LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
General Magma replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Legit? Not in the slightest, I think that's pretty clear. An Indiana Jones tent? No single new pieces? And not to mention that it's not interesting in the slightest? Tough chance they'd do a "birthday party" set - especially not if it had to be one like this.- 7,499 replies

Thanks! I haven't seen such trees and bushes anywhere else either; I looked at some screenshots from the film and I wanted to capture the feeling and looks of the trees as much as possible, and so I ended up using these. They'll probably show up in future MOCs again.

I'd like to present to you my newest creation, based on the scene from TTT where Faramir's Rangers of Ithilien ambush the forthcoming Men of Harad, as Frodo, Sam and Gollum are watching from a distance. (The latter three not included in the scene) "In order to protect the road from Minas Morgul to Osgiliath from possible attacks, Faramir has sent his Rangers of Ithilien to await the forthcoming Haradrim on the road to ambush them as soon as they are in sight. The fist group of Men of Harad is coming closer and closer, and as they approach the rangers, the first strike is received by the enemy..." __________________________________________________________________________________ This MOC can also be found on Flickr and MOCpages. Enjoy, C&C is welcome as always. It would also help me if you could tell me which of the versions of these pictures you like best, the one with a solid white background or the one with the map of Middle-Earth - this will help me pick a definite picture for Flickr.

As long as we'll still get to see the following figures: - Witch-king of Angmar - Gothmog - Grima Wormtongue - Éowyn - Galadriel - Gondorian soldier - Denethor - Faramir - Ithilien Ranger - Haradrim soldier And so there are several others, such as Merry and Pippin in armor, weary versions of Sam and Frodo, the bald Haradrim leader, old Bilbo, Gamling, Háma, etc...- 7,499 replies

Here's my newest creation, depicting the scene from ROTK where Frodo and Sam, disguised as orcs, are approached by a group of orcs and their linebreaker... "After Samwise Gamgee rescues Frodo from Cirith Ungol, they travel further into the land of Mordor, disguised as orcs. As they keep walking on and on, weary and tiresome, they find that up ahead a group of orcs is passing through, slowly moving towards them. As they keep calm and quiet, hoping not to be seen, they are approached by an orc linebreaker who sees them as little orcs and pulls them into the group to march among them..." ___________________________________________________________ You can find it on both Flickr and MOCpages, as well. C&C is welcome as always.

His outfit appeared as something closer to black multiple times, however. Black seems like a better overall color as well, but it might not even be the finished version that's shown in the 'figure box'. Last year, Lurtz was depicted as being armored on the figure box of Orc Forge, along with a new hairpiece... I'm afraid the Eagle won't get any better in the end, this is probably it. - Undersized, legs glued together... Why didn't they just give us an armored mountain troll?- 7,499 replies

Those are some nice shots, Plissken. Keep 'em coming! Always good to have more Middle-Earth photographers around. I should try my hand at some forest environment pics some time as well.

Also, the final version of the Mouth of Sauron's horse should look like this: But then in LEGO, of course - so hopefully they won't go cheap on this one and actually use a new barding and helmet for the horse, but I guess that's what we should expect from it.- 7,499 replies

Thanks! I might do more outdoor photography (without snow) of LEGO LOTR or The Hobbit later on. Here's an alternate angle of my most recent picture:

That Eagle... it disappoints me a bit. Why aren't the feet separate? Is this a mini version of the Great Eagles or something? They're supposed to be able to pick up people; Thorin Oakenshield, Frodo, Sam, etc... - other than that it looks pretty good, but that's one thing that would disappoint me quite a lot. Anways, I think we can confirm Gandalf's new hairpiece now. Are those just old helmets for the orcs with the same torso, legs, head, etc. as the ones the orcs from The Orc Forge had? More disappointment... Not quite sure about a new sword mold for Aragorn either now, to be honest.- 7,499 replies

No new posts? That's a shame. Sorry for the double post, then, here's another Caradhras shot of mine: The Fellowship of the Ring The Fellowship of the Ring travels over the Pass of Caradhras on their way to Mordor, but little do they know about the trouble that lies ahead... For a larger version of it, click on the picture itself.

None of that is new in the first place, except maybe the thought that the Palantir is a new piece, which has not even been proven as of now. TLG already has a piece that would be perfect to fill the role as Palantir - round with the ability to be held by a minifigure.- 7,499 replies

Nice shots, smokebelch. Keep 'em coming! Here's another one from me, depicting a scene from FOTR where Frodo can't keep up with the rest and falls down, quickly to be helped up by Aragorn. But Boromir may have other plans... Caradhras: The One Ring

Or 6-99. Might help out the TFOLs and AFOLs who kinda struggle in society because of their hobbies a bit. As for the Orthanc picture; not sure what to think of that. Doesn't seem real to me - I hope the exclusive reveal this weekend will be Orthanc.- 7,499 replies

In the SW 2013 topic, somebody just mentioned there was going to be a new exclusive LEGO set reveal this weekend. I think it's gonna be the Tower of Orthanc, but I'm not sure.- 7,499 replies

I think it could be the Tower of Orthanc from LOTR, actually. -
Welcome, fellow Dutchman. I recommend you to pay a visit to Flickr and, perhaps, make an account there as well. Lots of builders share their MOCs with others on there and there's lots of stuff to see. You might want to check out Derfel Cadarn's stuff as well for great techniques.

And not more than once will we see it. An Osgiliath set? Yes. A battlepack along with it? Not gonna happen. Osgiliath is not significant enough for multiple sets, and one set is enough to have it covered. The set itself could serve as much of a battlepack like Uruk army, though. Faramir, Gondorian soldier, Ranger of Ithilien and 2 orcs, perhaps Madril, along with a build like deskp's.- 7,499 replies

Yeah, the rumor might as well have meant nothing those pages back, not sure where it showed up first, but it was rumored as an exclusive set. I hope it's real, though, this wave severely lacks a Witch-king figure.- 7,499 replies

General Magma replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
If the rumored Witch-king set that's supposed to come out this March is real, there would be no need for another Fell Beast anywhere else. Just stick to an Osgiliath set with orcs, Faramir, Gondorians and an Ithilien ranger. (Hopefully we'll see Madril as well) - That way, we can still have a set with a Fell beast, the Witch-king, armored Merry and Éowyn, along with perhaps a wounded Théoden.- 7,499 replies

Which means that the sets could also start showing up around May, I suppose. Also, wasn't there a rumored Witch-king set? I hope we get to see pics soon, it was estimated for release in March. (If that wasn't the actual date)- 7,499 replies
