This looks fantastic! As someone else pointed out though, the only downside is that it is open at the back, rather than having the different sections lifting off. Still, it's amazing! Does it still connect to other modulars on both sides? How do they look alongside it? Great work!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Paperballpark replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
^ I think your post is very fair comment for a thread entitled 'rumours and discussion'! For what it's worth I think you're pretty spot on - the line seems to be set between the mid 30's and mid 50's, so modern buildings are thankfully out. In terms of future speculation, I think the next one will be a civic building - as you say, a bank, library, museum, post office or something similar. I'd prefer a bank, personally. -
It is, and that's a pretty good price - about what I paid for my BL'd one (including postage). Plus you'll have the coveted 1x8 bricks in Sand Green as well! :)
-
Wow! That's pretty impressive!

^ It's Lego, re-build it into something that's non-Christmasy!
-
I don't tend to ask for Lego, as I know I can find better deals than my family can. I do save the Winter Village set for Christmas day though, so that I have something to build! :)

Winter Village: Ferris Wheel (Competition Entry)
Paperballpark replied to Paperballpark's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks both! I think the standard of entries is going to be amazing this year, so I don't know if mine is good enough (yet), but we'll see! :) -

Winter Village: Ferris Wheel (Competition Entry)
Paperballpark replied to Paperballpark's topic in LEGO Town
I wondered if anyone would notice! Unfortunately I don't have that many spare minifigs, although I suppose I could take some from my other winter village sets once I get them out for this year. -
Uk here. We only got the brick friday discounts, first pick of a few reduced sets, and a free wristband and poster. No free pab box just for turning up, and no triple vip points either. oh well.

Winter Village: Ferris Wheel (Competition Entry)
Paperballpark replied to Paperballpark's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks both! Yes I'll probably change the red in three of the gondolas to blue, green and (probably) yellow. The blue and orange colours for the lights were chosen to try and tie it into the WVM a bit - as you say, to have the same kind of 'lighting' as the Carousel. -
I'm in the UK, and much to my surprise I got an invite. To the store that is 3rd closest to me. Which I've only ever visited once. At which I spent approximately £65 (about $100). However, that one time was on the Saturday of the Grand Opening event, and I was the first person served that day. I think that must have had something to do with it. My point is I don't think it's just about how much you spend, it must take into account other factors too.

MOD Lone Ranger, Constitution Train Chase, set 79111
Paperballpark replied to zephyr1934's topic in LEGO Train Tech
@firstofminifigs You might want to have a look at the thread linked below, showing how I incorporated the IR receiver into the cab. At the moment the PF gubbins have been removed so that I can use them in my Pannier Tank engine, but when I put them back in the Constitution I'll most likely modify it again to do something similar to Brickset user crazycarl and put it all in the tender. http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/comment/236255/#Comment_236255- 15 replies

Winter Village: Ferris Wheel (Competition Entry)
Paperballpark replied to Paperballpark's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks! That's quite a good idea, I might look at doing that and having a different colour for each gondola. Yes by all means it's open to comment. In fact I'd rather people say what they think should be improved, than keep quiet and just say it looks fine even if they think improvements could be made. :) -
Thanks! Yes the bar with clip turns the battery on/off when pressed down. Unfortunately I don't have any of that curved 'telephone' part in either dark red or black. I'm not even sure they do it in dark red.

@schermvlieger Sorry, I don't have an LDD file of it, I just built it. I'll try and take some photos of the Grey one in various sections at some point, but in the meantime hopefully you can see quite a bit of the internals and work out how some of it is built. @Hrw-Amen Thanks, I do too. The grey and black is a bit too bland for my liking.

An update: I've built a dark red and black version with all the PF gubbins in it. It all fits (although the wires were a pain), and it runs very nicely indeed. I can't help thinking it looks a bit too high on the motor, but it isn't possible to get it any lower (the battery box sits directly on top of the motor pin). Thoughts?

Winter Village: Ferris Wheel (Competition Entry)
Paperballpark replied to Paperballpark's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks! I must admit I'm quite surprised that I'm the first entry. -
This is my entry to the Winter Village competition to expand the Winter Village Market. I figured that as there's a carousel, there should be another ride too, so I present to you my Winter Village Ferris Wheel. UPDATE: the gondolas are now different colours/colors, I've also added a circular backing to it, changed the way they're attached, and added a bit more detail (including a little tree!). Oh and the photos I've taken are better too UPDATE 2: There's now photos of it displayed as part of my Winter Village layout on my Flickr account here. Fitting perfectly on a 16x16 plate, everyone who goes to the Winter Village Market wants to go on the Ferris Wheel! The lady patiently waits her turn as the girl pays for her go (things are expensive in the Winter Village Market!) The attendant takes the girl's money as the lady makes her way into the pod. A side view of the Ferris Wheel. The back of the Ferris Wheel, just to confirm it does fit on 16x16. The wheel turns easily, with the pods hanging freely from it. Larger photos can be found on Flickr here. It's the first time I've done a Winter Village scene of my own, so I hope you like it. Please feel free to ask any questions, and thanks for looking!

Future Train sets discussion/speculation
Paperballpark replied to peterab's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I think when the next two are released, the current two will be retired. -
I'm quite surprised that no-one has posted an entry yet (either than or I'm looking in the wrong place for entry topics). I built mine this morning, and I think I'll go take photos of it and post it shortly. It may not be perfect, but I have 6 weeks to improve it, and I want to get in there first before anyone else has the same idea!
