Ghostbusters (Reboot) 2016 sets rumors and discussion
LegoFjotten replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Wow... that was rather disappointing... I thought it would be a proper set with some more figures. -
I think the "regular" distribution should have 2x9 and 2x6 as spares instead of 3x9 / 1x6. Are you 100% sure you didn't read a torso upside down when you identified them? If not it's probably a mistake from LEGO.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
LegoFjotten replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
It was at ToysRUs in Norway. It's not listed online so best guess is that it was old stock in that particular store. Prices are a bit higher here, so in USD they were about $37. -

I think the set looks great! So happy it's a location based set and not something like some made up Dr. Strange mech or copter... On another note, I was somewhat surprised to find a stack of Ant-Man sets at a local shop, thought they were long gone! -
Thanks! I will be going to Germany in a couple of weeks, will still check the stores I come across even if chances are slim I will find any figures.

For the German EB members: Are the figures still available in some stores in Germany or are they sold out everywhere?

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
LegoFjotten replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nope, so far I'm not really interested in these sets. That might change when I see the movie though. I like some of the figs (especially the blue pilot and the new droid), but what I really want are some regular OT Stormtroopers instead of lots of new trooper variants. -
Thanks for the review Bob! This set was doomed from the start for us AFOLs I think. If they had left out the UCS branding and selected a more fitting name for the set it would have been just a regular & expensive Star Wars set (albeit a big one). Now it is everyones favourite chopping block...

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
LegoFjotten replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I usually try to avoid complaining about prices, but the Tie vs A-Wing price... that is just not right. In Norway the price is 1099 NOK, which is about $132 / €118. Compare that to the new Spiderman Bridge Battle set which is the same price in Norway: 702 pieces / 4 minifigs vs 1092 pieces / 7 minifigs. What is going on here? This makes no sense at all. This might be the wave that turns me from someone who usually buys a large portion of the sets into someone that only Bricklinks a few figures of interest. -

Oops sorry Lobot. Edit: I'll keep my mind shut about pricing / availability. -
Do people actually use bicklink mocshop?
LegoFjotten replied to Wardancer's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Not necessarily, maybe they made it because they thought it would generate sales (I have no idea if it does or not). Now that they have it, it probably does not cost them much to keep it going. As for the questions: 1. No 2. Probably not 3. N/A Personally I don't see much of a market for this kind of shop; For it to be attractive for sellers you would need a price level that is higher than what potential customers are willing to spend (IMO). -
The head is from Harry Potter / Madame Hooch, the hat is from Lone Ranger / Red Harrington

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
LegoFjotten replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Figure looks nice, another print for that helmet is always welcome. Must admit that I'm not too excited though, but will certainly pick it up if I get the chance. -
Here is another one I did over the weekend, thought I'd just give you all a small break before posting it. Full resolution on Flickr

It is actually very simple, the trick is just that only 2 of the spokes are actually connected, the rest are just positioned to point toward the center of the wheel. There are 4 1x1 brick with studs on two sides holding the round plates together, two of which are facing "out" with spokes connected, and the other two are pointing "in". Did that make any sense?

Now that is a first rate promo! I regret passing on the Classic Pirate promo now that they are making more (or is this the last?). I wouldn't mind if they circle around and give us the same themes again with different figs, for example: Futuron or Blacktron, an actual classic looking pirate, Black Falcon.

Just when you though you were rid of my Steampunk builds, here is another... High resolution picture on Flickr

Looks great as expected! There is a chance the build will be a bit repetitive though... oh well, I'll probably get it anyway.
-
Can anyone make out how the spires are made? Edit: I see it now, the ski pole. Nice part to get in gold.

I had one more Steampunk build in me, this time a high wheeler aka penny-farthing Full size on Flickr: https://www.flickr.c.../100114564@N06/

To add to that, not all molds are created to last as long as possible. If they think a part is for a limited run only (say for example some specific Chima part), they may have a cheaper mold created that will serve it's duty and then be retired. They also have molds where they can swap out insets with the actual part shape to produce different parts, but naturally that does not work for all kinds of parts. Creating the actual mold is only one step of designing a new part. I'm sure they have the details on file to order a new mold for a specific part quite easily (for the newer parts that is).

Turns out I enjoyed dabbling with some Steampunk stuff, here is another small build. Would have liked to give the photo a bit more room to breathe, but my paper background was too small. Full size on Flickr: https://www.flickr.c.../100114564@N06/

Thank you for all your comments, much appreciated! I might have a go at few more steampunk builds.

Updated Spidey, that is cool! Certainly gonna get this set (mainly for Spidey), but Hawkeye & Vision looks good to. Build is rather bland, but as an add on to the Airport Battle it works well enough.
