What Do YOU Hope for in the Upcoming Hobbit Sets?
General Magma replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I've got to add, I'd like to see a new facial expression for Gollum. I really hope they do another one, perhaps more neutral since the current one we have doesn't work for every scene. -
What Do YOU Hope for in the Upcoming Hobbit Sets?
General Magma replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Those sound like good ideas. I myself am hoping for 3 variations of Bilbo Baggins this wave: His regular clothing as seen in Bag End, his 'adventuring gear' with a dark red coat and the same as last only with a slightly damaged coat and spider webs for Mirkwood. Other than that, I'm hoping for even more quality figures and nice sets like LOTR had. -
Thanks all! Hoping to do some more shots soon, and to see more stuff from others as well.

Why am I foreseeing Obi-Wan cutting them off again? -
So there will be no Barliman Butterbur nor any Corsair pirate in the actual game...?

Good spot, but I hope it's just that it's similar. I'd like to see a new mold designed specifically for Fili, but that's probably unlikely... Although, with all those other new molds... His hairline at the top doesn't go like that:

Not sure if I understood correctly, but where did you get this from? Or did you mean all episodes will be airing at once (during one day) once the season is finished? -
He's also the green one from the Geonosian turret set.

Did anybody notice how Maul seems to have shrunk a little bit and how his legs look different now? Not sure about the former but the latter seems pretty obvious, he's even wearing shoes while he used to have claw feet. -
Hey everyone, I haven't seen a topic like this one around here yet, and since the LEGO Star Wars sub-forum has one, I figured; why not place one here now that I've started on LEGO photography again? This topic is intended for LEGO Lord of the Rings (anything Tolkien-related, really) photography, so any photography you've done involving LEGO LOTR is welcome here. I haven't seen that many people doing LEGO LOTR photography yet, but hey, this may yet be a point of motivation to get started for some, just like the way I started with LEGO photography after seeing the stuff from the SW folks. To start off, here are my own, first LEGO LOTR shots, all of which were done in the past few days: Uruk-hai Berserker The Uruk-hai Berserkers were the most powerful of Uruk-hai to ever come out of Saruman's pits underneath Isengard. They were larger and even more fearsome versions of the Uruk-hai, and carried large, two-pointed swords with them, ready to rip apart any enemy they crossed paths with. Based on this picture. Uruk-hai Berserker by General Magma, on Flickr The Three Hunters Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli, ready to hunt some orc... The Three Hunters by General Magma, on Flickr The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark "My name is Bilbo Baggins..." "Bagginses? What is a Bagginses, preciouss...?" Not entirely fond of this one, might re-do it in the future once the official Hobbit sets are out. Here's me wishing that Gollum was more pose-able, or at least had the ability to turn his head around... The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark by General Magma, on Flickr Gollum This one was mostly a lighting test, but I thought it wasn't bad, so here's the last one for now. Gollum by General Magma, on Flickr Enjoy these for now, and feel free to post your own or look around to see what there is so far! Hopefully we'll see more LEGO LOTR photography with this, soon.

I'm fairly sure he will have dark tan hair. Either way, I agree with the others who have said it: It seems pretty odd to me that there's nothing new regarding the sets today, with it being Hobbit Day 'n all. They said there would be more new reveals in the next months... that was 2 months ago. I'm a bit worried about the Kili figure as well. The micro version just has stubbles, and I know the actual character's "beard" resembles stubbles more than a beard, but it's still just more than stubbles... I hope he won't end up like another Indiana Jones or something.

Looks like we might see a mold for the Great Goblin then, somewhat bigger than a minifig, but smaller than the cave troll, for example. Though I do wonder what the creature we saw earlier could be, then... you know, the really ugly one with ears - it didn't look like the one in the trailer had ears. ...What's the point?

The next Hobbit trailer is up...

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
General Magma replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Ahsoka and/or Captain Rex, please. Ehh... well, does this mean that we'll see one of their deaths THIS season or during the season premiere, as it says "season premiere" top left corner? Anyways, I can see most of them being killed off eventually if not all, but I know for a fact that Adia Gallia will die during the Clone Wars. But considering Sidious's duel with the Zabrak duo... Savage or Maul both have a chance to fall at his hands as well. However, they also said it would be a "big season" for Ahsoka... and she's already being targeted for death now. I've been suspecting her death ever since I heard the "big season for her" thing more than ever before. -
Because, although there are large similarities, the differences are too big to blend them as one thing. The point is, 'Star Wars' remains 'Star Wars' - The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings both take place in Middle-Earth, with the same creatures, several characters that are similar or really just the same and exactly the same world (with exactly the same locations, whether they appear in either one of the trilogies or both) - the problem is, however, that the names are completely different. They can't market them under one name.

Eeth Koth never even died there to begin with... at least, I saw no body or any kind of confirmation. Not sure what stated his death but alright. Or am I wrong? -
Yup. I cannot see the sales being terrible in any way... They were in the top sellers list of the S@H site for a long time (if they aren't still now), and were said to be doing very well by the CEO himself. Very, very well, that is... at least, that's what he said. They can't give up on Gondor sets, those are very important aspects of the movies, and Saruman, Sauron, Faramir, Éowyn and the Witch-king are all figures that are being asked for a lot. No doubt the sets they'd be in would sell very well. I refuse to believe this is all we'll see of LOTR, and if it is, they must at least have some exclusives for it. But I just can't see it happening like that, Indiana Jones started out with a classic trilogy wave, then went on with the new movie, then went back to classic trilogy, etc... Just look at what we've had so far, the classic trilogy as the first wave - LOTR - and The Hobbit being next. As expected by many, the next LOTR wave would have to show up next summer. Who the heck thought there was enough content to fill up an entire second wave of Hobbit sets from the first film? The set list we've gotten earlier already shows most of the possible stuff for AUJ, if not all of it. And then to mention the rumors about the films ending as early as the Eagle escape part - the only replacement set I can see right now for Mirkwood spiders and Escape in Barrels would be a set with those trolls, but it would require 3 large, molded figures. Would be a pretty tricky one for LEGO, I think.
-
The SW theme was confirmed to run for at least another 10 years and was obviously doing very well, and we knew this. As for LOTR we hear mixed things... but I get the point.
-
If that were the case, I don't think they would've designed an entire Orthanc set... Either way, let's hope for the best. I want this line to continue for as long as possible.
-
Damn, I expected to have a few more years of LEGO LOTR. It can't be ending this soon already, can it? Even the CEO said the line was doing well... Wouldn't be happy with the lack of Gondor sets, especially, but I'd also like to see most other possible sets.
-
Something that confuses me a bit, though, is that the first film was said to end with the Eagles. However, that would mean that Mirkwood wouldn't be seen in the film, so let alone the Elves. Any chance this disproves that theory of it ending with the Eagles? The new scroll ended there, but it's still a bit vague to me. There doesn't seem to be lots of material to cover 3+ hours of film if they're just doing the things up to the point of the arrival of the Great Eagles...
-
I'm disappointed. New Wargs? So we're gonna have "LOTR Wargs" and "The Hobbit Wargs" as separated things after all? That's a shame. I'm not saying it looks bad, but it's a continuity error as I feared it might've been destined to become.

General Magma's LOTR Figures
General Magma replied to General Magma's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks guys! I think the next one will be Saruman, then. Éowyn and Galadriel would probably be like the ones we've already seen as video game characters, perhaps with some tweaks since it isn't always that video game characters will end up supplying the same design for the actual figures. Might as well restore the Elvish points on the Galadriel figure... Cheekbones, lower mouth... For smaller figures, I have yet to "shrink" the legs for a second template. Here's a list of figures I've been thinking of... perhaps you guys could put them in order from the figure you want to see most to the one you'd rather have after all others so I've got an idea of figs after this: (Can be a top 5 out of these as well, might be easier for me) 1. Saruman 2. Orc soldiers (Morannon) 3. Faramir 4. Éowyn (Battle Armor) 5. Frodo (Mt. Doom) and Samwise Gamgee (Mt. Doom) 6. Háma (or Gamling) 7. Rohan soldiers 8. Rohan Royal Guards 9. Witch-king of Angmar 10. Pippin (Gondorian Armor) -
LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
General Magma replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I've played the game, but some Sith just look similar and there are several Darths with unique looks. Regardless of anything, those Sith Warriors from the trailer would still have to have a place in Jedi Temple Invasion or Battle of Alderaan sets. There are many Sith Warriors that look different, I know this very well, but if the battle packs are based on the Battle of Alderaan, then that's the way to go if they were to include a Sith Warrior. I don't know how much TLG would care about the differences of the many Sith from the TOR game, and as much as I'd like to see them making many different ones for TOR like Sith Inquisitors, etc., I just can't see it happening that quickly (I hope TLG can prove me wrong about this), it just feels like they would rather have one or more generic versions. That masked Sith Warrior design would still be cool for a minifig however. -

Hundreds of these guys were swarming Alderaan during the battle from the SWTOR "Hope" trailer: These all looked the same. There are lots of non-unique Sith in the era of The Old Republic, though there are still unique ones alongside them, especially Darths. But still, many "generic" warriors. And they shouldn't use Malgus armor for these, I'm guessing he will probably appear in another set later on if they ever wish to expand on the SWTOR subtheme.
