  1. If they put Sauron, Gil-Galad, Isildur, a generic Noldor and a generic Gondorian in a set, I would get a second job... It wouldn't be a great army builder but it would be enough to make me insanely happy.,, and very poor.
  2. Thank you sir. That will make things much easier for me. I will probably be changing my sigfig to something other people can make without sanding down a beard soon ...
  3. I'm glad you stepped out of the shadows Karlson! The beak on the Fierce Flyer bothers me more than anything; it looks way too blocky If that were addressed in addition to the colors, I think I might prefer it to the small molded one. The only other thing that might bother me is its size in relation to the sets. With the gate shrunken down I'm afraid an eagle that is appropriately sized to minifigures could make the set look puny. I look forward to seeing the pictures of someone who tries it.
  4. Take heart Alcarin. :) I don't think Lego will be able to pass up doing an oliphant. I'd bet money on it.
  5. Would you be buying to display or to build and then disassemble? I'm biased as a huge LOTR fan but the Ewok village is, in my opinion, a much better PLAY set and a much worse DISPLAY set. You already know the kind and quantity of the pieces but if the set you choose is going to stay on display, I wouldn't worry about the price per piece. As far as the ents knees are concerned, I think there are a number of very small modifications that could remedy the problem. I wouldn't figure that to be a determining factor.
  6. Sent you a PM Joker. Let me know what you think.
  7. I asked an employee at my store yesterday and he said it would be available in store on the 17th.
  8. In case you didn't know, Brick Forge makes a sword in that style. Haltiamieli, thanks for correcting my mistake about Glamdring. Most consider the notes about Glorfindel's resurrection canon though it is debated I guess. In my mind if you only count what was published in his lifetime, you don't even get to count the Silmarillion.
  9. Hi guys, I know some of you are planning on getting two Black Gate sets to make the full gate. While I would love to do this myself, I want Orthanc much worse and wouldn't have a place to display the gate. I was hoping I might be able to work something out with one of you that would be mutually beneficial. I would be happy to buy all of the figures, just Aragorn, the Mouth and the Eagle or something in between. Due to the difference in retail prices an exchange rates as well as shipping costs, I think it would be best to trade within the US. If you are planning on getting two gates and would like to unload the extra figures all at once please send me a PM. Thanks, Str0ngbad
  10. I agree but Glorfindel is not anywhere close to a mian character. For the vast majority of characters like him, fans that really want them will have to do the best they can. Glorfindel originally died slaying a great Balrog in the Simarillion but was resurrected. Glamdring, Gandalf's sword, was originally Glorfindel's sword.
  11. I picked up the Rivendell set today (two actually). It is every bit as wonderful as I had hoped. The arches are beautiful as are the leaves and figures (the new face for Frodo is welcome). Even though it doesn't have a great price per piece, I think it is an incredible parts pack when you consider the quality of the pieces it contains. I may end up with as many or more of these than Uruk-Hai Army sets. A Lego store employee told me they would have the pirate ship in next Monday. I didn't plan on getting it today anyway. I'll probably wait until I have gotten Orthanc to buy the ship. I think I'm going to try and just buy the figures from the Black Gate from someone who gets two sets for the full gate. I think the set looks great but I really want Orthanc and I'm going to have to cut back somewhere.
  12. It just doesn't seem like anyone is championing them now. It's not much fun to have a rival that doesn't have a voice to fight back. I think this idea would help fill that void a bit. I agree that ideally new members should care to learn a bit about which guild they are joining but I think it's a good idea to make that information as easy to find and learn as is practical.
  13. You are the only other person I e seen ask for this. Granted, there are much more important sets to be taken care of first. It could be a lovely set but it's not going to happen. I expect to be more excited for this winter's hobbit sets than the last. A little less focus on the company and more on other characters could give us so much goodness. I fear we're due another Legolas and Tauriel but hopefully it will be with a Thranduil. Radagast, Galadriel, Beorn, maybe the Necromancer... Bard, Smaug... I get giddy thinking about it.
  14. I'm super new here but I love the sound of that ZC. The Drow were a significant factor in who and where I chose to be. I didn't realize that they were gone until afterwards. Perhaps someone or a few people will have the opportunity to take them back up again.
  15. That altar thing is the most striking part of the MOC to me. I really like the general shape of it more than anything else but that pop of red is really great too.
  16. I would weep bitterly. Bofur's hat is iffy even as on a purist custom. I highly doubt Lego would be so cheap in this area. Radagast will probably be in a set this December. I wouldn't expect to see anything truly new in an LOTR poly this year. A soldier of the dead poly would be really cool but I doubt they will do that since it lessens the need to buy the corsair ship. I'll be ending up with a few Jor-Els even though I dont reslly care about him but I figure I can turn them for $10 easily enough. I totally understand waiting for budget reasons though. I may end up having to do that myself.
  17. You should ask in the Minifigure Customization sub-forum under special interests. Even if you don't want to 'customize' your legos, there are plenty of people there (most of them) who only mix official lego pieces and many are incredibly good at it. I'm personally with Bighappysmiles though, designing a decal for special characters like this can be very rewarding and look spectacular. I just finished designing one (my first) for Gil-Galad and Glorfindel is on my to-do list. That screen shot of yours will be very helpful.
  18. More layering would be good but I think the castle wall could use some added depth a little more than the cliff. Also, going back to Soccerkid's suggestion, breaking up the line between the cliff and the grass would help it look more organic; even just some foliage over the edge might do the trick.
  19. I'm sure that keeping this thing running takes a lot more time and work than most of us realize. Thank you for what you and others do to make this a reality for the rest of us. Hopefully, some approach will be found to lessen the drudgery of being a leader. I hate the idea that the rest of us take all the fun out of it for them. Anyway, I am confident that whatever we end up seeing after Chapter VI will be well worth the wait!
  20. I've seen a few people say they're waiting for double points to get Orthanc but (at Us retail) that's only going save you an extra $10. I would think another Jor-El bag would sell for more than that easily. So I'm not worried about waiting for another promotion, just figuring out when and how to put it in my budget.
  21. Hahaha^ Yes. It's June 1st in the US. :)
  22. Thanks for trying. I gave up on it too. Welcome to Mitgardia Legofin!! Soccerkid, that is a nice haul; all those green arms and capes! I need some help figuring out how to approach putting a waterfall/mountain stream into my WIP. I have almost no blue or trans-clear pieces so I will have to make an order or two but I'd like to have some idea of what I am doing before I start loading random pieces in my cart. Suggestions about any of the build but particularly the water, and even good examples for me to study would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
  23. For things that are already unpackaged, I ship in individual baggies stuffed into a bubble mailer. For boxed sets, Ludzik's suggestion sounds like the best approach; cheap supplies and the box wouldn't be any larger than necessary. I'm afraid wrapping it in paper might cause you some grief eventually.
  24. That's a creative approach to a ballista! Too bad about the iPad, I would love to see it shoot.
