[Challenge 2] [Cat. A] Tappudansu Mk. II
Commander Turtle replied to Commander Beltar's topic in AG1 Archive
What an unusual ship! I thought it was a dragon head from the first shot, but then got a better look at the heel... However, there's no top speed of 950mph if this thing is capable of spaceflight. Top speed is limited only by the fuel you're carrying in space! -
Good to see he takes after his father! Now, if only the mech had thumbs, Kawashita could really put it to work...

[Challenge 2][Cat A] OS-42 Sentinel
Commander Turtle replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in AG1 Archive
I was thinking more how the cockpit is the same parts from the Cockroach, and looking at your Flickr I recognise it from two of your small starfighter entries and a bunch of your older models. It's a signature of yours! This is definitely a variant since the front is inverted, but it's still recognisably from the Bob factory -

Talking like that, if he had horns and he'd be straight from Homestuck! (Anyone uninitiated... maybe don't bother trying to learn. It's 8,000 pages...) -
Planet: A04 Mynderis Tags: Exploration On board the Landship. So can you help me fix it? I don't know. Really, you shouldn't have been having a tea party with the drones, an accident was bound to happen... What's that shadow? Oh my... Kawashita Guide to the Galaxy The Leviathan Worm is a terrifying flying monstrosity. It appears to be lighter-than-air and swims through the sky like the hellspawn it is. We don't know what it eats, but it probably enjoys snacking on pilots. Since it fills us with terror, it has been deemed a terrorist and we at Kawashita have a zero tolerance policy on terrorism. As such, future explorers on this planet should have their craft equipped with top tier energy beams, if not nuclear warheads.

The Osprey is a small scout ship, but its versatility and track record made it the obvious choice for getting a weaponised upgrade. Called the Osprey G, the energy cannon strapped to the front provides a punch without causing recoil, ideal for such a lightweight craft. Vertical doors are efficient and... okay, they're just cool. In flight, the wings fold out and the landing gear tucks in. The engine with thrust vectoring. Here's a better look at the cannon. I like asymmetry. Dead pleased with this. The door design required a modified tile inversion, which acts as the door stopper on the way up and the way down. So that part worked out better than I could have hoped. This is one you couldn't have made on LDD! C&C always welcome.

Ah, the Bob-brand cockpit strikes again! Nice use of those big white curves once again, seems like your favourite piece at the moment. -
False, just Kawashita. (We have 69 on undominated planets and 100 from A06, which is most of it.) MANTIS points are from all their wastage as they defended E02, F02, D04, C04, B06...

I entirely disagree with this. LDD is harder in many ways, and easier in others like having many bricks. Try using it yourself and you'll see there's two sides to this -

I talked about this with Nuck a fair bit at the start of the game. He's really found his stride, and the answer is that LDD has strengths and weaknesses. It's less easy to spot techniques or have the bricks you've got guide you, and every decision is manual; if you want a mixed colour rock, you're changing colour deliberately while in bricks it is more natural to just shove in bricks you have in front of you. In contrast, it's also possible to build much bigger, and build with rarer pieces in however much quantity you like. So Nuck has taken this, and started making these enormous builds with any kinds of bricks that he chooses. If he wants to build something as tall as an AT-AT every week, he will because there is nothing stopping him besides time. In general, I agree that it requires more energy to get the same score out of LDD since you're expecting to build bigger and have to consciously decide to use advanced techniques. But it has advantages too, so play to those. Nuck's one of the top builders in the game right now, and he's still not touched a brick! -
That's actually a really interesting stat. Shows that people haven't been fighting Octan hard enough!

Nice work! I always like brick-built water, it's a step up from the loose-bricks-only approach that has become so popular.

This is fabulous. Really well-developed craft, loads of fancy techniques, the works. I particularly like how the cockpit sits snugly inline with the body.- 25 replies

This was a really excellent ending. I laughed at the "You will have died with honour" part And there's a whole load of building and storytelling, one of the best of the whole game so far for story! Absolutely love that you built Aera's bomber in micro. You've outdone yourself, I look forward to the next time you do a big story. What's with all the girls being nude? Someone find me fleshie legs, I have some crown jewels to air...

Review: 21302 - The Big Bang Theory
Commander Turtle replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the review. I want all the minifigs because of their general versatility, but man it's quite a bit of cash for someone who's not a fan of the show! The build seems fairly detailed but overall a bit dull, so not worth it for that. -
Bob said on Dragonfire's build that an alien interaction should be friendly for exploration. His was even on the planet surface.

Thanks a lot for all the comments, everyone! Seems like my Commander is most liked when he is being irresponsible

Nice work! I see you're taking the opportunity to really challenge Dr. Long's company position! I do like that you've given it a fair bit of bulk for a small craft, makes it feel a touch more realistic.- 15 replies

Looking good, Nuck! I prefer the Bluerender too, I think it shows microscale off very nicely. I'm glad I could be an inspiration! You've got some cute details, like the hospital with the snowflake, and the pillars in front of a building. We have got to set you your own personal deadline, Nuck You're gonna miss a week soon and it won't be pretty!

This is cool! Got a good classic-space vibe going on here. I'm always a fan of builds with multiple distinct areas, too.

There's some nice texturing here, but my favourite detail are the cute little cacti -
I thought alien encounters were one of the founding "exploration" suggestions? From the rules, "Build must feature flora, fauna, or an alien first encounter"
