  1. Brickset Eurobricks Bricklink BrickFanatics The New Elementary Those are the only ones I use regularly.
  2. Yes I think it was, TaltosVT. Thanks! I wondered why they were referred to as Big Ben wheels... I assume their 'large driver' wheels and 'flanged train wheels' are pretty much the same as Lego's own? EDIT: Ah yes I see they are.
  3. I'm trying to find a size of train wheel which I think I've seen on here, but I can't find it on BL. It's the size between this: and this: but not this: If I remember rightly, it has a technic pin hole like the latter two wheels above, but is smaller than those two wheels. Can anyone help?
  4. Thanks. I really like them, especially the small tank engines, and I'm thinking of adapting them to fit Power Functions.
  5. Another question on the trains, do you have them powered? If so, do you use 9V or PF? The tank engines look to be just a touch too small to fit the PF gubbins in them properly.
  6. ^ It wouldn't fit through the x in the round 2x2 plate. I've used a wrench-thingy instead. I've also built another one, but in black with dark-red detailing, which I think looks better. I've not taken photos yet though.
  7. Yes the gauge is the same and it will run on the track lego sell at the moment. in terms of power functions, you'll need 4 things. The battery box, ir receiver, train motor and remote control. Sorry, I don't know the set numbers off the top of my head, as I'm typing this on my phone.
  8. Nice! Does it go around corners?
  9. Thanks! The wire to the battery box will go through the slot in the dividing wall that you can see in picture 2. I have a feeling the cab will be filled with wires. If only TLG did PF components with leads that were only 5cm long... Oh and I forgot to mention, the black bar sticking up behind the chimney is for pressing the green button to turn the battery box on. I might see if I can find something a bit shorter.
  10. Thanks! Yes it is meant to detach. It actually sits in pretty sturdily.
  11. I've spent the evening building a Pannier Tank Engine. it doesn't run, as I haven't put an IR receiver or battery box inside it yet (I'd have to take them out of my Constitution train), but there are 'dummy' ones in there which I built out of bricks so I had something to work around. It's sat on top of the PF train motor (I removed my Constitution tender from the motor temporarily) to see if it would sit on it well, which I think it does. In the second photo you can see how it's meant to sit on it, and how most of the body is basically built onto the (dummy) battery box. There should be enough space for all the wires... What do people think? Can you see any potential issues or problems? Looking at it now, I'll probably lower the roof by one plate, and I might replace the windows with something else. I'll probably do other stuff to it as well, but for an evening's work, I'm quite pleased.
  12. Does the IR receiver work ok, being so low down?
  13. I'm curious, they're very nice designs, but do they actually exist, or are they all just virtual? EDIT: sorry, didn't read the last paragraph. Could we see some photos of the real trains?
  14. Oh I don't know, I quite like the sorting aspect of the hobby; I find it quite calming, and it also appeals to the more OCDish side of me...
  15. Try this link for the UK site (from Brickset): http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Pick-A-Brick-11998;jsessionid=XN2Ew7pUx1bbgRQ1dCGzwQ**.lego-ps-4-1?fromListing=listing&CMP=AFC-AffiliateUK&ShipTo=GB&_requestid=1295877
  16. ^ It glows in the dark ;)
  17. Are those genuine LEGO parts? Seriously though, that's impressive!
  18. Honestly? I'd quit the LUG, and look to start my own that wasn't so pig-headed. I could almost understand if the LUG had been going for years and years, but to have only just started and be insisting on that is ridiculous. Start your own LUG dude, there'll be one or two others in there that agree with you. Did you say that only 3 of the 15 members have 9V trains? Was I reading that right, or did I misunderstand?
  19. 'the LUG show co-ordinators insist on 9v only' Seriously? Talk about trying to hold back the tide. As user large88 said, at some point they'll be forced to start converting to PF. They're burying their heads in the sand; how is anyone new meant to get to display stuff without shelling out a fortune on old stuff?
  20. Thankfully there's enough time before August for me to get all the current Train sets! Has anyone ever seen 7939 Cargo Train in a Bricks & Mortar LEGO store in the UK?
  21. 'Already run out of ideas'? Really? I guess you must never have seen European Christmas Markets then? A Market is the perfect thing for the range, so they clearly haven't run out of ideas. Next year's set is probably already planned and mostly designed by now.
  22. I use www.wallofbricks.com rather than brickbuildr now, as it takes 5 mins to update an entire wall, rather than an hour.
  23. try www.wallofbricks.com - it was mostly updated just the other day, and is very easy to update. Please let me know if they really do have blue spheres on their wall though!
  24. The case with the flower part in Grand Emporium happened to me. I had to contact CS twice before I got the correct piece, and even then I had to carefully explain what was wrong and what the difference was. To be fair to them, they sent me 3 of them! I've also contacted CS the other day about getting the old shark mold in a Coastguard set, when the new mold was shown on the box.
  25. Thanks for that confirmation - I'm very glad I picked mine up early this year when I had a hunch it wouldn't be returning.
