  1. It’s not going to be a Bear copy. That would be HUGE at this scale im sticking to the Twin theme and doing a twin boom something like a Cessna O2
  2. Looking forward to seeing this. I was going to go twin boom too but more Cessna O2 shaped
  3. Looks like a good start. I wouldn’t limit yourself to the shape and type of plane by the engine type you’ve chosen. I always think of radials for things like the triple engined Junkers or barnstormer biplanes.
  4. Hello all ... So I jumped for joy with the new competition but the problem for me is what to build. I’d built Technic Gliders (triple competition) and Autogyros (jfair) before so needed a new challenge. I’m not sure how big or complex this is going to be or actually what it looks like overall but i knew I wanted to do a prop airplane as that’s more my thing. But I want to make it as quirky as possible while still being in the realms of real engineering. (I do have an aero degree after all). Just to show how many aircraft I’ve got here’s a collection of propellor blades. and here’s what I’ve spent this evening working on for about 4 hours ... I wanted to have a challenge with the powertrain so I’ve gone like this ... Contra-Rotating (Counter-Rotating) Propellors. Now I just need to work out how to mount this and more importantly in what!
  5. From Dictionary . Com aircraft noun, plural air·craft. any machine supported for flight in theair by buoyancy or by the dynamicaction of air on its surfaces, especiallypowered airplanes, gliders, andhelicopters.
  6. Sort of agree with your list but wouldn’t have said Yes to rockets and SSTO craft as I class them as spacecraft. but I’m not a mod
  7. Well technically the Space Shuttle was a very very very large Glider. but if it’s a rocket that’s not an aircraft
  8. It’s saying 26th December on the uk store for the 1st 4 sets for 2019
  9. I agree @Jim I think a hovercraft would fall more into a watercraft/boat competition.
  10. I’d say yes to Ground Effect as it’s technically flying just at very low altitude for efficiency hovercraft fall into the amazingly grey zone. They have pilots and hover on a cushion of air. But need the ground in close proximity and are often classified as amphibious craft. I never did any work on hovercraft when doing my aero degree at uni
  11. I think that means they’re the same then in terms of diameter and so that gives us a narrow and wide road tyre
  12. Now the question is what to build. I might have to find something a bit unusual from past aviation. I’ve done gliders and autogyros in the past so what to do this time ...
  13. Does anyone know if these narrow tyres have the same rolling radius as the 22 wide ? It would then be useful for making models of cars with narrower fronts like caterham and lotus
  14. It’s useful as a spacer between liftarms. @Jim so have you decided what order to build in? Biggest first, smallest first, or just favourite?
  15. I thought they’re Jan 1st release normally. There’s nothing on the Lego website for them yet and the 1st is this Saturday.
  16. Isn’t that just a 63869 perpendicular connector on the left? good news @Jim Can you add a competition into those plans? My Lego building brain is itching ... so much so I’m drawing up plans for a pit lane for my Speed Champions cars ... but I could do with a new Technic challenge
  17. Where in Wolfsburg is it? I’m guessing in autostadt somewhere? Unfortunately I haven’t got any work trips planned.
  18. I’m liking the tracked B model more and more
  19. Great bare bones Technic model. How does it compare size wise to the UCS Falcon? I do agree that the lip at the rear looks a bit odd.
  20. If you zoom in on the side view (pic 4) above I think you’re right and it’s a yellow lift arm on one side and a dark one on the other. I wonder if this is the usual colour ideas for preventing confusion during build
  21. I don’t think we’ll another car in 2019. Wasn’t there a 2 year gap between the Porsche and Bugatti? Does it normally work out that new parts in H1 translate into sets in H2? in that case I’d say a small 4x4 or truck using the small orange arches and hopefully a big tracked bulldozer or some other large construction equipment with the new yellow sprocket gear
  22. I think I’m looking at buying the Tracked loader first because I love both models (hoping I can build a copy of the b with my existing part set rather than buying 2), then the vette as much because I want the small arches and then if it looks better in real life the Porsche but part of that will depend on how the arches are done as I could really use those on other potential models if they’re stickers and not printed.
  23. Now I do like the look of that, especially how the two models are linked in theme which makes you want to have both built.
  24. @Cumulonimbus my desk at work has 5 Speed Champions GT cars on it, and I’m not the only 1 in my office :) im thinking the Vette may be good for desk display
