[TC16] Helix
Seasider replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Obvious suggestions for the front would be to house the command deck/module here with a nose like Event Horizon or one of the Star Wars Corvettes this is going to be a beast of a model -
So it’s taken me a while to decide what I was going to build and I’ve settled on an exploration Rover vehicle. I’ve been watching some of the Mars tv programme by National Geographic and this along with The Martian and Lost in Space (Netflix) will be my main sources of inspiration. I'm calling it Scarab as it’ll have 6 wheels. I’m planning on them all being driven. Just not too sure how many will steer or in which direction. As in front 2 axles steer (2nd not as much as 1st) or axles 1 & 3 steer to the same amount but in opposite directions. Oh and the axles will be a lot further apart than this. I mainly spent last night working on this some suspension geometry. I’m reasonably happy with it. I’ve also got a rough body shape that I’ve not taken a pic of. But that’s just to work around as it’ll be taken apart as I add more bits. still not sure if this will me a manual or partially powered model. Depends on how much space I get to mount motors etc vs the look and feel I want. I hope to provide updates on a weekly basis as the boss now works away from home mid week so I can get a solid night building once a week.

[TC16] Helix
Seasider replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lots of SciFi ships tend to be long and thin ... Tantive IV, Discovery One, Event Horizon, Icarus 2 (Sunshine) & The Nightflyer to name a few. Also remember in space you only need engines to get going in a certain direction unless you have plenty of energy available and want to keep on moving most craft when they’re out of an atmosphere rarely use their engines. Think Babylon 5, not Star Wars. also @heyitsdisty is right, the ships name does sound very cleansing -

The main ship in 2001 is called Discovery One. Looking forward to seeing your build. Think it’s going to be huge looking at the initial picture -
42098 - Car Transporter
Seasider replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I assume the Vette will fit on the transporter too? -
The cab is very sticker heavy. Hardly any of the underlying orange is on display. Not sure if I’ll get this straight away (I’m assuming it’s out in August?) and perhaps wait to see if it gets a discount or if there’s a better set in H1 2020 with the new electronics. do we know much about the app yet? Will we be able to create our own layouts like sbrick ?

Not sure that I’ll get the set but I’ll definitely be getting the new colours for the small wheel arch -
Generic Contest Discussion
Seasider replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I’m sure @Jim has some great ideas. I like the sci fi idea but hopefully it’ll be a bit more specific than build something sci fi! perhaps something “Mission to Mars” themed like the new City sets linked to NASAs Mars concepts -
Technic 2019 Set Discussion
Seasider replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I saw some of this on Instagram this morning. Very interesting and slightly annoying as I’d invested in an sbrick not too long ago and it looks like this will do the same. Very happy to see there will be adapted cables for the current PF system stuff. I assume we’ll see the H2 sets soon too now that this is out -

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Seasider replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
How big a sub-theme do we think the new Space sets will be? Do we think it’ll just be the 7 sets or do we think there will be further sets of a same style? As I’m loving the fact these look like current nasa, spacex craft and suggestions -
Technic Pub
Seasider replied to jantjeuh's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
enjoy your holiday @Jim - hoping you'll be in a competition mood on your return -
Some of the best sets are often the non powered ones in my opinion. Like all Lego themes I think there should be a spread of all types of models. The current tracked Forrest grabber model is a great example of a good Technic set. Powered doesn’t necessarily equal great

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Seasider replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
The new wheel arch piece looks like a recolour of the Corvette piece which is the small of the technic arches. gives new oportunities for more models -
General Part Discussion
Seasider replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Has everyone seen the 2019 City set images ... new Technic parts ... a Wheelarch in Dark Blue possibly the same shade as the Boss Crawler ? ... and on the new Space sets the space station has a "docking ring" that has Technic pin holes- 5,507 replies

[MOC] The Mill Blackbird
Seasider replied to Chawn's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I remember seeing this in the automotive press a couple of years back and thought it was an interesting idea. I’ve no idea if it’s been used on any films yet. does your Technic version run with the chassis extended? You show in the video that you can extend it but I don’t remember seeing it driving in this form -

Seasider replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling

LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Seasider replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I was hoping for a UCS display set and I don’t think this is it. Think I’ll have to see it before I decide to buy or not as I really wanted a Tantive IV.
