Greater Direstan Mission control. "Commander, can you give an update on your current scenario?" "I am approaching the drilling coordinates. The land here is fertile but does not appear to have much in the way of sentient life. Hold on, I may have to reconsider that. I see something..." "Commander, what is it you see?" "Only the cutest little thing! Isn't it sweet? Can you see it on my vid stream?" "Yes Commander, very sweet. How long until you reach the coordinates?" "I'm taking it with us." "Sir, are you entirely sure-" "As your commanding officer, I am entirely sure that this little thing is adorable!" More: Mandatory Flickr link.

Everyone is a student in the Lego box of life But for sure, I joined to improve my abilities and I'm sure we're not the only ones.

My photography isn't great (you'll see tomorrow!) but my method is to roll out some wrapping paper with the white side up, then stick everything as close to a window as possible. It's not as good as a light box but it's the best I can do cheaply

Smooth rockwork, I like it a lot. What makes up your figure's body and legs? Yours is one of the few fleshie figs here that I could potentially use to cameo in future!
-
I like the second photo a lot, it could use some better lighting (I try to use daylight when possible) but the concept is really great.

I'm glad there's a bit of dialogue around the judging, thanks for discussing Bob Given the price of some of the personal upgrades, I think we could definitely use some higher scores! Or perhaps reduce the cost of some upgrades. I'd particularly like to see the second job upgrade reduced a lot, since it's mostly a roleplaying upgrade rather than an especially useful one. Currently it needs 70 weeks of 43 credit builds, which is an enormous time investment. In contrast, I think the 30 domination points/planet is very well balanced right now. For that, the 1-6 scale works fine with a 7 in place for when someone makes a 48x48 factory with 7 types of cleverly built mech roaming around... Semi-solutions off the top of my head are to have unrounded final scores (e.g. this scores 43 credits before bonus, the other example scores 37 credits), or perhaps to allow judges to make decimal scores individually, like 4.5, and then round the final average of these. It could add a little finesse to it, like when a build is impressive but might lack some of the variation in techniques you might want. You're the boss, Bob!

Excellent work Mike, the particularly clever use of the dice seems to overshadow your super scene!

Welcome aboard Raven, and any small build helps. Raven on a plate with a leaf will net 10 credits and a domination point! Hopefully Narbilu will add you to the group PM shortly.

We do know the judges, it's Lady K, Narbilu, and Bob. It's a rounded average, so you might have scored 5/4/4 for a 4.33 average, while 4.5 (a judge build gets only 2 judges) or 4.67 would both be rounded to 5. So those are the people to bribe. What we don't know is the processes behind the decisions, I would certainly love a generic form of things to shoot for. E.g. marks for build neatness, impressiveness, and story integration. The way to step further would be to use the build for storytelling like Big Sal's well-deserved 6 this week.
-
Hmm, that's surprisingly low imo. I feel like the judges undervalue LDD a bit, it's damn hard to make something look this complete. The program has advantages and disadvantages over regular bricks, but I can understand this build makes it look effortless.

This is excellent, you are an asset to our company.

Those high-res-lowest-quality ones don't seem too bad at all. I see the complex transparent parts are the reasons for sluggishness, my render of my sub took maybe 3-4 hours on 26% while it delt with a metallic helmet visor inside a trans-blue curved part. Almost as long as the whole of the first build with 3x the pieces, which was maybe 5 hours total. Anyway, if this build isn't the peak of LDD in this game I don't know what will be
-
This is absolutely killer, great work! How did you get the render to do all those nice angles? Is that just using different LDD saves from various camera angles?

Personally, the tooltips don't work on the iPad browser well. I suppose because there is no real 'hover'.

That was one heck of a build, great work. The desert and the window add a lot to it, and your lab packs a lot of subtle realism.
