this will be replaced in July, like the 60197 , I assume.

I see But ideed: the motors allow to control switches without any gear or clutch. That's nice
-
Yes. Please send me 6 extension cables 40cm ..... ;-) And for tracks just on the floor: there is no slot to get the cables underneath...
-
One ist the power supply, the other that the LEGO motrors aren't that small. And how they should be controlled. No problems, just questions ;-)
-
according to app strore the boost app doesn't connnect Powerd up stops with the yellow screen I don't see the outsourcing as the problem, but as Tcm0 wrote there is no continuity and no "masterplan" for all of the different branches. And as I showed with my little graphic: It would be very easy to avoid that all.

Which means a battery-pack at each switch, and power them all up manually ? WLAN ?

? All DCC decoders use EMF wihich is generated by rotation and electromagnetic induction, with any simple motor. Measument takes place in PWM intermission
-
Hi @Toastie two quick remarks: You can use any motor for load control, without any "sensors", the motor and the EMF are good enough, all DCC Decoders use this, with execellent results. PID of course can be adjusted (Pybricks i.e. allows that)

Technic Powered Up hubs 88012 new going cheap on UK eBay
Lok24 replied to idlemarvel's topic in LEGO Train Tech
But 23,5 for 2 ports compared to 13 for the technic hub with 4 ports ! by the way: looking for motors or remote control or sensors its all the same...... -
Technic Powered Up hubs 88012 new going cheap on UK eBay
Lok24 replied to idlemarvel's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hi, if you serach for 88012 you always see the word "Set" in the links etc. So: concerning to BL it is not a "part" "Yes" for 88009, but it's not that cheap ;-) - Search for 88009 - the result is https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=88009-1&name=Hub&category=[Power Functions][Powered Up]#T=S&O={"iconly":0} - click on "Item Consists Of 1 Part" and you will see: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=88009-1 and there is the BL number as a link https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=bb0892c01&idColor=1#T=C&C=1 It's the same as for any other "normal" Set -
Technic Powered Up hubs 88012 new going cheap on UK eBay
Lok24 replied to idlemarvel's topic in LEGO Train Tech
@idlemarvel I just recognized that your post ist about the LEGO Set 88012, this is more expensive, you're right. But why buy the "Set"? Via Bricklink you can easily buy the content of this "set", which is exactly one piece, the hub. The number is bb0961c01 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=bb0961c01&idColor=86#T=S&C=86&O={"color":86,"loc":"UK","iconly":0} -
Technic Powered Up hubs 88012 new going cheap on UK eBay
Lok24 replied to idlemarvel's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hi, that's not really cheap, Bricklink has a dozen about 13 GBP, in EU you find a lot of them in the range of 15-20 € -
all not that bad, here's a quick and dirty diagram What we can see. what's missing is - separating Powered Up App into "set control" and "programming" (which does the same as now, but no reference to any set or theme) - make all devices work on all hubs (physically + supported by programming apps) - distribute a SPIKE/RI programming app (which does the same as now, but no reference to any set or theme)
-
Yes, and thats the point : Exactly that is wrong. Three steps All three PU Hubs with any Motor/Sensor/Remote (includes Spike/RI) and the Powered Up App A hint in the Boost sets to use this to have all available as above All three SPIKE/RI with any Motor/Sensor/Remote (includes Spike/RI) and all of the SPIKE/RI Apps Someone should be able to make some graphics to show the users how to use........
-
One idea might be: the apps show different models to be selected. And the specific building instructions and so on. So from the users point of view they are very different. But the "Help Topics" say: Tips for using the LEGO Education SPIKE™ Prime app and the LEGO MINDSTORMS® Robot Inventor app SPIKE Prime and Robot Inventor are two very different LEGO Robotics sets, but they both use the same programming language and come with the same type of robot hub. These helpful tips will come in handy if you’re putting together either one of them.
-
Yes, it is not quite clear. But these are different things mixed up: "Powered Up" defines the plug and the protocol used, it's not a product. "Mindstoms", "Boost", "Spike" are themes, like "City" or "train" Theses "Themes" can contain Powered up components And yes, there ist a Theme "Powered Up" in the shop where you can buy hubs and motors. "Control+" ist just an app to control several technic models The "Powered Up App" should be the "Powered Up programming app" For the City models there should be a separated app "Control City" What's wrong? There are two "apps" for Spike and Mindstorms, and all these three hubs cannot be accessed via "Powered Up App". And there are too many things that don't work, like connecting a remote to the technic hub, connecting move hub, technic motors in loops not properly working and so on (and a lot of confusion by users naming "Technic Sets" as "Control+ Sets", as far as I know lego never did.)

Hi @Toxic43 great small work! The idea with the hidden hub behind the doors is really funny!

Pybricks Q&A
Lok24 replied to Pybricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, thanks for that , sounds interesting. But "low power mode" means what? The complete idea is useful only when working even when batteries had been removed . -
Pybricks Q&A
Lok24 replied to Pybricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Perhaps a missunderstanding? The LEGO Powered Up app allows the user to change the name of the hub and store it permanently. Or does your reply belong to another topic in this thread? -
Pybricks Q&A
Lok24 replied to Pybricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There should be at least the 14 bytes for the hub name (i.E. "Pybricks Hub" somewhere ? ( I think the remote as well has no dedicated storage? And there it works!) -
Yes, they do, and the simple point is: they are different. BTW: DCC ist just a protocoll, the first digital systems could be bought in 1984, (Märklin-Motorola- protocoll),all others like DCC, Selectrix, mxf were later. And as a model railroad has always metal rails ..... Its very simple, because you can buy the complete product, most of them have plugs for very simple installation. And programming of features via GUI. A consumer product, why not? "pretty accurate" with DCC means, that all trains, nomatter how quick or heavy, stop auromatically in the station with in a range of <5 mm difference. Of cause they al lhave load control, which can be configured in a far range by central or while driving via the handheld. But @Pendra37: I've a dozen of M5 Stack Atom here ,
-
You can't localize a certain train on the track if you have dump analog voltage on the track. And a bridge rectifier ist needed too And a step down, and a motor shield .... Which needs all space and costs money. Small DCC Decoders are available for app. 16,-- € ready to use And: DCC is used for modell railroads, decoders are really small: 9 x 6 x 2 mm for really small modells. So it's just another technique which has its benefits too.
-
Not the decoders, DCC is alternate currrent, but the booster has to switch polarity on track. And as they detec the electrical short you don't any "long" isulation.
