What would you like from a Sci-Fi Racing theme?
Peppermint_M replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Cosmic Motors by Daniel Simon is my touchstone for SF racing. It makes things a little more ground based for racing. I also love this TV ad I suppose it is not as SPACESHIIP! as most would think of for an SF racing theme. However, near-future fantasy motorsport in fantastic environments is a concept I enjoy exploring. It adds the extra design challenges of integrating wheels into some colourful SF builds, considering how they could need suspension and steering or just look super cool. Cartoons like Hotwheels Acceleracers, with the "realms" of unique challenges and tricked-out cars or the gravity and reality defying action in the Speed Racer movie. The anime Redline is also an excellent example. Wipeout and F-Zero are cool concepts too, for the flying kinds of racer. Those would match up with your flying-wing suggestion. -
Help with identifying parts/sets!
Peppermint_M replied to WhiteFang's topic in General LEGO Discussion
No clue. Some used cylinder parts, others used dish parts. This official set has a drum kit. -
Help with identifying parts/sets!
Peppermint_M replied to WhiteFang's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Which set are these in? I had a quick look for Lego drum sets and can only find MOCs. -
It is nice to see people making an in depth post and sharing it. While I may disagree with some of the opinions, it was fun to read. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not sure on that. They might get badgered by members and trolls? Sad to say, that is the case on the internet.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars RPG - Game Development
Peppermint_M replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
I would have a bash at some more hero questing! One thing I was pondering once, while sorting parts: This part from Juniors always sparks desire to create a roleplaying dungeon. Each part is wonderful. -
There are other architectural embellishments out there. Statues, stone features in interesting shapes (Like shields etc) or even unusual patterns of tiling or an old sign/symbol related to the historic use of the building. When I am sketching out a modular (forever planning, never committing to one idea) I want to think of a history for the building. From when it was built up to the era it is present in for the MOC. That way, I can make the fabric reflect that. That, or go out into a city/town that has been around a few centuries and take a look at the buildings. Edwardian, Victorian and buildings from the 1910's and 20's have visible features even if there is a lot of modern junk plastered on.

Ninjago Legacy Contest
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Midnight Friday. So between the 31st and 1st. Heck, I close the thread on the morning of Saturday, so some can squeak in. -
Gameloft are determined to get my money. Pepper Roni and The Infomaniac had better be there! Also I am hoping for Johnny Thunder, of course. Ogel and the Alpha Team would be great fun too. I am terribly bad at tactical games though. Hey.

Superb mecha there. I love the many amazing creations you have been sharing here. Keep up the great work!

I am taking my regular spot at Newport Leisure Center for Geek Fest, tomorrow and Sunday. Come say hi and see some brand new MOCs.

LEGO set itself up for inconsistent minifigure quality.
Peppermint_M replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So by quality, you do not mean problems with the plastic, but with appearance of a figure and how much it matches the source material? I suppose this mostly matters if you are collecting the figures like any other bit of Pop Culture Detritus (from Pop Vinyl to Kotobukiya) kids are happy to see the characters they love and getting fun parts to play with. There are people who mourn the loss of the simplistic classic smiling face, there are those who "customise" a figure into some lumpy over-detailed mess. The current trend of turning known properties and characters into minifigures has created a demand for greater detail and closer matches to the source material. So, we face more printing and even more molds for parts. It costs money for the business to make the figures look "exactly" like they "should" Here is 2003 Luke on Degobah Here we have 2018 Luke on Degobah Same character, same place. Massive differences. Because people want minifigures to look like real people... I guess that it is all a matter of opinion. -
Loving the inclusion of Clutch Powers. The designers love to mine the lore of LEGO and I really appreciate that.

Themes LEGO should discontinue
Peppermint_M replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The Kreo sets had some nice parts: A mandolin, trumpet and drums. I was a little tempted to get the set for them. If LEGO decided to make similar, as music is integral to the Trolls whole "thing" (I happen to like Anna Kendrick's vocals... so I listened to the sound-track....) so I am hopeful for more LEGO instruments. So, I like new themes and new things that provide me new parts to play with. I don't want stuff to be ended for no reason. -

Themes LEGO should discontinue
Peppermint_M replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Eh, trolls will provide me with colourful hair for my minifigs. It might even provide more musical instruments for miniigures as the focus is music. -

Ninjago Polybag Contest
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nya's symbol is given out to people who helped out with Action and Adventure themes, not as a contest prize. Also, when we made the tags, there was no such thing as the ninja of water. It needs to resemble the original and cannot be significantly larger or smaller. I am not requiring exact part count matching, but reasonably similar.
