2015 LEGO Pirates Rumors and Discussion
Sigolf Brimabane replied to Yawgmoth's topic in LEGO Pirates
I went to BR and bought three blue baseplates. I used the opportunity to inquire about why the pirate sets haven't yet hit the shelves in Scandinavia. They didn't know but in the catalogue it said they should be out in March. So possibly later this month. -

Hmm... Thanks for the tips. I think I'll do the same thing as Hive though, make it more TLG-ish. I don't have an awful lot of ship parts : P -

Hmm... This will be a very off topic post, but I don't know where else to put it. It would be cool if there were a "general talk about pirates" thread. Well... I just ordered some white hull pieces (because if I don't order them they might disappear and become expensive) from the friends sets. I also ordered the Imperial Flagship sails (now I've got two sets of sails from it, hehe). I was thinking of building a cool white ship for the bluecoats (but one hull piece shorter than Imperial Flagship and with only two masts). Are there any ships made on those white hull pieces on here? I'd like some general tips. Otherwise I'm thinking of using the same style as Imperial Flagship, but with different colours (yellow and blue on the sides of the ship for example). -
This is going to be tricky... Brick Bounty Pros: More parts MUCH better figures Better flag The skulls on the sails, while being annoying, are much better than the old ones Cons: While the smaller top sails are nice, you have to stick to the printed big sails. Badly designed cabin/captain's quarters (I don't know much about English words for ship parts...) A bit ugly colours Brickbeard's Bounty Pros: The animals Design The sails without skulls Nice colours Cons: Fewer parts Ugly skulls Bad flag Not as nice figures I can't really decide :S I might vote for Brick Bounty anyway.

Aye, it said they can't use express delivery for B&P. -
Now expand Soldiers' Fort as well : P

It can be combined but I don't know about saving delivery costs. Delivery was cheap though, only 11 SEK. -

Hear hear! Would be great seeing more pirate mocs in general. One day I hope to upload a pirate moc of my own. -

The new bluecoat flag is so fabulous <3 I also had that problem at first when I tried to make an order! Had to fill the shopping basket up again D: But it worked the second time. -

Bl**dy bricks and pieces D: Now I made an order, and it just feels expensive </3 Anyways... I ordered 1 big bluecoat flag, 1 small bluecoat flag, 1 big pirate flag, 2 dark blue admiral hats, 1 plain black "admiral hat", 2 admiral torsos, 5 bluecoat torsos, 6 of those "ladder" pieces for the ship (they were expensive... but I needed 6 for my "budget" Imperial Flagship), 1 green pirate torso, 2 red pirate torsos, 2 female pirate torsos, 2 white pirate torsos. And some weapons and backpacks. :S I was going to try to save up for a driver's license </3 Why must the pirate lego be so nice?! Edit: I felt like I had to make the order before the pieces I want are out of stock. -

What is B&P and how can I get more of those flags? D: I'd like to get some of the parts without necessarily having to buy the sets multiple times. They're not yet available in Sweden, they're expensive, I'd get multiple of the governor and the governor's daughter... But I'd like at least one more flag, maybe more of the governor's hat etc. Edit: Ah... I found it. It's quite expensive. Maybe it would be better to just buy another copy of the set then. -
I love this little set because it was the only Pirate set I had as a wee li'l bairn. My brother and I bought Redbeard Runner when it was rereleased as well. The skeleton's helmet was one of those extra special pieces when I was a kid. :) I "display" this together with Redbeard Runner.

Somehow I feel Lego were much more "generous" back in the days. Look at the two recent rafts in Pirates II and III... No sail (unless you count that little mantle on the latest one) :( Also no wheels on the cannons in the ship etc. Though I think the new minifigures are better than the old ones. Love both classic and modern lego though. : )

Hmm, now I almost regret buying my set so early. I would have liked this shark. It would fit with the new crocodile and sawfish. My shark acts as figurehead on my "budget" imperial flagship now x) I basically changed the most expensive pieces for the same ones in another colour. The result is great.

You have to take a picture :0 I got the same one as in the review.

Tja! I ordered all the sets from a bricklink store located in the Netherlands. All in all it was a few hundralappar cheaper than both amazon and S@H. I have also been wondering when they come out here, but it seems that they either won't come at all or they will be released in the summer or autumn. They don't have the sets in the current Lego catalogue. -

I just ordered all the sets (plus an extra Soldier's Outpost) from a Bricklink store located in the Netherlands. Hope they arrive next week. How come only stores in the Netherlands seem to have them? There were three Dutch stores that had them, and no other places. :S Anyways, I hope the sets are of good quality. -

Well. I liked it before when only a few pieces were shiny and sparkly. Like the king's crown, the coins, the silver sword... It felt really special to own those. But now there are gold parts in every set. Though, I can't ever really complain, because I love lego. I just built a budget Imperial Flagship (y) I had most parts already, bought the sails, and exchanged some of the rare colours for more available ones. I'm only missing those shrouds (?) which are pretty rare these days. I hope they'll get cheaper when the new ship comes out. -

I think lego has always been colourful in the past. Like using yellow for sand... Now we have more natural colours: tan, dark brown, you name it. One thing I am disappointed with is that Redbeard has golden epaulettes now... I liked the brown ones he had in the past. I think a reason why the bluecoats may feel too colourful is that the whole torso is blue now, compared to the white ones they had in the past. I can't say anything about the blue colour as compared to the old one, the only old bluecoat I have (which I got today) has faded blue colour. Was it once bright? -

I frankly cannot see any juniorisation in these sets. The figures look like almost exact replicas of the classic figures. The new bluecoats look even more classic than the redcoats. Most of the soldier faces are just modern versions of the classic smile-face. And Redbeard is back. The sets are somewhat lacklustre though, but nothing that some modding and mocing can't fix. The new jolly roger flag is also back to the classics with a fierce-looking skull compared to the strange one of 2009. What's missing: classic palmtrees, monkeys. I already have two old monkeys that I can use. And I ordered soldiers fort from 2009, so I'll get one there as well. I do agree about 2013 castle though. They didn't beat kingdoms. Just my opinion. And as I missed out on the 2009 stuff AND classic pirates (only got Redbeard Runner from 2001) I am really getting excited about these sets... Which makes me very worried since the sets aren't in the lego catalogue NOR the product catalogue sent out to toy shops... -
Best Japanese-themed build I've seen! Would it be okay to steal some of these techniques? (of course it is). Clever use of the minifig plates, my brother and I have quite a few of them. Nice to see that they can be used for Asian roofs. :)

The Pirates of the Caribbean sets were too expensive for me to afford, like the newest Hobbit sets. :/ I hope we get at least one more lego original pirates line before PotC then. :) The sets are cool though, if only they were cheaper.
