  1. I think an auction would reduce the selling price, because then you need two very wealthy fans to bid each other up, while in a direct sale you only need one. If it was put on Bricklink for say $50,000, then when that richest of fans comes along you simply do the sale. (Plus, Bricklink fees are lower than eBay's.) Finding 2 wealthy fans to reach the same heights seems like a stretch, although theoretically the price could go astronomically high. I don't doubt that this fig is worth the price of a car, but the method of selling will determine what type of car we're talking about.
  2. Here's the current progress: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=92991855903511639372 I worked on the bank a bunch, tried to build all the internal walls and a roof with a facade. Figured that there is plenty left to do without having 2 storeys for buildings that don't need it. To view inside, go to the Groups tab (above the bricks section), click the grey roof and press L. Could use some furniture/figures in the lobby, I ran out of bricks!
  3. We are repeating turns - the extended list of "spares" is how we're going to go through. Also, to keep this moving it is worth builders checking the back pages if their turn is coming up (and posting the files when done).
  4. This one is ace. Highlight of the thread to see it make it to the brick, it totally works. My only comment on all this is I wish Lego made a 5-wide windscreen, it's the only way these cars could get cooler.
  5. Glad you're alright Dave, I was getting worried! I hope the magic doesn't get lost by splitting the model too much. I might advocate splitting into 2 instead of 3, so at least a bit more can be seen at once? Edit: I am dumb, I didn't interpret your suggestion fully. Only question is, how will we update the complete model? Is that a LDD feature?
  6. I would like a board game! (It looks a bit like The Resistance: Avalon...)
  7. I can do another round, time permitting.
  8. I really like the Sheriff's Office, though I don't know how to see inside it without deleting bricks! Finished my turn :)
  9. Pulled the gif for now. I quite like seeing interesting signatures, but if I'm in the minority then I won't inflict that on others :)
  10. Trying the smaller version. It helps that at half the height, it takes up a quarter of the real estate from when it was larger.
  11. I'm testing out my new signature. I have a couple gifs which I think show off MOC features nicely, but I'm worried they'll just be too irritating! At the moment the height is 150px, which matches the Flickr thumbnails. The other option would be something smaller like this: Though, then the Flickr icons look rubbish scaled down even more, so it would mean the sizes wouldn't match. I've seen all sorts of ginormo-signatures in my time here, but I don't want to be the guy that makes everyone switch off their signature view if the animation is distracting.
  12. And here is mine. Got an interior in it too, so don't let the size restrictions stop you thinking big! HMS Lily by Commander Turtle, on Flickr
  13. Cool, this is rocketing along already. After my recent train-dabbling, I really want to put a train on the tracks, although for the amount of bricks we'll be using the base is already pretty huge so I don't know how feasible it will be. We'll see how finished other things look in a few turns. I guess buildings should be left open-backed where they can be to stretch the bricks a little?
  14. This is exciting! I'm excited! Now to wait 30 days for my turn :P
  15. PM sent. Looking forward to this.
  16. Hi, thanks for this tool. I'm just starting and I can't seem to... do anything. All the menu options are greyed out except for "View report" - I can't import any wanted list or anything! Is there something I'm missing?
  17. Super, well done to all. About half the ones I voted for made it on, and a whole bunch more I would have voted for if I had more points to give! And for the last time, they're not turtles, they're tortoises!
  18. This seems to have a few new parts? Such as the 2 plate high slopes in the very last picture. The sets are less exciting than the parts, I confess that I wouldn't mind some wheels with that little yellow stripe on the formula 1...
  19. Glad to see digital entries allowed. While almost all members have a bin full of Lego, any given set isn't usually owned by more than 10% of people - especially not a limited run set!

  21. Since my Flickr name is Commander Turtle... I'd better get building!
  22. What a great model! Less for your money than the ol' camper, but it's hard to resist all the dark green. Definitely something on my wishlist for 2015. (2014 is already all booked out!)
  23. This is an excellent discussion. Personally, I believe anyone is welcome to purchase 50 copies of sets while they're available to the general public without limitation. If you went out now and bought 50 Haunted Houses to resell, more power to you. If it's a month before the set goes off the shelves, that's a little shakier, but debatably still okay. The reason for this is that Lego simply prints more, and having more in existence results in more sets on the second hand market. Contrary to what some people believe, this helps keep prices down. The flip side of this is when people buy out limited sets - 41999 and the Curiosity are the two horrendous examples of late, though there are many more throughout the years. If someone buys even just 4 copies of those sets, I believe they are scumbags who are killing the fun for honest fans. This is because they are actively depriving 3 people of the set at retail price for their own gain - those people can't just go back next week when the set is back in stock. Basically, mass release reselling: bang on! Limited edition reselling: go drown yourself! Politely.
  24. Sorry for the late reply, but thanks YYS4U! The blog (and all the Eurobricks MOCs contained) were a main inspiration source for me, I'm proud to be included :)
