  1. Also, I must make a comment about that Balrog set... 291 pieces and ONE minifigure for $40? I kept hoping for some more Moria orcs (possibly armored) in a set like that, but I fear we might never see actual, armored Moria orcs with those spiky helmets of theirs if this is true... shame. However, why does he only know about 3 sets instead of the actual list? People thought they saw Treebeard and the Tower of Orthanc in this designer room picture from a while back, so those could be true, but the Balrog as a 291 pcs set for $40 and one figure we would've seen dozens of times before by the time we have the Hobbit sets? Meh...
  2. I'll try to predict the full list... I tried to have sets with the same price ranges as the first LOTR wave, with one extra set. The Betrayal of Isengard - $100 The Black Gate - $80 Treebeard Encounter - $60 Bridge of Khazad-Dûm - $40 The Battle of Osgiliath - $40 The Witch-King Attacks - $30 Amon-hen Skirmish - $20 Battle Against The Wargs - $10 Let me know what you think of the list. Minas Tirith seems unlikely with Isengard as the largest set this wave, so I hope we'll get to see that later on still... we need figures of Gandalf the White and Denethor - Gothmog would be nice to have, too. I wonder if we'll get any more LOTR sets in 2014, otherwise I fear that there might be some potential stuff that won't see the light... Very curious about the rest of the list - I hope part of my predictions are true but there could be better options for some other sets, just tried to use likely-for-release sets. Also, at least we know there will be one new orc, which is Grishnakh in the Treebeard Encounter set. Now, I really hope that the 5 orcs in the Isengard set won't be duplicates... it would be great to have some properly varied figures, really.
  3. These all look fantastic, but I must ask, what kind of Paint do you use and how do you use it? I know skill is a large part of this, but my lines when painting always end up being a bit thick and "fading", in a way. I'd like to improve on that so I'd like to know what you use. Either way, looks great, I wish the official Legolas was like this. I thought it was a great figure but it just pales in comparison to yours...
  4. Friends is pretty terrible, but comparing it with LOTR? You're joking, right? But yeah, they're still two completely different themes...
  5. To be honest, this story arc doesn't seem interesting to me in the slightest. 4 entire episodes about the creation of lightsabers...? Meh...
  6. Ah, these sound pretty good so far. We knew that the Tower of Orthanc was coming already, though I wonder if we're getting the same "clone" orcs again... I sure hope not, since they were all so different. I'd like to see some new skin colors, clothing, etc. on them. We might see this guy if they decide to have any varied looks on Mordor orcs:
  7. A second look at these figures and they're already screaming "buy us... buy us..." to me. Should all fit in rather nicely with my Insectoid General MOC from last month, but now I'd like to have a few Twitch figures as well. It's a shame they're fairly expensive on BL, so here's just me hoping that there won't just one kind of Insectoid, these look really cool.
  8. Those Insectoids are great, pretty much like what I hoped they would be. And now I'm wondering about the rest... "What is this newest threat?? Get ready to defend the universe from extraterrestrial pests with Galaxy Squad!"
  9. He also said there would be no seventh, eighth and ninth Star Wars movies... aaand there goes.
  10. Not at all. I actually liked the news when I heard about it for the first time. One of the bad parts about this, however, is that we'll now have thousands if not millions of fanboys screaming about how "horrible it is"... You guys started hating Lucas after the Prequels, now he hands over the franchise to someone else and it's still the end of the world? Why would they have to? The PT didn't have the feel of the OT either, and I can honestly say I would like to see remakes of the first 6 films somewhere in the future. Now before you guys are gonna sweep me onto the gallows or throw me into the Sarlacc Pit, face it, there are lots of improvements to be made for both the OT and the PT, but especially the PT, and now those opportunities have opened themselves up. Some stuff just should've been differently, the Ewoks for example. Get rid of 'em, replace them with a non-kiddy kind of alien species on a planet with plenty of advanced technology - however, the technology wasn't advanced enough, nor was anything else they had in possession to stop the Empire from turning the inhabitants into slaves. The shield generator of the second Death Star is now hidden securely, inside a heavily guarded bunker, not as vulnerable like the one we've already seen. But not all inhabitants decided to follow their kind - many decided to start a rebellion against the Empire and its slavery. When the Rebel Alliance 'gang' reaches the planet, they are captured by these aliens, thought to be Imperial spies, and brought to the leader of their organization. There, the rebels as we know them reveal themselves to be rebels themselves, and so a plan unfolds and they start to co-operate to destroy the Empire once and for all. Just an idea I whipped up which might work better than those Ewoks on their primitive planet, if they ever decide to make a remake with some large changes. Instead of constant add-ons to the franchise, perhaps a modern remake could be made in the future, with recurring actors and no continuity errors. The gap between the OT and the PT was simply too large if you look at it from a certain point of view. I suppose most of you are gonna try to kill me for this, but before you do, just let me finish my ice cream...
  11. Here are some of my own, custom Rohirrim soldiers, including one with a chainmail hood on top, which I made a few months ago: I found that there are plenty of torsos and legs to use for custom Rohirrim figures. I've been meaning to get loads more official Rohirrim soldiers (along with Uruks 'n all) and paint several of the helmets. Éomer's torso and the Rohan soldier's torso backwards might work as well.
  12. I'm not gonna complain until I've seen it. You never know, it might turn out to be fantastic but at the same time it could turn out to be complete garbage. I have to say that I just hate those continuity errors, though... by that, I mean, completely different actors all around.
  13. New LEGO LOTR trailer on the Facebook page of "LEGO The Lord of the Rings"! http://www.facebook.com/LEGOTheLordoftheRingsVideogame?ref=stream
  14. Hooray! This should help against the dark age that was trying to pull me down for now. Glad to hear the theme will continue - now onto getting all the current sets.. Weathertop and the Hobbit ones. By the way, was there ever a Hobbit figure given away at NYCC or was this a false rumor?
  15. Battle Mech? If it's real, then it surely sounds interesting... Hoping for some useful Sci-Fi stuff.
  16. Thanks guys! An army of these? Well, a few more generals perhaps, but if the official (upcoming) Insectoids won't fit in with this kind of species, I'm gonna have to create smaller versions of these. Now that's where an army would come in...
  17. Wasn't the open world like, really big? If it has all the locations from Middle-Earth in it then it'd surely have to be huge... There should be a reason for no free-play in the demo as well, but don't ask me, I dunno. Played the demo and it was good, great cutscenes especially, although it was all rather short. I kinda wish Haldir got his own, proper death scene to see how LEGO would handle this stuff, but oh well, he's not important at all compared to Boromir.
  18. Does anybody know when the demo for this game will be released for PS3 or PC, or if it already is? Can't seem to find it anywhere, except for the 3DS which I don't happen to have..
  19. Yeah, I remember thinking about doing something like that to one of the buildings once, but I forgot that eventually. Thanks - yes, I have plans to make more of the city in the future. Once I have enough pieces for the river, I'll feature it in one of my future MOCs as well, but the next Osgiliath is supposed to become quite a bit smaller than this. More of the size of a bignette.
  20. If the artwork says so then we should get a Gollum figure with a new expression. They also said the Bilbo Baggins figure is exclusive to the Riddles For The Ring set, while we also see him in the Barrel Escape set... Different expression or another mistake, just like the wrong Gollum figure in the video?
  21. Thanks everyone! Nope, I'm afraid not - this one's finished. I tried to add a better roof to the tower, but what I tried with the now-limited parts (since most other useful pieces I had for that were used throughout the MOC) didn't look quite right, so I decided to keep it flat. However, I might do a future Osgiliath (though significantly smaller) and re-use this building with stairs (with some improvements even, hopefully) and have a proper roof along with it. Yep, that sword is custom made, just like the Eye of Sauron banner. Thanks again all. Now off to think of what to make next...
  22. Who says the Battle of Pelennor Fields can't be a pretty large level, featuring both the Battle of Minas Tirith, the Battle of Pelennor Fields itself and some bits with Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli versus the Corsairs of Umbar? Seems possible to me, since we've already seen Minas Tirith cutscenes, as well as a gameplay screenshot with a Gondorian soldier near some white walls (3DS).
  23. Hello all! Just wanted to share with you a diorama I've been working on, featuring the Battle of Osgiliath from The Lord of the Rings (ROTK). "Once the pride of Gondor, a shining city near the River of Anduin, now a battlefield overrun by the evil forces of Sauron. Gondorians and Ithilien Rangers are fighting for their lives as more and more orcs keep approaching from the East, but it all seems like a never-ending wave of evil sweeping itself over the outnumbered forces of the West..." ______________________________________________________________ Click the first picture for some more shots of this MOC in my Flickr photostream! Enjoy, C&C is welcome as always.
