  1. Wouldn't this give the average speed over the 50m? If you have a light gate or something like that you can: Measure the distance of your trike, say this is x Drive it at top speed through the light gate, say the time it takes to pass the gate is y speed = x/y Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong.
  2. Couldn't you go a smaller scale? It would be lighter and possibly faster? You could use the 9397 truck wheels on the front and the 9393 (I think) tractor's rear wheels. Or a slightly larger scale using the 81.4 tires... But it's really up to you, I am eager to see this project develop either way.
  3. I think I'll go for a wacky idea after my 4 link crawler, is an offroad NASCAR wacky enough for my next project?
  4. I don't own any buggy motors but I recently aquirred a third party 380 motor, I decided to make some sort of crawler with it but I guess I could make it look more like a formula off road ;) this project will take some time but I should get some real speed and power...
  5. This should be interesting.. I hope you meet all your goals as this could turn out really cool!
  6. Wow, really authentic model, great work!
  7. I say, it's lego, there's only so much you can do with it but if you want to modify parts then go for it.
  8. One XL should easily take this thing. People make 8x8 trial trucks driven by one XL.
  9. Cool crawler! The body work is great and it seems to have good functions too, keep it up.
  10. Wow they are really cool! Great job effe!
  11. I think he just used those springs and that piece to make the spring stiffer, like ATR's idea of putting a half bush in a 6L spring... I always wondered if something like that was possible with 9L springs.
  12. I am actually quite excited for this... xD
  13. If you build stong enough bumpers you might not need to make the chassis as strong? Also have you seen sariel's 2 speed gear box for RC motors? The one that switches between the fast and slower output? Thanks for the info about lego.com too!
  14. Wow this is a really cool project. I can't wait to see a video. ;) I need to get the snowmobile for the new suspension parts before I can start my project, for now I'm just experimenting & planning... Hopefully your performance shouldn't decrease too much, I think the steering radius won't change but you might notice a difference in speed...
  15. Sounds great! Your front suspension is great, what kind of suspension have you built on the rear?
  16. I think 3D printing would be a bit britle for something like that. Vacuum moulding would be more sensible...
  17. Thanks for clearing things up Philo! It seems I may need to buy a V2 receiver...
  18. Wow, thanks guys! The only issue is that I only have a V1 receiver, does it deliver a lower current than V2?
  19. Modifying an AA battery box is actually really easy! I thing the problem is getting current from the receivers. If you use a v2 receiver you should be fine.
  20. My third party 380 motor came in the mail yesterday. The motor takes in 1.25 amps I think but it will only spin for a few seconds, I think this may be due to how much power the Battery box or the IR reciever can deliver. My question is does anyone know how much power they deliver and if it is recommended to 'remove' the overload protection? My other question is; is there anything I can do to the motor to make it need less current? I noticed PF motors have 'things' on the back of them if you open them up. I'm not sure what these things are or if my motor needs them. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!
