  1. People build, people play and people collect. From the sheer number of people on this board, you are clearly not alone in appreciating LEGO as a toy, artistic medium and hobby. I leave my bricks at home in two IKEA buckets and a shoebox, and I only build with them when I'm on holiday. In the interim, I use LDD and browse Flickr and Eurobricks.
  2. Wow! I'm very happy that TLG have made such a detailed, large set as the line's flagship. I might even get it; it looks nice for tan, orange, etc. even though it has those terrible minifigs.
  3. Absolutely! That doesn't bother me. My "brick separator" of choice is a penknife.
  4. Are there any sets that sell routinely for less than retail on the aftermarket, especially MISB? I haven't looked, but I doubt it.
  5. I feel that the actual building in the Parisian Restaurant looks fantastic, but it loses some of the size because of the heavy emphasis on interior. That just eats up pieces. Green Grocer, on the other hand, had a sufficient interior and was much larger than the Parisian Restaurant, but they sold for *about* the same.
  6. I happened to PM Sinner about that very ad today. I know that EB is an 18+ site, but I don't need to see NSFW content next to The LEGO Movie news, you know?
  7. 7. viracocha - 2 points 20. gazumpty - 1 point 38. vecchiasignoraceppo - 2 points Well done, all entrants!
  8. I didn't see this topic earlier, but welcome to Eurobricks!
  9. I'd prefer yellow-faced minifigs and hairpieces that don't have ears, too. I'd welcome a return to something like Black Falcons.
  10. Thanks for the review of this excellent set, and I must say all that perfectly clear trans-yellow makes me a bit jealous!
  11. I'd try and go lower on the second deal, but the Arctic theme was great so I wouldn't mind paying $32 for that.
  12. Don't feel bad at all. It was my fault to contact you and, at any rate, I hedged my bets between you and LegoDad.
  13. Minifigures aren't a new thing. They supplement the building process by providing characters with which children can identify and play. I don't myself recall doing that, preferring to build instead, but I'm sure I must have played with the minifigures as characters at some point. There's nothing wrong with a child treating minifigures like small action figures - it allows creativity. Your son's obviously having lots of fun with his minifigures and, when he builds the rest of the set, he'll have more fun.
  14. What's up with the two Snotras and the double-scum kill from the other night? Congratulations, scum!
  15. Ditto. I'm looking forward to that, too. The landspeeder is disappointing - the last Luke + Obi-Wan speeder was in 2010 (so I suppose it is on schedule for a revamp) but my point is that I'd really prefer to have separate speeder and Cantina sets - then we could really have the Cantina as it was in the film, rather than as a pared-down booth with minifigs. Of course, that won't happen, but a guy can dream, can't he?
  16. Hello, cr4ckp0t, and welcome to Eurobricks! I don't know anything about Mindstorms EV3 but there are plenty of people over at the Technic forum to talk to and share ideas with. Have fun here!
  17. Hello, RCS, and welcome to Eurobricks! There are topics for everything you're interested in, so just get started. Enjoy it here!
  18. But if the Time Lords let the Doctor die, there's no way they can be certain which universe to come back to. After all, "Doctor Who?" was their best question.
  19. Since when is Johnny Thunder a superhero?
  20. Thanks for the review! How does the 2-in-1 function work? Does it fold from a gate into a spaceship or do you have to take it apart and reassemble it?
  21. Thanks for the review! This is a weird-looking set, for sure, but I do like the settee and the tube of glue, both of which you pointed out. The set seems somehow absurd, but I'm sure it'll make sense when The LEGO Movie comes out.
  22. Hello! "Some fifty miles below the Inner Station we came upon a hut of reeds, an inclined and melancholy pole, with the unrecognisable tatters of what had been a flag of some sort flying form it, and a neatly stacked wood-pile. This was unexpected" -Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness The boat was based on the Roi des Belges, the steamboat that Conrad captained on the Congo in the late 19th Century. Thank you for looking. See more photos at Flickr!
  23. If we could have the East Wing of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC...
  24. Nor can I. The blog post that jamesster linked to has a photograph of the CS ship, which is even prettier than the illustration. I may have to get this set!
  25. Is it so TLG can have a consistent "look" throughout the set? When I was building Fallingwater, I noticed there was an area that could have been tiled with a 1x4 and a 1x2, but was done with 3 1x2 tiles. I suspect the latter was chosen to hav e consistent "look" of 1x2 plates on the roof of the building.
