot of time and effort to these drawings, and just because it doesn't fit into some bizarre preconceptions that BIONICLE fans have doesn't make it bad. Second, being canon or not canon does not, again, automatically disqualify it from being good. We've seen plenty of depictions of the Toa getting their golden masks, some in the favored DumDum style, some not. Canonicity at this point is very likely going to be a lot more fluid than the ironclad stuff of the past, and the line is so much better for it. This is just another depiction of the story from another artist. You don't have to like it, but it's not a bad thing, and I actually am quite taken with the style, especially the details.

Assuming he's wrong just because he's a newbie is the type of mistake a geriatric old senior like ourselves would make~ I mean, I can see where the argument is coming from, even if I don't subscribe to it myself. I still dig the style. I wonder who the artist is... have there been any more comics with this style in the UK Magazine? (assuming it was that; citation needed)

I have a feeling the golden Protector mask is just wishful thinking, but I'd love to see it too. Only a few more weeks until Toyfair! Then we'll get a good idea of what they look like. Watcha gonna get as your first sets?

I actually really like the style. Yeah, they could be tweaked to be a bit more individual, but quite frankly the first comic from 2001 very nearly turned me off for the same reason. I wouldn't discount this one example, and I'd love to see more of it in the future. Also, where did these comics actually come from? The text is English, but there's not much there besides that. Which version of the magazine? (And is that version available online? :U)

Man, so much disdain for the 2.0 foot =P I like it because it's incredibly functional; it's a foot, it looks like a foot, it acts like a foot, it only has slightly weird foot proportions. It's purposeful to the best degree. But I can see people getting bored of it, seeing how often it's been reused.

I dunno, I always liked the Piraka feet; more organic, but in a recognizable way. I'm still pretty hit-and-miss on the new foot; it's well sized, but it looks really incomplete without any sort of attachment.

Given that masks have always been (and as evidenced by the reboot, continue to be) such a focus, it's not too likely... I hope =P. They'll introduce specialized head pieces, probably, or maybe change the style of mask attachment, but BIONICLE G1 did those things too. Hero Factory toyed around with a number of different head and helmet styles (a damn shame the Brain Attack ones didn't see more use), so there's bound to be some experimentation. But masks have always been an integral part of the BIONICLE experience, and they've shown this in the new reboot, so I doubt they'll ever get as bad as Ben-10.

Problem is that sales don't support it, generally. Especially given the rising costs in plastic and production (although the masks themselves are getting smaller, so that's a plus), it's usually not feasible. I imagine we'll get some recolors from time to time (like the NYCC Tahu Mask, and I'm convinced the Trans-Orange one exists for a reason) but supplemental mask packs is unlikely.

Cool that they do that, although a bit sad that LOSS doesn't have anyone to combine with. Hopefully we see a Club Combiner for him down the line.

Y'know, the splash image is a lot less bamf when they're just sorta floating through the air... I mean, what's Kopaka kneeling on??

It's actually on the BIONICLE page, I was going to point it out =P. I still can't believe we won't get a Makuta set...

Mine don't stick fast, but they're not flapping all over the place. Just a bit of wobble to show that, yes, this is a feature.

I'm going to get the LOSS, I think, since Tahu needs a proper villain to fight.

Anybody else get an apology email from LEGO about the BIONICLE sets being out of stock on the first? Free shipping code, which is nice... might have to place an order now.

I did see that! I don't think there's any specific encoded message, it's just a thematic reference; we have the Temple of Time and now apparently a Mask of Time, summoning heroes from Time itself... obviously this will play into the larger story, so the Vahi (as an old-school gen 1 favorite) is a clever way to acknowledge that part of the fanbase. Still hoping we get some kind of "new" Mask Maker because Ekimu's dead or something. Or maybe we get a revamped Ekimu next year.

Nobody would agree because the Ussanui was amazing get out. I'm not really digging the idea of Ekimu being a protector-sized being, so I'm still hoping it's some kind of Takanuva-esque figure that finds the mask instead, but we'll see, I guess.

Problem is those buckets were used mostly for surplus parts (I always liked them, but still) that they wanted to get rid of. I assume CCBS parts can be recycled a lot more easily.

Because they don't have enough trucks and drivers to handle a given load. It's not like it's literally sitting on their truck, they see it's your address, and go "nah". They could overload, but that requires paying the drivers in overtime, and you didn't pay for that. Logistics, dontchaknow. [/worked for UPS]
