Have LEGO Movies become extended advertisements?
Peppermint_M replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It gets kids reading at least Also, can we not devolve things into personal arguments? That would be great, thanks. Or you know, Admin and Moderators will have to start getting involved in a different sort of discssion. -
Have LEGO Movies become extended advertisements?
Peppermint_M replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yet my family enjoyed the movies and we happily all went along to watch all of them. I'm not looking for high art, I am looking for an enjoyable 90 minutes or so diversion. Then again, I love popcorn flicks. Sky Captain, The Phantom, Indiana Jones, A Knight's Tale are favourites and if I want to watch animation that is not created to sell toys then I'll watch Anime movies. Let's get real, all cartoons since the 80's have only existed as a tool to sell toys. LEGO surprised everyone with the original LEGO Movie and knew that they could sell a lot of toys if their breakout-popular take on Batman had his own movie. If there wasn't more sets than you could ever believe for The Batman movie, someone would complain that X character or Y vehicle did not make it to a set. So yeah, it might be one massive advert for their toy (It has never been presented as anything else, honestly) but I still enjoyed it all. If I have one complaint, it is simply that I prefer Cole's face prints from before the Ninjago movie. -

What sort of light is best for building?
Peppermint_M replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
White LED is very good for true colour. My build space is lit by a light that is a little on the yellow side, so I end up using my phone flash on flashlight mode to pull the right parts. -

I am leaving it up to voters on those counts. Really, this is our dream versions of Ninjago sets. Build cool things! Share cool MOCs! -
Ninjago Legacy Contest
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
None at all, as long as it is in the spirit of a Legacy set, it will be eligible to enter. -
It is a little easier in part, there are functions to the software that LDD didn't have. A "pan" tool being top of the list. All the colours are available in the paint pallett and a decent rendering program is tagged on. I still prefer real bricks though

I got a double pack that had the mini excavator and the Harvester + truck for £17.50, the Millennium Falcon Micro Fighter for £6, Anna and Elsa Disney CMFs today. Some cool bargains today.

This is superb. I especially like that giant flower (I am unfamiliar with the element used? Where did it come from?) The "frame" for the Caveman's things is a very nice use of parts and the foliage is perfect. Thanks for sharing it.

One of these It has to be one of my favourite LEGO parts. The middle section of the bar fits to the clip on the underside of the scooter (it is used for the bucket handle "kickstand") The bley block of three layered plates in the middle of the "engine" is two of these stacked (of course, the bars face different directions). It also allowed me to use the modified lightsaber hilts and other clip elements for detailing. I made great use of the 1x1 round plates with hollow studs too. I am playing about with making the "engine" in Studio, this one was actually transplanted from a WIP that used the red scooter. I just swapped the transparent elements from red to purple and added a Minifig binocular element to slot the "nozzle" elements in to add more detail and frame the bucket.

Ninjago Legacy Contest

We have awesome prizes You can build! I have some more surprises for the coming weeks... -
They are based in Germany. Not only is there a superb pick a brick at the Legoland, but "animals" are available there to purchase. There is also a discount tent, another source of sets and parts. Also, the "era" of the sets, LEGO sets were "dumped" on some markets, low prices and surplus of sets available, or even available in discount chains at a steal of a price. I managed to get a fair amount of Knights Kingdom at rock bottom prices back then. So yes, it is legit. Dino Attack is also Dino 2010, so there might have been a wider release of sets with that dinosaur. I think my brother got one in a supermarket here in the UK.

If you can frame it as a Legacy set, I don't see why not. -

Hello! I think only staff can do that (something I figured out last time someone had this issue) can you link me the post you made with the attachment? -
I love the stripes you built in with the two bleys, it is a feature I like when I see actual new build structures. Bravo on a brilliant build!

O we had fun There is no photographic evidence of our epic run on the Fire Race game as we were busy being awesome. We were awesome and I think we managed to prove that the cab was working correctly. I miss the food, and the beer. Of course I miss all of you who were at the event too! -

The Goodbury Pippin is the latest in personal transportation. Cheap to run on Purpower turbines; efficient energy with managable power! The Pippin is rated for city and country use with a maximum loft of 40 meters, it is a practical transport solution for the whole family. An adjustable rack at the back allows or cargo or a passenger. The friendly finish looks at home wherever you go. . You meet the nicest people on a Pippin! This is my LSB Contest 2019 entry. I wanted to make something different to a racer, a daily driver was the plan. Also, I had in mind to use the scooter element in a speederbike. A little pedestrian considering the brick separator and wheelbarrow speeders but I had the Honda Cub stuck on my brain. This advert was the influence on the aesthetic (as I have recently re-watched James May's Cars of the People). Any comments, critiques questions? All are welcome

Fake Lego toymaker taken down in China
Peppermint_M replied to doug72's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Lepin were the worst offenders, it is no surprise that they were smashed (somewhat literally). I wonder if this will mean Enlighten will clean up their act? Unlike the bad old days, they do produce their own unique designs for themes and sets for a few product lines. However t is undeniable that some of "their" sets are direct copies of past LEGO releases. Though Enlighten do tread carefully with the branding of boxes etc. Time will tell I suppose. -
Hmmmm.... I love the design on the front, but personally I would put a little more of the transparent medium blue into it? It adds a nice ice looking effect, even if it was two cheese slopes positioned at alternate angles on the rocky wedge, or making the wedge that shade. Maybe swapping the blue for a lighter or silver shade? But then, I do love the ice look they give, so it is all just an opinion.
