  1. Very sweet. Good job! Love the look of the spoilt girl. Cheers Rog
  2. Because that's odd... (pun intended!) Cheers Rog
  3. Hi Thanks for the feedback everyone. Really appreciated. As I was building it I was thinking either bank or jewellers on the ground floor. I think upstairs will be apartments as the balconies are more residential than commercial but we shall see... I've now properly mounted the building on the road plate and have actually got distracted from doing the interior as I have started building a square outside the building and will build another (completely different) modern modular to go on the other side of the square... Cheers Rog
  4. Hi For a long time not I have been planning to build a modular shape and size building but with much more contemporary modern architecture. Today I finally got around to it and thought I'd share the result. The foot print is exactly the same as any of the corner modular buildings and is a shop downstairs with two apartments upstairs. The shop door is at the front with access to the upstairs apartments through a door at the back. The pavement is a different look to a standard modular building (otherwise it would all have been too grey) but again is the same dimensions as a normal modular building. Next step will be to do the interior which is empty at the moment although the shop floor is tiled and there are staircases. Here's the front aspect where you can see the shop door and the two balconies on each floor (front and back corner): A slightly higher view so you can see the modular footprint: The rear of the building where you can see the back door that leads directly to the staircase up to the apartments and the contrast brickwork which is designed to break up the white a bit: The shop on it's own with the roof and two apartments removed: Positioned across the street from the Grand Emporium to give an idea of scale. Cheers Rog
  5. You can now watch the commercial break on Youtube: Cheers Rog
  6. Does look good! I'm guessing stop motion type LEGO footage with the original advert soundtracks. The screen grabs look great and look like really good representations of the actual ads. Looks like it's going to be one of the breaks in Dancing on Ice tomorrow night - Time to set the Tivo I think... Cheers Rog
  7. Hi Couldn't see this posted anywhere - ITV in the UK are showing an entire ad break made of LEGO on Sunday night: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/a549605/itv-to-broadcast-worlds-first-entire-lego-ad-break.html Cheers Rog
  8. It's LEGO not Legos. ie "Getting into LEGO, what set(s) should I get" and "I am just getting back into LEGO". (Someone had to say it...) Cheers Rog
  9. Thanks for the feedback guys. The lighting was a shame - although shouldn't complain about a nice sunny morning - but I have had precious little time to photograph recently but will try and take a better picture or two if I can... Cheers Rog
  10. Hi I recently acquired all of the 2014 Castle sets and decided to combine them with my LOTR sets into one large castle. I wanted to built "up" rather than "out" as is typical of LEGO castles and wanted to include a keep in the castle too. I also wanted to modify the sets I was combining as little as possible so, apart from removing little bits here and there, turning the odd brick around and removing the blue from the 2014 castle modifications have been minimal. I tried to avoid symmetry where possible too. Still some tweaking to do but overall I am very happy with the result. Cheers Rog
  11. I found it and registered myself. Doesn't seem to be much going on. It's been two weeks since I registered and my account still hasn't been validated (so I can't post). Some nice little MOCs and things on there - Some of which have been on here too - Just a shame that it seems to be dormant... Cheers Rog
  12. I swoosh maybe once after building but more common with my builds is Brmmm-Brmmm-ing... Cheers Rog
  13. Do you not reserve? Cheers Rog
  14. Nothing better than trying to look casual while queuing at the checkout with a giant modular box... Although even better when it's an empty box off the shelf in TRU! Cheers Rog
  15. Pretty sure that a self-proclaimed guru is an oxymoron... Very interesting thread - I got the GE for Xmas and am planning what to do with the interior and there's some nice neat ideas here. I particularly like the coffee bar. Great stuff! Cheers Rog
  16. That's the spirit! Cheers Rog
  17. Never had any problem with Argos myself. They never seem to have any of the LEGO that's on offer left but normal prices sets have always been in store when I want them. Cheers Rog
  18. I'd maybe keep quiet about that if I were you... Cheers Rog
  19. Nope good at tiles too. Very pointy, pointy end does the job nicely. :-) Cheers Rog
  20. I really want to try and buy less and MOC more with what I've got. But those shiny new boxes in the yellow section of TRU are always too tempting! I promise I will try harder... :-p Cheers Rog
  21. I have all the current castle sets except the one with the big dragon. I think they're pretty neat. I have replaced most of the blue with grey but that would be my only criticism. I'm another one who has no problem mixing fleshies with yellows. Real people are all different shades of colour after all. Cheers Rog
  22. That's a great design and instantly recognisable! Nice work! You even managed to find a purpose for one CMF base. Just need to find uses for all the rest now... Cheers Rog
  23. Very good at this. They're actually a very neat design overall. I have about 20 now. One green and the rest orange. It's got to the point where I keep them boxed up in their own category next to regular parts. With the amount that LEGO dish out for free in sets now I'm glad I never actually paid for one! Cheers Rog
  24. I enjoyed the LOTR films but wouldn't particularly consider myself a fan. However, I do own a number of LOTR & Hobbit sets: - Did you still buy some of the LOTR/Hobbit for the parts they provide? Yes. The parts, building techniques, some of the minifigs and weapons are all great for MOCs. I'm not an historical purist so have no problem mixing Middle Earth with the Middle Ages! - Do you prefer the LOTR/Hobbit sets' minifigs, or parts, or accessories? Some of them. The detail on shields and minifigs, for example, is great and variations in helmets and weapons is good too. I'm not so fussed about orcs or dwarves but I can easily just out them to one side... - Which are in your Castle MOCer opinion, the best LOTR/Hobbit sets to use as parts pack for your own MOCs so far? Helm's Deep is great. So many pieces in the gatehouse and keep and great techniques to use along with the parts. - Do you like some of the sets because they also work as a generic medieval fantasy Lego set? (I remember reading a guy saying he hated LOTR but bought Orthanc because he needed an evil wizard tower for his layout) Yes. Helm's Deep and the sets with wall sections have been useful in generic castle expansion. Cheers Rog
  25. Plenty of pizza restaurants on the Champ Élysées in Paris... Great build and a nice bit of competition for Chez Albert! Cheers Rog
