  1. I absolutley love that gold jumper tile roof and the flowers on the building! Where do those flowers come from? I'm not familiar with them but I like them a lot and your use of them is superb. I also love the atmosphere of this MOC. It really does feel like and ethnic experience!
  2. The ornaments on top of the p[avilion look wondeful. There are lots of little details here to enjoy. My favorite is the pie fight I imagine that 'random Valaryian' is about to start! Congrats on a year (almost) in GoH!
  3. That bestiarius was dead the second he walked into that ring. He just didn't know it yet. Great build. Totally deserving of the attention it has gotten. Like TheLegoDr, I too had to scroll up to see the cowboy hat. The round wall is done so well and the textures on it and the ground are so perfectly varied that it doesn't feel like it was built with a bunch of bricks.
  4. Great idea for the tour! I want badly to go to a dig site someday myself. I like the recurring theme of white with splashes of vibrant color for Kaliphlins ancient architecture. Also, your use of the ski pole was particularly creative.
  5. I like that SNOT snowscape and your birds are awesome. The blue one is my favorite but the red one is hilarious and very well done. He'd make a perfect Woody Woodpecker if anyone even knows who that is anymore...
  6. Fantastic use of those long sloped bricks. I was talking with Ska about how impressive this sand work is. The only things I can think of that would improve this MOC would be to make it in white instead of tan, with a different arch and a fir tree!
  7. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to comment Ska but this is great! It's much easier to appreciate the scale of it on a computer as opposed to my phone and the varied colors are superb. The ornamented areas at the crest of each arch are my favorite parts. You really weren't exaggerating when you said you had an awful lot of those grey masonry 1x2s were you? And it looks like you cheated a little on the magistrate's torso.
  8. This is such a charming MOC. The forced perspective is great and that bridge is lovely. I sure didn't know Kaliphlin had anything like this in it!
  9. Great looking tower. I love the shape and that roof is fantastic! I for one really like the use of all the altbricks colors. The tan/brown grasses work really well.
  10. I absolutley love this MOC! I have been watching the tours closely, enjoying them all, but haven't been posting on them due to being limited to my phone. Anyway, I just want you to know that of all of them, this is the build that sticks out in my memory the most. The flower things are so beautiful and fantastic and the trees are very well done. If there is any place in Historica that could make this dwarf want to live somewhere above ground, it's here. Perhaps I can come and visit sometime?
  11. Like many have already said, I really like the curious rocks in this scene. I also would have liked to see the build from a higher angle as I feel like there are probaby details I'm missing. The mushrooms are a great touch and I had been contemplating how to build ravens for a build I'm working on so thanks for solving that for me. Now I just hope I can find some black plumes...
  12. Those boats are both so much fun!! I want to see the other ten.
  13. I really like your stone work. The shapes seem unique and curious while still feeling natural; like they belong there. I also really like your use of the white flowers. They are simple and simple is exactly what you needed there. They make the scene feel far more cool and pleasant than it would otherwise without distracting any from the rest fo the build.
  14. Great work! I love the Goblintown style ramshackle stairs, platforms and bridges and I especially like that you are building for a race not often used. It really does feel like something in between Goblintown and the shadowland in Lion King and I think that is absolutley perfect for your werewolves. I feel like those dwarves should grab that crystal and turn back in a hurry!
  15. It sounds like you should build your sets using only the box art for instructions then. :P
  16. Or a guy in a giant hamster wheel. :D I am trying to get my build finished, photographed and posted by Sunday but we'll see. I really thought I had enough leaves to make more trees than I did and I'm having trouble figuring out something else to occupy that space. I'm sure looking forward to seeing everyone else's.
  17. I have been checking my local Wal Marts and Targets regularly, expecting last year's wave to be marked down. Yesterday, I saw the new sets at Target for the first time, right next to the old ones still at full price. What gives? :p
  18. Yep. Apparently far less than challenge builds but still something.
  19. At the end of June the current chapter will end and all the points will be added up. Free builds won't end but they won't be included in those numbers after June. Does that make it clear as mud?
  20. Infernum, Kabel, SK... It looks like I'm going to be treated to a lot of great stuff in the next few days. :D
  21. Ah, I had the legs on it originally to make it sit level on an uneven surface that I was trying to photograph on. I ended up finding a better place to take pictures but had taken a liking to the legs so I just put them on the back too. I personally like sand green and tan together but I'm sure it could be done much better by better builders.
  22. I can't wait to see your builds guys! This should be a good week for us. Here is my second independent freebuild for Mitgardia. Let me know what you think and more importantly, what I can do to improve! (The flags are wrong. I'll fix it tomorrow. )
  23. Through great effort, the dwarves had learned that the Drow ambushes were being made possible by a crooked Kaliphlin merchant divulging trade routes and schedules but of far greater importance was what the Drow purposed to do with their dwarven prisoners. They were determined to set the dwarves to work tunneling through the ancient mountains and deep dwarven fortifications that had denied them access to the north for so long. There didn't seem to be anymore information to be gotten in Kaliphlin and they still knew far too little to wander blindly into Nocturnus so they turned back to the north. After a few days of traveling at a feverish pace back across the mountains, Khor found himself in the most unlikely of places; at the doorstep of the snow elves, doing something even more unlikely; asking for their help. He had nothing solid to show the Mitgardian authorities and aside form that, it was clear that the guild couldn't do anything that might risk open war so soon after such destruction as had been wrought by Victor. These elves of Mitgardia had been driven from their fair forests in the West by the Drow centuries ago. The Drow poured out from the earth, behind all of the elves' defenses, and razed their city to the ground. There were a few still living who remembered that night and their desperate flight to the north. Khor knew that they of all people would understand what was at stake and hoped he could gain their support. The elf guard on watch was cold and hostile; immediately drawing his bow and shouting at Khor not to take another step. Khor set his shield and flail in the snow and politely asked to speak with their queen. The guard made no move to oblige and still stood unblinking, ready to let his arrow fly for the slightest reason. Now Khor called out in a loud voice, "I seek urgent council with the queen!" Shortly, two more guards came outside to make sure it was safe and then beckoned to the queen. (I'll change this photo out for one with proper flags soon. I took on but it turned out really blurry. ) This is my first snowscape. I was getting impatient waiting on the large build I'm working on to wrap up and the new arches from the Council of Elrond set were just begging me to use them. C&C please!
  24. Thanks SC! That helped out a lot. Turns out the problem wasn't the new Flickr but that I was on Internet Explorer. Here's the first of two freebuilds. Hopefully I'll get the second one up tomorrow. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83903
  25. Guests were traveling from every corner of Historica for Damaxius' grand celebration and the dwarves of Mitgardia's southern mountains were among the throng. As much as they loved to party, they hated big political affairs such as this one far more. In spite of this, the prospect of forging new trade relationships would have been enough to set their caravan on its way to Kaliphlin but for this trip they had far greater motivation. When the rumors spread that some of the most detestable figures in Historica would be smuggled in for the party it sent shockwaves through many political circles. Many of the elf lords of Avalonia were livid and refused to attend in protest but the dwarves saw in this rare gathering an opportunity. Long had they hated the Drow with a passion to rival the elves and many years they spent sealing the gaps between the roots of the mountains to prevent Mitgardia from being defiled with the countless tunnels that lay hidden and twisted beneath the rest of Historica. Lately, the Drow had been ambushing trading caravans; leaving most of its cargo but taking any surviving dwarves to the Underdeep. With whispers of war brewing in Nocturnus, the dwarves hoped to catch a glimpse into what mischief the Drow were planning and what evils might lay in the deep shadow of the east. Khor went to the party and talked to a few of the movers and shakers of Kaliphlin; finding more than a few overeager to agree to new trade relationships thanks to the strong Dwarven ale. A couple of days later when the city reopened for business as usual, he went about delivering some of the ale he had brought in expectation of a buyer and prepared a timely accident. I had a hose sticking through the ground and coming out beneath the table but I lost it outside somewhere when I went to take pictures... The wagon: The minifigs: As always, C&C wanted and thank you for looking.
