Bored of the negativity around this set now. I get it, some of you think it's too small. Don't need to hear this post after post after post. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you do like it but think it's too small then buy two (that'll really teach TLG a lesson won't it!). But please can we have less of the same comments again and again and again. I've got better things to do than trawl through repetitive comments trying to find any meaningful discussion. Cheers Rog

You mean you "would like" and not that we "need" as I would say exactly the opposite. Far too sweeping a statement to make and there will probably never be a perfect balance in Euro vs US locos in LEGO! Cheers Rog

That's exactly how I have mine laid out. Looks just fine I think. Those people moaning about the size of it - did they not look at the pictures before buying it? Cheers Rog

Perfect! :-) Cheers Rog

Nice! I guess a half track will be next! Would it stand up OK with just one ski (like in the comic)? Maybe try and make the sidecar sit a plate or so lower. Cheers Rog

You do of course also need a blue or green 1x1 round plate in the trough for the male minifigures to whoosh about... Cheers Rog

First LEGO wee trough I've seen! Made me chuckle! Nice one. Cheers Rog

I have no issues with the DO. I enjoyed the build and really like the end result. I have placed it next to the PS and it looks just fine. The two fit together nicely. My larger modular (TH, GE, cinema) are together too and all looks well. I really enjoyed some of the details inside the DO and am glad that they are there. The barrel passage I could live without but the rest is really nice and, as I said, some of the details are great. On the flip side, I think that the GE went too far the other way and could have done with more details inside so each to his own. Besides, don't most of these arguments apply at least in part to the PR too? It's smaller than other modular and has more interior detail but didn't seem to receive the same level of complaint as the DO. Price-wise it seems fair to me and is about what I would expect to pay for a detailed modular building. You can argue until you're blue in the face about £10 more or less on the price but if you don't like the price then don't buy it. Interesting that the voting on the DO review topic paints a different picture to the negative comments being thrown about... This would seem to imply that the silent majority like the DO and there's just a lot of moaners about! Cheers Rog

I had one 1x1 round plate without a hole and all the rest had the holes. Having now built the DO I think that the detail is excellent and I really enjoyed the build. The size is fine and I think some people are being over critical. I have my large modulars together (TH, GE and cinema) and the smaller one's together (DO and PS) and they all look fine. Overall I reaaly like the set and am very glad I bought it. Cheers Rog

Picked up my DO this morning at the LEGO store in Watford. Dozens on the shelf and the store was deserted. Just need to find time to build it now! Cheers Rog

LEGO City Airport Fire Engine is half price now in TRU. Down from £24.99 to £12.99. They're going quick though. I got the last one in Stevenage yesterday. Cheers Rog

Just got back from ToysRUs in Stevenage and they have the full range of new City, Chima and Friends sets. They were amongst the regular stock but also there was a LEGO 2015 display near the entrance. They also had loads of Simpsons and S12 minifigs. Cheers Rog

Compared strictly to the file pic it looks like it could do with another stud but in real-life these Ka's do look shorter than they are so the length works to create this impression. I agree about the back grille needing to be bigger and/or more distinctive and would like to know what the headlights are. Great job though and nice to see a modern real car depicted. Cheers Rog

[MOD] Ghostbusters Ecto1 (improved looks/details/in-exterior)
rriggs replied to B Rick's topic in LEGO Licensed
I like nearly all of the mods - The only things I am not sure of looking at the two side by side is where you have smoothed off the sides and the front bumper protrusion. I think you may have gone a bit too far and ended up with a slightly slab-sided look to it. The LEGO version was less tidy but somehow gave a more realistic look. The front bumper might technically need to stick out a bit more but I think that the additional plate you have inserted makes it stick out too much. The LEGO version was a bit neater. Apart from those (very picky!) observations I think you have done a really good job. I really like the open side windows. Cheers Rog- 13 replies

Thanks for the review. I don't like the Technic core to the tower. It's very blocky, highly noticeable and just shouldn't be there on the model. I presume it is for structural reasons but looks clumsy and wrong. How wobbly would it be without this core? Cheers Rog

Model Team Definition

Hasn't this debate been done before...?? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=45754&hl=+model%20+team%20+creator#entry800168 Cheers Rog -
I also used this torso for a male officer (actually a ship's captain but that's not the point) and nobody even noticed the hourglass. Those who did notice commented on the gold piping before the hourglass and you can't see the hourglass anyway from very far away. As others have said people come in all shapes and sizes and so do minifigures. There will always be those who find something to moan about. If the scientists had been all male or even the majority male then people would have moaned about the lack of females. If they didn't have hourglass printing people would have moaned that they were being portrayed as too masculine and pandering to a perceived mail dominated industry and so on... What a load of fuss over nothing. Cheers Rog

Great review of a great model. Also, really nice to see right (correct) hand drive straight out of the box! I always have to convert my models to RHD as I build them. Good to see GB reg plates too as these are really rare in any toy or model. The gearstick and seat upholstery are great as is the spare wheel well. Really neat details. FYI - The "brake light" below the rear bumper is in fact a fog light and the "fuel lines" on the engine are more likely to be HT leads. Cheers Rog

MOC: Modern-ish style British semi-detached house

Great interior and some really neat features. Outside has ended up a bit plain because I think the windows are a bit small...? Cheers Rog -
Hamleys don't have PAB and as has been said already is massively overpriced. 10-20% over RRP on most items. They have a good range and Hamleys is worth a visit anyway but save your LEGO purchasing for elsewhere. If you want PAB you need either of the LEGO stores at the two Westfield centres. For LEGO in general your best bets are TRU of which there are several in London or Argos which are on every high street. Cheers Rog

My cats are always fascinated by whatever elements I am working with and they both get very excited when I bring a brand new set home. Every stage from the box arriving, the box opening, the bags opened to the instructions and construction gives them a great deal of interest. It's quite sweet... However, it is also quite irritating when they decide to start knocking elements off the table or settle down on the instructions while I'm using them... Cheers Rog
