  1. Well considering all of those have a much bigger basis in Old Norse and areas of dark forested Germanic pre-christian tradition or Victorian canonised fictions in relation to the winter period. Also plenty adopted from the pagan winter traditions of Celtic and Gaelic areas (There may be a bit of the old Saxon tradition, but most of my reading was more into my Welsh roots and the mythology of Nordic areas. Then onto Germanic traditions due to my interest in the stories the Grimms collected). I do not see why it is any sort of religious bias as there is absolutely no iconography. The fact that the important festivals of other groups are still deeply rooted in religious observance instead of hijacked into commercialised advertising campaigns is probably why it can't be scraped together into a claim that LEGO represents them. The winter village sets, when looked at objectively, are simply a European village in winter, sure one set had overt tones of celebration but the rest are slightly more complex town builds with a white roof for snow and a few cold weather activities. So, please cool you jets and calm down a little.
  2. Well, two is fine, it means you can build the best figure from what you get. Also, Guy and Power Girl? Cool. Still waiting on a few Golden age characters though (Sandman, Dr. Midnight, Wildcat) and a better Dr. Fate for sure.
  3. Now those are cool, Going to get Booster and Parallax when they are around. In other news: My TRON style Future Police purchase arrived. As is always the risk... Un-printed face! But, seeing as I bought it for the torso/arm/leg prints and those are wonderfully crisp and detailed it is not too big a deal. In fact, I now have a fleshtone head without a mark, so I can make a Slenderman, which is neat. EDIT: Oh hey, there are Overwatch figures out there too. Aces!
  4. I choose the parts I want specifically by tracking them through set inventories. If I have no choice but to buy a part to finish a MOC, I know what I need as I am either lacking the quantity or colour of said parts. So I go through a set inventory to a seller for the part and maybe fill to minimum sale or to make the purchase worth the postage by adding from my wishlists or browsing things I like (Printed tiles, minifigure parts and accessories etc). Of course, I have quite a memory for parts and a 25 year strong collection, so plenty of reference for me to go by.
  5. Ah yes, crystals. I love those as a collection theme, they look so good in treasure troves or as decor.
  6. I am looking at a store called Dolls Fans Tech Co Ltd, they have capes and other accessories as 20pc choice packs and I am getting increasingly tempted.
  7. Can people avoid being abusive for a start and leave it for Moderators to deal with? Second, @LEGODalekbuster523, everyone appreciates you enjoy Doctor Who rather a lot but maybe a little more reasoning and explanation to the post would make it a contribution instead of something looking a little spammy? -- So, who else ignores critics and heads off to see a film to decide for themselves? I watch a film and if I enjoy it.
  8. Alrighty then, we're not finished visiting Elvendale! Discuss 41190: Emily Jones' Eagle Escape 41191: 41192: Axari and the Capture of the Pound Lion 41193: Aira and the Wind Song Dragon 41194: Noctura Tower and the Rescue of the Earth Fox
  9. Ah, it is so Beyblade! Also, stealing the Lair, Inferno can set up shop quite happily.
  10. Okay, working on the UK RRP of £649.99 - £84.99 60161 Jungle Exploration Site £64.99 60132 Service Station £34.99 60134 Fun at the Beach £39.99 41187 Rosalyn's Healing Hideout £44.99 70351 Clay's Falcon Fighter £64.99 41317 Sunshine Catamaran £24.99 41311 Heartlake Pizzeria £74.99 70627 Dragon's Forge £159.99 10257 Carousel £34.99 8293 Power Functions Motor Set £19.99 10702 Creative Building Set Leaving 10p at the end. Rosalyn's Healing Hideout and Sunshine Catamaran are the sets my sister would love to have, so I would get those for sure (about £650 to spend , I would certainly get them for her). The Carousel would be for my Mum with the motor set to complement it, so it can run on its own. The rest is mostly for me , but I think the Pizzeria will end up being built by Mum and my brother would want a go at the Dragon's forge. I decided to go with current sets as I am making a wish-list too. Sales and deals in local supermarkets make most of the lower pricepoint sets (Sub £60 sets) potentially a great deal cheaper, so sets that I might not consider paying the £24.99 price would come home with me for the (usual) discounts down to £15 and under. I am making a wishlist to think of using VIP points on, maybe treating myself to or "saving" towards (aka, leave the discounted sets I am not super interested in and put the money aside to get the larger set.). Honestly, this has been an interesting exercise for. It is a rather good thread.
  11. There is also a possibility that sellers might start doing actual Lantern Corps figures, or a set of lanterns and rings.
  12. I think that the violet/star sapphire bat is supposed to be Batgirl, just a suspicion. I think I have a need for the Darkest Knight.
  13. Well my uncle works at LEGO and Nintendo Looking forward to more green and black sets myself. The corrupted virus idea puts out a hope for "TRON lines" on things and what if the knights have to go into the Network (or The Grid!!) to fight the virus. (tl:dr - I want stuff with TRON lines on)
  14. Slick, great use of the window panels as information disks, the whole thing is very crisp and cool.

  16. Those sort of challenges are really fun, we have similar sorts at the Eurobricks Event and everyone has a great time. I think the only difference is there is more beer involved at an EB event... A lot of my family (and colleagues and friends of the family) have been asking if I watch and have been really positive about it. Heck, my more annoying siblings have been interested in the programme and amazed at the builds. (Though now I should apparently build a pirate theme-park. Cheers ). Was there any hints at a further contest? All told I wouldn't mind taking a stab at it.
  17. Oh that is so cool. I need that figure.
  18. I have some parts of the MMV built, the agents command truck is still together and so are my speed racer cars. As for MOCs? I have some that are a couple of years old now. I like them and have not needed the parts. Though they may end up culled this sorting round.
  19. I'm most jealous that you got to meet Bill Bailey! It was too bad you didn't get through. I liked the builds and the challenges this time around. In fact I had a go at 15 piece builds while I watched.
  20. Cool! Now I just need to decide on a sensible number of figures to buy... I can't quite manage emperor worthy numbers.
  21. So perfect! Yes, I want those sort of things, TLG has not really made much related to Chinese culture and I want those for a MOC. I'm hoping the price is good, so I can have a few.
  22. Problem is, anything too recognisably alike to another franchise or property is great for concept creation but can't see release because of IP law. Features inspired by other media already toe a line (Look at the reaction regarding Thundercats/Chima). Some of those designs are just too cool though!
  23. I have ordered a small set, the one that looks most like a lightcycle with the blue haired character.
  24. I think it is more a case of your tastes that are not running towards current trends. I always find it a little odd though, that people are so dependent on the sets to perpetuate the hobby. In terms of colour variety and parts available we are absolutely rich in choice. Friends, Elves and Super Hero Girls have provided a fresh bright selection of colours for the basic parts. City Explorers is a fab new sub-theme with a great pile of wildlife to add to the LEGO menagerie and Classic is great for parts now. The creative boxes in four colours boost your parts count cheaply. Sure, I think the Brickheadz are stupid. Just really really stupid. (Waiting for clearance so I can get my hands on all those lovely SNOT bricks) Star Wars and Superheroes are slaves to canon. But still, LEGO sets are turning up that I want to build before I part out. With parts to play with and colours to use, LEGO can last me forever.
  25. This is amusing. And, the TRON we needed but never got:
