Since they are now making tiles that are 'upside down' (studs on top, smooth bottom) could those be used on the inside of the plate fins, or would the increased thickness not be worth it?

Y-Wing pilot in the B-Wing set, Han in the A-Wing set... really, the list is long. -

Looked 'em up. Death Star is 24 including brickbuilt droids, Ewoks is 17 with R2...and those are both well over $200. Meanwhile Sea Cow is $250 and has 4 plus two. There really is no rhyme nor reason, is there? -
The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
rollermonkey replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I watched that play out at the store today. kid and his mom are looking over the movie sets. The kid clearly wants the Sea Cow, and mom looked pretty pained when she saw the price. They both liked the Metalbeard character, and she looked like she was trying to think of a way to tell the kid no when she spotted the Metalbeard's Duel set. Sea Cow went back on the shelf, and they walked out with the smaller set and a couple of CMF.- 2,626 replies

I keep seeing a lot of griping about the new Snowspeeder, but isn't this the first one at system/minifig scale that seats two in the cockpit? -

Um, that sub looks to have been about 3000+ pieces. If they make it, it'll be $400 and everyone will complain that it's too expensive. -

The best evidence for this over-the-top, tongue-in-cheekiness is the actual set name on the box for the one we ALL want: Benny's Spaceship Spaceship! SPACESHIP!!- 158 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
rollermonkey replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nope. Planet hemispheres don't have clicky-hinges. So... Cantina, Snowspeeder, AT-AT are all must haves. I have the UCS B-Wing, so maybe I could just BL the figs from the new one? ISD is a maybe. I've wanted one for a while, but I'm not in love with this one. I'm too old to care about Rebels, TCW or TYC, so at least I won't break the bank too bad. -

The use of a 2x2 turntable was such a no-brainer, I cannot fathom why they didn't do that in the first place.

Quality of service at LEGO stores.
rollermonkey replied to Gatthekid's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Generally excellent, even when incredibly crowded, like they were when I went on Saturday. -
I built it last night, and I love it. The cycle doesn't look like it was built from something specific because it wasn't. Wyldstyle built it from random stuff in an alley. Also, I think there's a trend through the movie that as it goes on, the things being built get crazier and crazier, and the Super Cycle is the very first thing we see built, and Emmett's construction mech is the culmination of that trend. Within the set itself, I'm not even sure which vehicle I like better. I'm a big fan of interesting uses of the bulldozer tracks, so I love the bike, but the cop car is an absolute BEAST. I fit all three roboswats in there easily, and all the police accessories (minus the spike strip) fit in the car's trunk.

I grabbed 75000 while paying for Super Cycle Chase to get over $50 for the Piece Of Resistance... And promptly forgot about the Microfighters I wanted.

Spoiler - Lego Movie sets and film comparison with spoilers
rollermonkey replied to SMC's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Finally got to see it today. Wow. I don't know if AFOLs should be offended or not. :) Definitely thinking MOCers are OK, but folks who might not be as keen about alternate builds might be wondering if TLG doesn't like them very much. One takeaway that I had is the Emmett's construction mech set does not look like it is going to be even close to movie accurate, particularly compared to most of the other sets that get screen time. Definitely think that the Cloud Cuckoo set got the short end of the stick, and the submarine looks like it'd be a $400 set if it did get released. Oh, and I want the cycle chase set even more now, but I can still take or leave almost everything else.
