Indeed. Unless the fiancee was planning on you doing Star Wars MOCs, I'm not sure why he didn't get you a green baseplate!

Found: NISB Grand Emporium for $100
rollermonkey replied to rollermonkey's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
You thought they'd last 5 days at that price? -
OMG. I just realized you have Tivoli in there! The microscale is amazing in general, and the insane amount of SNOT is absolutely ridiculous. Did you pre-plan everything, or was it more of a 'we'll figure it out as we go' kind of build?

[MOC] Ecto-1 Ghostbusters (Ex hearse/Icecream truck) Monster Fighters
rollermonkey replied to B Rick's topic in LEGO Licensed
Oh... So this is the forum for where my little Monster Fighters MOC would go. (I cannibalized my two 40076 polybags towards a different build and made a plane out of the remainders.) -
Ah, that's cool that you're so close, then. That order is for your MS and CC right? I just realized that I can hit the PAB wall at my local LEGO store for some of these GG parts. :o

^That's tough to do, because BL will often have parts that BnP doesn't.

What will happen when you run out of space?

Then you either need to buy a bigger house, or not display all of them, because that's a heck of a lot of sets. -

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
rollermonkey replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
You have to remember: Disney is the king of synergy. I mean, they release a book, a sequel, a soundtrack, costumes, amusement park rides and characters, toys, video games, TV shows, broadway shows, and more in support of a property... If they cancelled TCW, you can bet there's something about the rights or distribution that made it inconvenient for them to provide the usual carpet bombing of related media and merchandise profitably for them. ...and subsequently, we're most likely about to get a flood of Rebels goodies in place of Clone Wars. -
What will happen when you run out of space?
rollermonkey replied to MatthewH's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Space is infinite. It's not possible to run out. That said, what are you displaying, and why? Do you have every last set on display from Death Star to poly bags? Or just the UCS sets? Do you play with them so often you can't possibly put anything away, or are they collecting more dust than holocrons? The answers to these will help figure out what your course of action should be. -

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
rollermonkey replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm betting the CW exclusives are done for, and it will be a Rebels set this Summer. Dizknee seems to be distancing themselves from the Clone Wars Saga pretty quickly. ...and the clamoring for Walrus Man and the bartender again already? We're just as likely to get Beru for May the Fourth: In other words, not at all. I'm calling it now: My prediction for May the Fourth, (if it's not TC-4) is... Figrin D'an Yup. Bandleader of the Modal Nodes. -
When I was a kid, most sets used to come in boxes like a pizza box, and I used to dump them all out into the box and root through them to build. Now that most sets, and all of the biggest ones, open from the end, that's not a real option. So, I open each bag, and array them all around my building area (AKA my desk) and reach and pull and return, and repeat until the set is done. I gotta say, my back was SCREAMING when I finally finished Tower Bridge. I don't think there's any way I could build a set that large again with unnumbered bags.
-
Yeah, I don't have much more room, and I'm going to need to do something if I'm going to start doing modulars... Sydney Opera House, London Bridge, B-Wing UCS, X-Wing UCS, R2 UCS, all 21 Architecture sets, plus the big Space Shuttle and the Y-Wing and A-Wing are starting to take up some serious space. I also have three salt-water aquariums right now while I'm upgrading one... Now you know why the wife's not happy about money. On topic, all four of my BL orders are paid and on the way. :)

I think as long as you stay away from using chewed up lollipop sticks as staves, or other real-world items in your project, and stick with all brick-built items, you should be OK. :)
-
I think you misunderstood my smileys... I was inferring that the only reason to disassemble a set was for mod'ing or MOC'ing, thus never being rebuilt in original form, or even being disassembled without plans for immediate reutilization. The truth is that since Architecture sets drew me out of the dark age, all of which are still displayed in original form. Apart from those, I've only bought Star Wars UCS sets, which are still displayed in original form and a very small number of Star Wars sets (3) that are also still built, but not displayed. So... I have no idea what I'll do, or when it will become a factor. :) Although, I did actually make a small MOC from the leftovers of the two Monster Fighters, I have yet to really amass enough bricks and sets to really start doing interesting things on any kind of scale.
-
Not with that set number. ;)

I thought I had at least one more polybag around, and sure enough: a second Monster Fighters poly was in my nightstand, which actually completes two more lots. (Shovels and black 1x2 slopes) The clear piece for the cash register is missing from the first one I found, otherwise that'd be done, too. And I actually have three more lots on hand, if I'm willing to break up my 3300014... Top hat, trans clear head and red 1X2 arch, plus seven other pieces... Nah. I can order all of them.
-
You build sets the same way more than once? In other 'news' I figured I'd go through my little stash of extra parts that have came in sets since I came out of the dark ages, because I knew there was one or two parts in there I could use for GG. In less than 1/4 of a PAB cup, I had 15 lots, plus 64 additional pieces, for a total of 114 pieces. OK, I also cannibalized a three polybags I don't care about, but still. Not too shabby, but it's a shame that I didn't do this first, I actually ordered a couple 1x1 tiles and 1x1 plates that I didn't actually need. I think I'm up to 34 of 311 lots now.
-
I have NEVER dumped all the LEGO from one set into a big pile. Every piece stays in the bag it came in until it gets attached to the build. Made Tower Bridge a complete nightmare, but apart from that, it works great for me. I can usually remember what's in which bag within the first few minutes or so of starting.

lol at TLG and their numbers. And yes, I mean "blue".

I like the Falcon. It's surprisingly sturdy. The X-wing is a little chibi for my tastes, though. I haven't bothered with the others at this point, so I have no opinions on them. -
Very cool. The change in field scale between baseball and football is pretty small, but between those fields and the seating is a bit jarring. At least in the gymnastics arrangement, the seating and the equipment is similar scale. Love the exteriors and the dome, though. I'd love to see a picture of the underside of the dome.

^Interesting. The dark blue for the awning is one of the very first pieces that will make it's way to my mail box. :) Here's a question: What is the difference between 4276180 and 4539103? Both are inverted slopes in the red family / new dark red, but the online instructions have the 427 part and the BnP has the 453 instead. Is one a replacement for the other? Are they the same color? They have the same design ID, and they look the same...
