  1. Yes, a well known issue that makes the complete PU useless in many cases. It is reported to LEGO long time ago since 3.6.0 Android at least See if the software Update next week makes a change.
  2. What are the costs? Cable included? Is it cheaper than a new RI-Motor (which has more options)? What Device IDs are used? The shop on the website is empty?
  3. The 45303 has no method to set it to specific angles or read them from it's position, that's why it was called "simple medium linear motor" Seems that it's not available any more.
  4. It's an LB1836, same as in PF V1 PF V2 had a DRV8833 No, at least the technic hub has a current limiting software, as fas as I know.
  5. yes, its really horrible with the LEGO naming of their componenets. I don't kown, but it disappeared in the shop some months ago......
  6. No, I meant 88005, but the PF work as well.
  7. yes, wth the train motor and the old lights that should be possible.
  8. Sure? What you mean is the "simple medium linear motor" 45303 (the old WeDo one, looking like a PF M-Motor), it has no tacho. The one you mentioned, the " Medium Linear Motor " is 88008 and is a tacho motor. And: the 45303: isn't available any more since a long time.
  9. You referred to LEGO statement about channels, and my explanation of channels has nothing to do with trains only.
  10. Absolutely not. No SmartDevice, only the remote. Yes. Pressing the green button on the hub. We're talking about the remote, no programming at all. It is described in the help topics on the LEGO Site how to connect and switch. And it's nothing new, it is designed that way since years. Exactly. No, Other way round. Looking at the PUP hubs there are three (besides Mario, Duplo, Wedo, Spike, RI) - City - technic - boost and the exception is the technic hub, cause it cannot connected with remote, which is an error in the system. All others (city, boost) work fine. Where I'm not sure how to switch channels with boost, cause the green button switches form A+B to C+D ports.
  11. you can connect the hubs with the remote to one of five channels each. - connecting to the same channel the hubs do the same - conneting them to different channels you use the green button to switch between the hubs, they do different things - use the predfefined "set-controls" (i.e. for the 60197) to connect exactly one hub - use a user-written program to connect the remote to up to three hubs and do whatever you want to No need for any FW update
  12. ? a 60337 App ? The train is realesed on 1st of june, so you will have to wait for the new Powerd Up app-version. And it should, according to the past, contain two new sets: the new passenger train, and the new cargo train. Which makes then 6(?) Trains. But as there is the 60197 with no "two train app", why should this appear just now? It is not designed that way. Multiple trains - one remote: yes One Smart Device - one train.
  13. here's a picture of a similar train: Link
  14. yes, sure, that's not a property of the app but of the system.
  15. Have a look at the modern Bombardier 487 001 They are fixed with the black brackets.
  16. Official pictures and info can be found here: https://www.lego.com/en-us/kids/sets/city/freight-train-396e7d63bfc8e86cd8bdee54c25ce8eb https://www.stonewars.de/news/lego-city-60336-gueterzug-offizielle-bilder/
  17. Ok, then we'll find a way you just have to delmit the values between -180° and 180 I'll wait for the pics....
  18. Thanks, no problem at all. The way LEGO does: The limitation is given by mechanical(!) stops. Then when starting the programm it moves the complete range (calibration) and from then it uses onle that range. Is that a solution for you, i.e when steering a car? Or would you learn programming with explicit blocks like "loop" and "if" ? And: what is the input for you program, the angle or the speed? Is there a picture of what you have now?
  19. If you turn backwards and the - 180° is reached you have to allow forward turning only. What programming tool do you use?
  20. Yes, it should be more than a profile for any "hub" The entries in Wikipedia differ, but german (translated) says: The aim of robotics is to create a controlled cooperation between robot electronics and robot mechanics through programming.
  21. Just my idea: Mindstorms ® and Technic™ are LEGO Themes. There is just one "Mindstorms" set, which includes Technic parts and Technic(!) electonic parts, i.e the "Technic™ Large Hub". And there are the motorized "control+" sets with technic parts and Powered Up components, programmable, no Mindstorms at all. And Spike, no Mindstorms at all. And even much more set with System parts, like Boost, trains, piano and so on, few technic parts, programmable, all with Powered Up components. They all don't really belong to "Technic", cause "technic sets" in the way LEGO names sets contain technic parts only. And Duplo, with the hub and two Apps. What do you want to point to? - motorized? ( carousel) - motorized and remote controlled? (car with remote) - motorized and programmed functions? (car with sensors) I think in any case "Mindstorms" is not a good prefix, which it formerly was (some years ago, when Mindstorms EV3 was the only system)
  22. It's not Mindstorms but "Mindstorms and Robotics", and this thas changed with Powered Up, which does not require much technic parts. Many of the topics related to Powered Up and programming are found in "Train" i.e, perhaps thats the "mistake"
  23. That's why I mentioned metal reels and some contact on the back of the wheel, like many model railways do. Or: As your axles have an isolation in the middle, you can pick up from the two half-axles.
  24. Hi, if you intend to develop something you just to develop the pick up of voltage from the tracks. The you can then use - any DCC Decoder with sound and load control - any lego Motor so what you need is an axle with metal reels an some contacs on the flankes or on top.
  25. Then you should change the motor to another EV3 Brick and see what happens, this should make it clear if it is the motor or the brick. And don't forget to check/exchange cables. Does only the motor stop or ist the program completed (see display)
