  1. Really cool! Would be a "nice" twist if you got a virus if you clicked on the picture of the Trojan horse xD
  2. I think I've seen that chair at Ay!K-ARR :) Cool build, but the gunport is a bit too close to the waterline. She'll take in water : P Interesting to see only a part of a ship though.
  3. Yup, this is definitely a good set. Your videos are amazing! :) Glad I managed to collect the pieces for it. I even have an extra of the baseplate that I might try to turn into Imperial Trading Post some day. The biggest problem will be the sails for the little ship though...
  4. Ridiculously awesome :) But isn't Cpt. Cookie himself a bit modified? Didn't you take away some of the stains or so on the torso? Anyway, it's not like pieces have been modified to allow illegal connections or something like that. Really funny build at any rate. :)
  5. Oh, thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately I took it apart because it was collecting quite a bit of dust... :/ I started on another project instead, which I might be able to finish for the Pillage the Village contest. It's not a ship though. But when I finally get round to making a ship I'll try to incorporate your suggestions. More cannons = good idea :D And making the captain's cabin a bit lower than the deck is also great. It looked pretty bad from behind so maybe that will solve it. I'd try to keep the colour scheme as well. White + dark blue + yellow works really well I think. I have a white hull as well, but I have a very limited assortment of white parts.
  6. I would not say it's better than being killed... but I have experienced neither and the victims of one of those kinds of violence never live to tell the tale so guess it's hard to compare. I had thought of doing something with slavery and islanders, but I think that would probably be too serious for the LEGO world as well. It still feels like a natural part of colonisation, which the *insert colour*-coats are doing. Anyways, I look forward to seeing good builds, and hope I have a shot at making it into the top four :) I hope this livens up the Pirate forum. Does this competition mean that BoBS is nigh? Edit: knowing Eurobricks we'll probably see some insane builds that claim the top spots... but I can dream at least.
  7. My MOC will feature the evil Imperial Soldiers killing "criminals" (there will be a tragic backstory)... is that evil enough? And is this too much of a spoiler for my entry (which might not be ready in time because of university)?
  8. Hmm, my build is in the large category , I think it is 64x96 studs big. So it would have to be one heck of a large paper : ) I've seen that some people use those roll down curtains, but then I'd have to buy one of those. And I need to make a couple of orders for my build already... So I think I'll have to try the editing.
  9. Vielen Dank für die Empfehlungen. Thanks for the recommendations. :) Maybe I'll try gimp. So will I only be allowed to erase background on one photo? Otherwise there'll be shelves, chairs and stuff behind the build. : P Edit: Oh, it seems I can remove backgrounds at least.
  10. I might be able to enter the competition... But I am still not confident in my photographing skills. Also the only camera I own is a cellphone. I also don't have any picture editing program for my computer where I can remove the background, so my pictures will be very inferior to those of other members. Does anyone know if there is a good editing program legally available for free?
  11. Sails and minifigures are the most important for me, and the parts that are unique to the set. Other parts can often be easily replaced. :)
  12. I think the greatest disappointment is that there is no bluecoat ship. But if there were I am sure people would have complaints anyway. I'm happy that I finally got to lay my hands on some pirates sets after missing out on everything that came before. :)
  13. Are we allowed to steal the roof technique? :) The build looks great and the fish-slapping looks fun, unless you're on the receiving end : P
  14. Awesome! :) The figure head and tail are really well done. Here's the longship I built last year, for comparison: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94934
  15. Imagine this set with a classic palmtree and flag : P Plus a cannon and monkey, hehe.
  16. Back in the days, all the pirates had the same head and all the soldiers had the same head :PPP Yeah, I understand it's different now. Is that little "retro" set exclusive to VIP customers? :/ I do want the new torso, but I don't want to pay an extreme amount of money for it.
  17. Has anyone tried these combinations before? I really like the guy with the revolutionary soldier torso. Looks like the French Imperial Guards in the Napoleonic wars.
  18. I agree, it's in the vein of the new pirates sets, nothing about it looks retro. :)
  19. Wishful thinking most likely. I doubt we'll see those again :/
  20. I had some luck at the auctions :) "Salvaged" a nearly complete Caribbean Clipper "wreck" from the depths of the sea. Unfortunately, the flags had one of their CLIPS broken D: But they still work pretty fine. The rest of the parts seem to be in near mint condition actually, so quite happy with it. It came with a lot of old old bricks from the 70s, there was even a shield from yellow castle in it. Five black falcons and five lion knights were in there too. And a red spaceman. I might try to resell all that didn't belong to the CC. The lot also had a complete Broadside and four bluecoats (three without hats). I also managed to win two more auctions, one with five old bluecoats and one with five new redcoats (one was the governor). :) A pretty nice haul. I'm thinking of merging this with the Caribbean Clipper I already own, making a "copy" of Black Seas Barracuda, but with CC colours. :) Edit: some more parts that sadly are missing: the yellow (expensive) parrot, cannons, anchor Unfortunately the third sail was missing :/ But these are in quite nice condition, not much yellowing, not much creasing. They have some dirt in them though, but you don't see it immediately (and you can't see it in the photo). The sails were a bit folded before, but after putting these books on top of them, especially the three-volume Middle High German dictionary from 1876, they became a bit better:
  21. I wouldn't "waste" my money on clone brands. But this build just looks awesome. Lego makes way better minifigures though, but the castle is better than many (most?) lego sets available. Looks like it's nice both for playing and displaying! :)
  22. So, I'm trying to design a fort. This is a quick idea that I had that I think would look cool. I'm not going for historical accuracy, I just want to build something that looks good. Eventually I'll try to build it in real bricks (working on a base right now). So, what do you think? How can/should I make the wall more interesting? Has anyone done something like this before? I'd be happy if you'd link me some cool fort builds, and real forts for inspiration. I've been searching on google, but I haven't actually found much.
  23. I think kids usually come up with good stories themselves : P They have the best imagination. Look at the thread about Brethren of the Brick Seas. It's a discussion about a roleplaying project that might start here in a few weeks or months. It might be a bit advanced for young kids, but you will be able to make stories there (within the frame of the game).
  24. Yeah, I have done all that a few pages back. My thingy turns up with a blank picture, look: http://bakahomepage.com/EB/AG/media/img/playersig/ace.png
