  1. The "Exact Dimensions" Of a plastic bag in a LEGO Box would be the length and height /width of the bag when it was produced and packed, then factory sealed. Unprinted LEGO bags will be simple clear plastic bags, someone could easily cut a sealed end off a bag and use a heat sealing tool to reseal the bag so that it looks never opened. As you do not know what length and width the factory sealed bag had, there isn't a clue this might have happened unless you find yourself short of parts once you open the set. It is not common on sites like Bricklink, as most sellers are fans of LEGO and not trying to scam you. Ebay and Facebook are riskier, simply because people can and do scam, but that is a risk for all goods and not just LEGO (People getting a with a rock in and not an X-box, etc). Also, there are sometimes problems with returned sets in big supermarkets; of people takign parts and returning sets with resealed bags. It is possible, just like any reasonable problem could be possible. Like I said, most sellers on Bricklink are not out to rip people off.
  2. Compostable plastic, or other bio-plastics would be a great replacement for the current bags used. I hate that any set has at least two plastic bags I can't recycle! More cardboard cartons would be a much better solution to the plastic "problem". I work in a company that (in vague terms) is a delivery company, we of course have products delivered to the warehouse that we then send onwards, some of these come in interestingly sealed cardboard packets. I will try and get a photo. Now that presentation in boxes with windows, like this, is no longer something TLG use, you would think they could put boxes with smaller boxes inside. Cardboard is very widely recycled after all.
  3. To be fair, the dynamite pieces were used in the context of rock blasting or safe cracking when they were introduced. I like explosions, but the kinds that are fireworks and rock blasting or planned demolitions. I would not agree to having them used in a context to maim and kill, that is not good or enjoyable. Fantasy, fictional, pretend "battle" between what can be interpreted or presented as an abstract "non-human" enemy is much more palatable than modern warfare and violence. There has not even been any kind of theme based on conflicts from the past 200 years, bar the Pirates and the Red/Blue coat navy and a very old Western Fort. Club, it is a club. The Caricature of a Cave Man gives him a big wooden club to scare off Saber Tigers and Dinosaurs. Of course, a fantastical thing as Cavemen would not be around Dinosaurs at all really. As for the Warfare/Violence thing; That looks clunky phrased by the press officer from LEGO. Fantasy Violence against non-human or in fantastical situations are fine. Modern, reality grounded war, terrorism and crime are not present in LEGO. The City police do not pack heat, they do not have a SWAT unit. The robbers do not carry firearms, there is not "Suspicious package" in LEGO City set. Sure, the spooky ghost bikers have spooky ghost pistols, but no one stands any chance of being menaced by a ghost biker, that is fantasy. Oh, and the censor thing? It is in place to prevent foul language. This is an English Language forum and we want to keep things civil and at least trying to be polite, so that sort of language is auto-removed. Megablocks was an amusing substitution when the forum was founded over a decade ago. If it is really a problem, feel free to bring up the subject in the Forum Information section.
  4. A lot of companies have done this with their old product. They either outright cut them out or frame them as something from a time/attitude that is less enlightened (See, any product with really badly racist connotations) No, but you are a private person using a selling platform by a merchant to sell on the items you own. LEGO are a licensee, they will be making some money from bricklink and they will be making the money on IP, IP holders will want to renegotiate the terms.
  5. That is exactly my point. If they are capable of wringing twice the fee from you, they will. There was a very big problem with re-sale of event tickets (like music concerts etc) in that events would sell out on the ticket provider and then resellers would inflate the price selling them on. Selling them on using sites that belonged to the ticket companies; companies who would take a nice slice of profit from the resale of tickets they had already sold! It took Government intervention for measures to be put in place to prevent the worst of it. Indeed. They are already admitting that they will need to remove products that do not match their corporate image. Which probably means anyone selling MOCs of modern war situations or anything from the World Wars will be removed from Bricklink. Also, might prevent store names that references war, armies or soldiers and possibly even Gun (After all, the pew-pews LEGO makes are Blasters, not guns!). It is quite the quagmire of unconsidered problems.
  6. The foreseeable issue that concerns me is how TLG will have to do as requested by IP holders. Say the BigMouse decided that now TLG own Brick link, they should get a cut of profits on their IP products? With eBay buying PayPal it was the case of a marketplace obtaining and preserving a successful and popular method of facilitating payments. TLG are a producer of products, products they distribute. IP products they pay a licence fee for. A fee that is reflected in the prices for those IP products, so both TLG and the IP holder make money. Now, they own a marketplace and will have oversight and control of it. Licensed figures and retired sets make money for resellers above the original product cost. By owning the marketplace, LEGO will make some money off this resale, money the IP holders will feel entitled to as it is their IP making further profit above the initial license fee. And let's be real here, the BigMouse has gone after tiny daycare centres with cease and desist orders for having characters painted on the wall. A secondary marketplace that is now property of their licensees is a juicy prospect.
  7. I will merge this thread with the main discussion.
  8. The announcement was yesterday, so TLG probably only just finished the process for acquiring the business. Any changes will start in the coming months, with possibly immediate removal on any Brickarms (etc) product and move on according to policy requirements.
  9. Yep, and there were games that featured the characters, from LEGO Racers and LEGO Island to LEGO Football and LEGO Chess. Not to mention the Alpha Team and Rock Raiders Tie-in titles. Going backwards, Fabuland had story books and jigsaws. I would say that tie-in products have been around a long time, it is just the format that has changed!
  10. This is terrible news. Nothing good can come of a monopoly on brick sources. I can see clamp downs on custom parts, printing/chroming and possibly resale of parts that are not "supposed" to be on the market (however people get hold of them to sell on, TLG would not like Q parts and test pieces being sold on). Then you come to the next issue: People have been banned from using the LEGO Shop.com and while it may be internet hearsay and finger pointing; the banning of purchases from S@H has been linked to those who print custom designs and also re-sellers. AKA- People who buy a torso or leg elements in big batches have been prevented from buying from B&P or S@H (possibly, like I said, internet rumour) and now if Bricklink is shut off from them then the community suffers. Time to check my wanted lists and maybe buy a little before any crazy corporate changes are forced in.
  11. Try some film over the window(s): https://activewindowfilms.co.uk/122-museum-clear-uv-ultra-violet-995-anti-fading-uv-protection-window-film-clear-heat-rejection-sticky-back-film.html This stuff is really great, it lets the light in, but not the harmful rays that cause damage.
  12. Considering I wrote the above rules for the forum, helping revise them from outright exclusion and endless debate over what a Bootleg was over what a Clone was, I think I am qualified to answer any question you have? This is first and foremost a LEGO fan forum, so for the main part the discussion is LEGO products. There is an allowance for comparisons, or to even be interested in, competitor brands. The issue with the actual rip-offs like Lepin was the risk of us becoming a platform to advertise. That could cause actual legal issues for the forum that we can't exactly afford.
  13. There is a section of Eurobricks that is "Community" that is for all the talk about things that are not LEGO, from movies and books to other hobbies. The competitor brand products discussion, where it is focused on things that are not LEGO products, such as Mega or COBI etc have always been sent to this section of the forum. Members as a whole do not want to have chatter about bricks produced by other companies in their main forums. There is a certain dedication to LEGO that a lot of people have. Yes, I first saw them in the Science Museum in London and they have slowly started to appear in mainstream locations like supermarkets and big retailers. TKMax and The Range are two UK places I have seen them, also I think I spotted some in the larger Tesco supermarkets (but I may be mistaken). From the box pictures, they look very good, however I don't have a memory for Technic Parts quite the same as my System mental catalog, so I can't say how much they match.
  14. Hey! I am Queen of the Clone Brands! That'll be Get off this forum Your Highness. My question is: Would you users like this thread to remain in this part of the forum, or should I put it in community where the usual Not-LEGO talk goes?
  15. You also have the Mechanics Lab sets: https://www.clementoni.com/en/mechanicslaboratory/ I have seen these starting to arrive in a few different stores in time for the Christmas Shopping. I'm not a real technic head, so I haven't got any to look at.
  16. I merged your two threads.
  17. Glad I could help! Flickr changes often, but I found that using the All Sizes page, it always worked!
  18. Yes, it got frustrating for many that anyone who saw a set that wasn't Creator Expert of USC and would bleat on about it being "juniorised". The forum has been running for a long time now, so some fads and phases of argument were left behind but still rear their strawman heads when we hope it is forgotten. The filter forces a more objective and well made argument
  19. Hello Did you take the photo link from the "All Sizes" page? The live photostream link will not post into the forum properly. If you use the "Download" button on the image and select "All sizes", then choose the photo size you want; copy the location and you can paste it directly into the forum.
  20. Impressive collection of power shields. This story of yours has been very fun to read. Do you have a plan for any future adventures? As an aside, I love the concept of the hero frozen in stone (used it in a few of my old fics, lost to the ages on fiction sites) and it would be great to see a future revival for Clay.
  21. So here is a question for everyone: Do you want more little building contests and raffles with tags as prizes? I know some are not interested in profile tags and want real prizes, but the logistics take time that I sometimes don't have. Also, with a digital prize, digital entries are welcome. There are a lot of tags here in Action and Adventures that I would love to award.
  22. Sorry that took a few days, I have been pretty ill. Hope you enjoy these tags. Everyone else who likes 'em: I am planning a few more fun contests with tags as prizes.
  23. Yes, there are some excellent entries. Would you like to post them as their own MOCs? That would be great for showing more cool builds.
  24. Why thanks (I hope ) I wanted to make it a little interesting. Anywho, Using Random.org and their generator I have picked out the top 4 names on the list: @VonPysPys, @reddx, @Zoshi and @JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) Which would you like? or ?
  25. Alrighty! I will feed all the usernames into a random picker today after I am finished at work.
