What is your least favorite LEGO set?
Paperballpark replied to CardinalBricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't really have one tbh. Building 4440 though, was what made me realise that even the larger city sets just didn't 'do it' for me. Since then, I've pretty much stuck to Exclusives. 4440 wasn't bad, as such, it just wasn't a satisfying enough build for me. -
New Lego stores opening in 2013

^ I'm glad you said BC. Just to clarify it for others, you mean British Columbia in Canada. Not Guildford, Surrey, UK... -
oh so you used tape on the inside of the lid to hold them in? Interesting tactic, I might try that...
-
@Cara how did you manage to get the small pieces into the lid without them falling out when you put it on?

Useful sets for parting out - Shop for me please!
Paperballpark replied to datune's topic in LEGO Town
@datune, you can see the inventory of ewok village on brickset here: http://www.brickset....il/?set=10236-1 just click the 'inventory' tab. EDIT: not sure how accurate it is though. According to that, there's 31 Chewbacca heads in the set... I just checked the UK S@H, and both GE and FB are still available. I have them already, so no panic there, but I thought others might be interested to know. -
Useful sets for parting out - Shop for me please!

I'd go with what most people have said here. TBH it all depends on what he's planning on MOCing - Star Wars grey isn't very useful if he's making medieval scenes! Am I the only person wanting him to post photos of what he buys? -
Thanks GRogall! Nice to know the stickers will still be available when I purchase it in November :) That is, assuming it's for the UK as well as the US...

The 1x2 Masonry bricks have been available in Manchester (UK) on and off for about a month or two now.
-
Thanks! It would be good to know if this offer will still be on (in the UK) in November, as that's when I'm planning on getting the Palace Cinema.

I actually found the Grand Emporium a bit boring to build - the 1st and 2nd floors (2nd and 3rd to yanks) were very repetitive.
-
I put different colour bricks of the same type in one drawer (e.g. all 1x1 plates together), until I have too many of one colour, and then that colour gets it's own drawer. I currently have about 10 drawers for different colours of 1x1 round plates! If one drawer isn't enough for a colour, I'll move it to a larger drawer. If that larger drawer becomes too small, I'll move that colour into a plastic tub. That's as far as I've got at the moment, but there are larger plastic tubs available, should colours outgrow the tubs they're in at the moment...

^ That's an old page, not up to date. Brickset is very good though, for doing what are called 'advanced queries'. http://www.brickset.com/search/advanced/edit/ Go to that page, select 'number of pieces' in the first drop-down box, select 'greater than', and then type a number (say, 2000). Then click 'and' to bring up another row, select 'category', 'does not equal', 'collection' (this removes collections of sets from the result). Now on the 'order by' section, choose 'number of pieces', and 'descending'. Now click 'Generate SQL', and then click 'execute query' lower down. This will open up a new tab, with a list of all sets above 2000 pieces, sorted by piece count. You'll see, for example, that the new Sydney Opera House is the 10th biggest LEGO set. Play around with the query builder some more, it's really quite powerful. You can use it to do a lot of things, including listing all sets currently available by piece count. (If you're interested, Tower Bridge is #1, Death Star is #2, SSD is #3 and Sydney Opera House is #4).

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality

Hmm yes I suppose it could be seen like that. Fair enough. -
Free Lego Give Aways. Whats been your favourite?

Easy, the 2012 Christmas Set (3300014). I'm hoping for something similar this year (maybe a separate market stall?) -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Paperballpark replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Why doesn't he re-post the photos and re-name it so that it doesn't refer to JP, once it reaches, ooh, 9000 votes? I've never tried posting a CUUSOO project, so I don't know if that's possible or not. -
That is just absolutely stunning. I've never seen anything like it built out of LEGO, and probably never will again. Simply amazing, and deserves to win pretty much any competition it's entered into.
-
Yes, it'll hopefully be going on display in a LEGO store Showcase in November, so I made a display bit at the front to put a card in giving details of it, as well as a little challenge, which is to spot the 12 creatures (not counting minifigs) in the display. I don't think it's possible to see them all from the photos - heck, it's hard enough to see a couple of them even when it's in front of me!
-
Thanks both! I like the possibilities that vegetation gives, and I like the 'medieval' period, it's so much 'softer' and more in tune with nature than nowadays. I did try to deviate from and build on DC's techniques where I could, but the basic ideas are so good I really don't see the point in trying to 're-invent the wheel' as it were. Besides, even if I had used different techniques, I'm sure someone somewhere will already have done it!
-
Hi all, this is my first MOC, 'Medieval Meeting Place'. I estimate that it uses about 2000 - 2500 pieces, and it took me about 15 - 20 hours to build over the course of 3 months. I used or adapted a few techniques demonstrated by Derfel Cadarn. The photos aren't brilliant, but hopefully you can get a good idea of what it's like. The full album is here.

1. Yes 2. Occasionally I do, it depends on the event. I may get more involved in future, but it depends in what capacity. 3. Yes I would, probably on Brickset.

Someone should arrange a 2-day PAB crawl for AFOLs... One day for the north - Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and one day for the south - Bluewater, Stratford, Watford and Westfield.Drinks and chat in the evenings, chat on the trains to and from the places, and book a cheap hotel each night. I think I've hit on the perfect stag do for if I ever get married...
-
The problem with a light brick is that I can't see anywhere in this set that it could reasonably be incorporated.
-
I think this looks brilliant, and the price - being £10 less than the WV Cottage - is more reasonable than last year. I'll definitely be getting one, and will probably get another too as a Christmas present for my mum.
